My Official Thoughts on the June 3rd Episode of AEW Dynamite:
My Official Thoughts: This was a really strong episode of AEW Dynamite and a great lead-in to Forbidden Door, which is just a couple of weeks away. The matches were very entertaining and delivered excellent in-ring action. I’m really looking forward to next week’s show as we get closer to seeing the complete match lineup for the Men’s and Women’s Owen Hart Tournament.
My Official Match Ratings for the June 3rd AEW Dynamite Episode:
The Opening Match: MJF (c) vs. Rush in an AEW World Title No Count Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — A very great opening match, as we start MJF’s 3rd Title Reign with a bang. With this very fine opener against Rush, this is probably Rush's best year in AEW in some time he been an important use to AEW, and I hope it contiunes even after this match against MJF. I liked how physical and gritty this match was. He had, in the end, MJF got the win and retained his AEW World Title.
The 2nd Match: Mark Briscoe vs. Lio Rush in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: *** — Lio Rush getting a spot on Dynamite is cool; his character has really gotten over. But it was cool to see Mark Briscoe get the win, and now to reopen a rivalry with MJF, who’s now the AEW World Champion again. Mark Briscoe has defeated MJF before, and I do like that the feud has been reopened. I’m excited for the future AEW World Title Match.
The 3rd Match: Andrade El Idolo vs. DK Vandu in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: N/A — This was a squash match. This match started, then one blink, it was over. Andrade has cooled off these past couple of months after a very good start to the year. Hopefully, once we are near the Grand Slam in Mexico, we can have something major for him because he, in my eyes, is a World Title-Level Talent. But this was cool, seeing him just make an example of an opponent.
The 4th Match: Kevin Knight (c) vs, Mike Bailey in an AEW TNT Title Match | The Match Rating: **** — We got a heel Kevin Knight who joined the Don Callis Family, which is something I wasn’t quite happy about because he is well by his own. But this match against Mike Bailey for the AEW TNT Title was very fun. Mike Bailey looked awesome in this match against Kevin Knight, but Don Callis’ Family got involved, helping Kevin Knight retain his AEW TNT Title. Kevin Knight is going to have an eventful summer; it seems like veery excited to see how it goes for him.
The 5th Match: Mercedes Moné vs, Alex Windsor in an Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Quarter-Final Round Match | The Match Rating: ***.75 — She’s back, Mercedes Moné, the last year’s Owen Hart Women’s Tournament Winner, made her AEW Return being the Wild Card as she took on Alex Windsor in a very good match. Mercedes Mone didn’t miss a beat as she got thje win via Submission as she advances to the next round of the Owen’s Hart Women’s Tournament to the Semi-Finals Round of the Tournament.
The Main Event Match: Will Ospreay vs. Mark Davis in an Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament Semi-Final Round Match | The Match Rating: ****.75 — This was an awesome match. Will Ospreay took on his former friend, the AEW National Champion, Mark Davis, in what I must say was an amazing match. Will Ospreay used a submission to get the win, but afterwards we saw Don Callis ‘ family try to strike. The Death Riders came to the rescue of Will Ospreay. Now, we have Will Ospreay going to the AEW Forbidden Door in the Finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament final-round match.
My Official Match of the Night for the June 3rd Episode of AEW Dynamite: Will Ospreay vs. Mark Davis in an Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament Semi-Final Round Match | The Match Rating: ****.75 — This was an awesome match. Will Ospreay faced his former friend, AEW National Champion Mark Davis, in an amazing bout. Ospreay used a submission hold to win, but after the match, Don Callis’ family tried to strike him. The Death Riders rescued Ospreay. Now, he’s heading to the AEW Forbidden Door in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament final.
My June 3rd Official Episode Grade for AEW Dynamite: 8.75/10 (A-) — A very solid episode of AEW Dynamite, a very strong episode as we lead into Forbidden Door, which is a couple of weeks away. The matches on this episode were very fun to watch and provided strong in-ring material. I’m very excited to see next week’s matches as we are close to finding the full final matches for the Men’s & Women’s Owen Hart Tournament.
