My Official Thoughts on the May 20th Episode of AEW Dynamite:

My Official Thoughts: A solid go-home show before AEW Double or Nothing. I enjoyed the Anything Goes Match and the AEW World Title Match. It sucks Willow Nightingale had to relinquish her AEW TBS Title and be dropped from the Women’s Owen Hart Tournament, but I wish her well. Overall, it was a fun episode leading into AEW Double or Nothing, the company’s second biggest event.

The May 20th Episode of AEW Dynamite — My Official Match Ratings:

The Opening Match: Don Callis Family (Andrade El Idolo & Mark Davis) & Ricochet vs. Jericho & The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) in a Six-Man Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: *** — Jericho being in this match killed the enjoyment because if you know Y2J he tries to get in the hot angles so the fans can be behind him as of recent years he been doing his worst career work. But this was a decent Six-Man Tag Team Match as the Don Callis Family's Andrade El Idolo & Mark Davis with Ricochet got the win over The Bucks & Y2J.

The 2nd Match: Mark Briscoe vs. Tommaso Ciampa in an Anything Goes Match | The Match Rating: ****.50 — This was the best match of the night. Tommaso Ciampa has been amazing since joining AEW. Mark Briscoe getting the win is the right choice, but this was a very good, physical, high-octane match. I love how AEW makes Hardcore Matches feel legit, and this was an amazing match.

The 3rd Match: Jon Moxley [c] vs. Kyle O’Reilly in an AEW Continental Title Eliminator Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — Jon Moxley is one of the most hilarious wrestlers ever. These Eliminator Matches are the most boring things on weekly Dynamite. Because we all know he isn’t losing, and we heard rumors he doesn't want to be kicked out of The Death Rider’s, I have lost a lot of interest in Jon Moxley because his run with this title sucks. I really think this match was decent, but I have zero interest in this run. Once he drops the title, then the title will feel important again.

The 4th Match: Athena & Triangle Of Madness (Julia Hart, Skye Blue  & Thekla) vs. Brawling Birds (Alex Windsor & Jamie Hayter), Mina Shirakawa & Thunder Rosa in an Eight-Women Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: **.75 — I guess this was my least favorite match from this episode. I wish Tony Khan knew he could do a lot more than this Eight-Women Tag material because we’ve seen it many times, and the lack of creativity for the talented women's roster has been something Tony Khan has been struggling with for years. But this match was average, and nothing noteworthy to me.

The Main Event Match: Darby Allin (c) vs. Mike Bailey in an AEW World Title Match | The Match Rating: **** — Mike Bailey & Darby Allin were a hell of a title match. Do I think this is the final successful title defense for Darby Allin? Yes, I do believe MJF will become a 3x AEW World Champion at AEW Double or Nothing this Sunday in Queens, NY. I do think this was one of the greatest AEW World Title Reigns, and if this is over, MJF will have a great summer reign, and if not, we get Darby Allin & Rush next week on AEW Dynamite.

The May 20th Episode of AEW Dynamite — My Match of the Night: Mark Briscoe vs. Tommaso Ciampa in an Anything Goes Match | The Match Rating: ****.50 — This was easily the match of the night. Tommaso Ciampa has been on fire ever since he arrived in AEW. Having Mark Briscoe go over was absolutely the right decision, and the match delivered a hard-hitting, high-energy performance from start to finish. I really appreciate how AEW makes Hardcore Matches feel genuinely intense and believable, and this one was fantastic.

The May 20th Episode of AEW Dynamite — My Official Episode Grade: 7.75/10 (B+) — A solid go-home show before AEW Double or Nothing, I enjoyed the Anything Goes Match and AEW World Title Match.
