Thoughts of the Paper View Event | AEW Double or Nothing | Live Event Show:

My Thoughts: One of the best professional wrestling events I have watched in a long time! This event had everything a wrestling fan could ask for. I was particularly struck by the story of Adam Page, who is finally back at the top and has a chance to stay there if he can defeat the Death Riders and Jon Moxley. Mercedes Moné had her big moment as she heads to Texas as the AEW TBS Champion and possibly the AEW Women's World Champion. We also saw some exciting returns, including Hook. Overall, it was an amazing event. Now, the build-up for ALL IN Texas begins, and they have a great opportunity to capitalize on this momentum and make the fans happy. They really can't afford to mess this up!

AEW Paper View Event | AEW Double or Nothing | Match Ratings:

The Opening Match: Mercedes Moné vs.  Jamie Hayter in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Final Round Match | Match Rating: ****.75 | Mercedes Moné is having an incredible 2025. This match showcased a lot from her. I thought Jamie Hayter was going to win, and that Mercedes Moné would face Athena at ALL IN for the TBS Championship. However, I was genuinely shocked by what transpired, as Mercedes Moné secured a huge victory with a roll-up, earning her place at ALL IN. She will be facing Toni Storm for the AEW Women's World Championship. Great performance from both women in this match!

2nd Match: FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (with Stokley) vs. Daniel Garcia & Nigel McGuinness (with Matt Menard)| Match Rating: ***.50 | FTR turned heel last month on their long-time friend Adam Copeland. This heel turn has revived the serious status they had in the past and added Stokley as their manager. The match had many strong points, but I felt it dragged towards the end. I didn’t believe Daniel Garcia or Nigel McGuinness would win, as FTR needed this victory more to establish their heel run and solidify their status as a serious threat. This win significantly benefits them. However, the ending of the match was very solid and well-executed, concluding with a referee's decision. This was a smart booking choice that enhances their reputation as a formidable team and allows their streak to grow, marking the beginning of this heel run for them.

3rd Match: Ricochet vs. Mark Briscoe in a Stretcher Match || Match Rating: ****.50 | This match was incredible! Ricochet's heel run has been exceptional. He went from being a bland baby face who wasn't given a proper chance to showcase his wrestling skills to becoming one of the best heels in the industry. In this match, Mark Briscoe left it all in the ring, even getting bloodied up by Ricochet. The crowd enjoyed this matchup; it was one of the solid highlights of the show. Ricochet demonstrated a lot of offense and used some clever heel tactics that worked well. In the end, he achieved his first AEW pay-per-view victory by defeating the lovable Mark Briscoe, putting him on a stretcher and loading him into the ambulance to secure a much-needed win. This match was fantastic, and I hope Ricochet has a significant role at ALL IN in Texas because he deserves a marquee match at AEW's biggest event.

4th Match: The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin) (with MJF) vs. The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) in a Tag Team Title Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championships | Match Rating: **.50 | The Hurt Syndicate, as a unit, has been entertaining, but their run as champions hasn't been very enjoyable due to the tag teams they have faced in title matches. This match was my least favorite of the night; it felt more like something you’d see on Dynamite. However, it was necessary to give some importance to the tag titles while also advancing the storyline with MJF joining forces with them. Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara had a decent performance, but it wasn't enough for them to secure the win. Since winning the titles from Private Party, the Hurt Syndicate has been dominating, but they haven't yet faced a serious team that could challenge their hold on the tag belts. I believe Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs from The Opps should be next in line. If they face off at ALL IN, it could definitely be a show-stealer for me.

5th Match: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Mike Bailey in a Singles Title Match for the AEW Continental Championship | Match Rating: ****.25 | Kazuchika Okada is one of the funniest men in wrestling, but when it’s time to lock in, he performs at his best, especially in huge matches. This match ranks in my top three favorites from the show tonight. It was a high-paced contest with lots of back-and-forth action from both competitors. Since joining AEW from TNA, Mike Bailey has been electric—he adds significant value and depth to the roster and has quickly become one of the best talents on AEW television. This match showcased his skills well. Kazuchika Okada delivered some impressive offensive moves, while Mike Bailey had his moments to secure the win. However, he ultimately didn't do enough, and Okada retained his title. I have a strong feeling that the long-awaited match against Kenny Omega is next, as the rumored unification match at ALL IN in Texas looms on the horizon. This will continue Okada's legendary rivalry with Omega, which dates back to their days in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. As for Mike Bailey, I hope he maintains his incredible momentum and secures a significant match for ALL IN in Texas. Overall, it was an amazing match and a strong title defense from both Kazuchika Okada and Mike Bailey.

6th Match: Toni Storm (with Luther) (c) vs. Mina Shirakawa in a Singles Titles Match for the AEW Women’s World Championship | Match Rating: **** | Despite being a shorter match, it still delivered. Toni Storm and Mina showcased good chemistry and action in the ring, making the match passable for the event. I enjoyed the character work that Toni Storm has been doing; it has been impressive. The only thing missing from this match was the crowd's energy; it felt like the heat just wasn't there. I was also surprised that Mariah May didn't make an appearance, as I expected her to be at the event. Overall, it was a solid match, and now Toni Storm can turn her focus to the AEW TBS Championship, as she will be facing Mercedes Moné at AEW ALL IN for the AEW Women's World Championship.

7th Match: Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, The Opps (Katsuryori Shibata, Powerhouse Hobbs & Samoa Joe) & Willow Nightingale (with Prince Nana) vs. Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, Marnia Shafir & Wheeler Yuta) & The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) in an Anarchy In The Arena Match | Match Rating: ****.75 | The second-best match on this card was an incredible and chaotic spectacle. I loved that Drowning Pool's song "Bodies" was playing throughout the arena during this match. The chaos, blood, and intensity made it even better. This was easily the best Anarchy in an Arena Match to date. There were so many insane moments, including the return of Hook and Gabe Kidd trying to intervene, although that didn’t go as planned. I'm pleased that the good guys emerged victorious, as it benefits them in the long run. It was an amazing match, and I enjoyed every second of it. Great stuff.

8th Match: The Don Callis Family (Josh Alexander, Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher) (with Don Callis & Lance Archer) vs. Paragon (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong) in a Six-Man Tag Team Match | Match Rating: ***.25 | This match served as a cool-off moment for the fans before the highly anticipated main event. Overall, it was just okay and didn’t leave a lasting impression on me. The Don Callis Family had some solid moments, as did the Paragon. Kyle Fletcher showcased his skills well in this match, and I believe he will be the next contender for the AEW TNT Championship held by Adam Cole. Ultimately, the Don Callis Family emerged victorious, gaining an advantage over the Paragon, with whom they have recently started a feud.

The Main Event Match: This is my match of the year. What an incredible encounter! This match had everything: drama, storytelling, and the determination to do whatever it takes to win. The storybook ending, where Adam Page finally emerged victorious, perfectly set the stage for his quest to reclaim the AEW World Championship. I loved how the conclusion of the match tied together all the events that led to this moment. Will Ospreay displayed some heel tendencies, doing everything possible to secure the win. Now, Adam Page will face Jon Moxley for the biggest prize in AEW at the company’s largest event, ALL IN Texas.

AEW Paper View Event | AEW Double or Nothing | Event Grade: 9.25/10 (A) | The event was incredible—one of the best AEW pay-per-views in recent memory. It featured a beautiful blend of wrestling and chaos, culminating in a fantastic conclusion. We witnessed Adam Page finally conquer his demons and secure his spot at ALL IN, where he will have the opportunity to fight for the AEW World Championship. It was amazing, and I thoroughly enjoyed the event.
