My Thoughts on the February 14th Episode of AAA on FOX:
My Thoughts: This wasn’t like last week’s episode at all, but the Main Event ended up being the saving grace and really carried the entire show. The undercard and midcard segments felt flat and thrown together, almost as if creative didn’t know what to do and just needed to fill time. By the time the Main Event rolled around, it finally felt like the energy in the arena picked up, and the crowd actually had something meaningful to invest in. Also, I’m really tired of that A.I. slop that AAA has been using for the El Grande Americano material. The digital effects and weirdly generated promos take me out of the moment instead of adding anything to the character. It comes across as cheap and gimmicky rather than creative or cutting-edge, and at this point, it’s more distracting than entertaining. I’d much rather see authentic backstage promos, in-ring segments, and real character work instead of this artificial presentation they keep forcing on us. On the positive side, Santos Escobar made it very clear what his intentions are going forward. His focus, his body language, and the way he addressed the crowd all pointed in one direction: he’s coming for championship gold. I can absolutely see him becoming the next AAA Latin American Champion, and the way they’re building him up makes that seem more and more likely. He carries himself like a top star, and when he speaks, you believe every word coming out of his mouth. Even with those bright spots, this still felt like a filler episode overall. Outside of the Main Event and Santos’ clear direction, not much else stood out as must-see or essential viewing. It felt like a show meant to bridge the gap between bigger story beats rather than deliver anything truly memorable on its own. Looking ahead, next week has a lot more potential. Dominik Mysterio will be back for his contract signing with El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Rey de Reyes event, and that segment could easily steal the show if handled correctly. There’s already tension brewing between the two, and putting them face-to-face at the table should raise the stakes even higher. With the AAA Mega Title on the line at Rey de Reyes, the contract signing is the perfect opportunity to escalate their feud, add some personal animosity, and finally give this storyline the big-match feel it deserves.
The February 14th Episode of AAA on FOX — The Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: La Parka vs. Jack Cartwheel in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: N/A — La Parka gets a much-needed win as he builds towards the AAA Rey de Reyes Event, as he’ll be partaking in the Four-Way Match, which will determine if he can have a future shot at the AAA Mega Title. But Jack Cartwheel had a decent showing as well in this match, which went by pretty quickly.
The 2nd Match: Las Toxicas (Flammer, Lady Maravilla & La Hiedra) vs. Adelicious, Faby Apache & Jessy Jackson in a Six-Women Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: N/A — This was a fine under five-minute Six-Women Tag Team Match. Las Toxicas got the win, and now look to keep the built momentum they obtained from this match.
The Main Event Match: The War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) vs. Los Americanos (Bravo Americano & Rayo Americano) vs. Money Machine (Colmillo De Plata & Garra De Oro) in a AAA World Tag Team Title No. 1 Contender’s Three-Way Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — This was a very fun match. Los Americanos just drop this gimmick, let Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate come back because they were awesome in this match. The War Raiders were having a ball in this match. They are next in line for a future AAA World Tag Team Title Match, and I really hope they can win the titles because I think they can have a very fun run as the AAA World Tag Team Champions. I have been introduced to Money Machine. I thought they were solid in this match. But this was a very fun ten-minute main event, and now Pagano & Psycho Clown have some new challengers they have to worry about in the War Raiders.
The February 14th AAA on FOX— The Match of the Night: The War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) vs. Los Americanos (Bravo Americano & Rayo Americano) vs. Money Machine (Colmillo De Plata & Garra De Oro) in a AAA World Tag Team Title No. 1 Contender’s Three-Way Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — This was a lot of fun. When given the minutes, the War Raiders can show you why they’re one of the most underrated teams in the world. I thought Money Machine looked great in this match, same with New Catch Republic, now known as Los Americanos, in Bravo Americano & Rayo Americano.
The February 14th Episode of AAA on FOX — The Episode Grade: 5.25/10 (C) — This wasn’t like last week’s episode, but the Main Event was the saving grace of this episode. Also, I’m tired of that A.I. slop that AAA has been using for the El Grande Americano stuff. Santos Escobar made it clear what his intentions are. I do see him becoming the next AAA Latin American Champion, but this was such a filler episode. Next week, Dominik Mysterio will be back for his Contract Signing with El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Rey de Reyes Event, as the AAA Mega Title will be on the line.
