My Thoughts on the October 1st Episode of AEW Dynamite:
My Thoughts: This was a very fine 6th Anniversary Episode for AEW. We saw some returns and matches being made for AEW WrestleDream. My moment of the night was Andrade making his return to AEW and aligning himself with the Don Callis Family. But other than that, a very passable episode for AEW.
The October 1st Episode of AEW Dynamite — The Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Brodido (Bandido & Brody King) & Kenny Omega vs. Josh Alexander & The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) in a Six-Man Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — This was a very fun match, Kenny Omega on Dynamite is always refreshing as he tagged with Brodidio to get the win over the Young Bucks, and Josh Alexander. But what happens next is what everyone is talking about. Andrade makes his return to AEW, being the first wrestler to jump from WWE --> AEW --> WWE --> AEW. Andrade is aligned with The Don Callis Family, which makes the family much deeper and dangerous. But man, how long has Kenny Omega been feuding with Don Callis? Can this ever end? But other than that, what a fun opener for the sixth anniversary of AEW Dynamite.
2nd Match: Kyle Fletcher (with Don Callis) (c) vs. Orange Cassidy in an AEW TNT Title Match | The Match Rating: **** — This was a very fine match. Kyle Fleytcher will be a World Champion in AEW in a few years, but this was some great stuff between both guys. The Don Callis Family is leveling up as they are reaching some of their peak stuff in AEW. And for Orange Cassidy, I know this isn't over for him, as he has a bone to pick with the Don Callis Family.
3rd Match: Adam Page & The Opps (Powerhouse Hobbs & Samoa Joe) vs. Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia & Jon Moxley) in a Six-Man Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***.75 — This was a fine match; the Death Riders didn't have the best night, as all members suffered losses. But what caught the main attention from this was how Adam Page and Samoa Joe almost went to blows, and now they have a match at AEW WrestleDream for the AEW World Title.
4th Match: Toni Storm vs. Tay Melo in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: **.25 — This was something, I guess, to really get Toni Storm re-added momentum for herself. Tay Melo didn't look bad whatsoever. She put together a really solid performance for herself as she didn't look out of place for one second against Toni Storm. But I'm excited for Toni Storm taking on Kris Statlander for the AEW Women's World Title, and I feel like that can steal the show at WrestleDream.
5th Match: Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) vs. The Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson) in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ** — It was quite obvious that Gates of Agony were going to win this match as they went up against Blake Christian and Lee Johnson. Gates of Agony's usage as of late has made me happy they are underrated as a team, and with Ricochet on their side, this has been a fun stable since their formation of the Demend.
The Main Event Match: Darby Allin & Kris Statlander vs. Death Riders (Marnia Shafir & Wheeler Yuta) in a Mixed Tornado Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — This was a very chaotic match in which was very fun at the same time. These types of matches I always enjoy watching. Darby Allin and Kris Statlander came out victorious against the Death Riders' own Marina Shafir and Wheeler Yuta. This was some good stuff, and Darby Allin's quest to take out the Death Riders has been one of my enjoyments in AEW for quite some time.
The October 1st Episode of AEW Dynamite — The Match of the Night: Brodido (Bandido & Brody King) & Kenny Omega vs. Josh Alexander & The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) in a Six-Man Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — This was an incredibly fun match—Kenny Omega on Dynamite is always a refreshing sight. He teamed up with Brodidio to secure a win over the Young Bucks and Josh Alexander. However, the real buzz is about what happened next: Andrade made his return to AEW, becoming the first wrestler to move from WWE to AEW, back to WWE, and now back to AEW again. Now aligned with The Don Callis Family, Andrade adds another layer of depth and danger to the group. However, one has to wonder—how long has Kenny Omega been feuding with Don Callis, and will it ever end? Still, what a great match to kick off AEW Dynamite’s sixth anniversary.
The October 1st Edition of AEW Dynamite — The Episode Grade: 7.75/10 (B) — This was a solid 6th Anniversary, featuring some returns and a new Episode for AEW match setups for AEW WrestleDream. The highlight of the night was Andrade returning to AEW and joining the Don Callis Family. Overall, it was a decent episode for AEW.
