My Official Thoughts on the April 1st Episode of AEW Dynamite:

My Official Thoughts: One of the most talked-about moments was the return of Chris Jericho. What made it stand out wasn’t just that he came back, but how awkward and confusing the whole segment felt. It seemed like he was clearly trying to position himself for a big reaction, almost expecting a huge crowd pop, but the audience response just didn’t fully match that energy. That disconnect made the segment feel a bit off, like there was a mismatch between how he was presenting himself and how fans currently see him. It’ll be interesting to see if this is intentional, maybe leaning into a character shift, or if it’s just a sign that his current run needs a reset. Outside of that moment, though, the rest of the show delivered in a big way. The in-ring action was sharp, with matches that felt competitive and meaningful rather than just filler. AEW did a good job of progressing multiple storylines at once, making the show feel cohesive instead of disjointed. Several promos also stood out for actually building anticipation, rather than just taking up time, which is exactly what you want this close to a pay-per-view. You can really feel that All Elite Wrestling is tightening things up heading into Dynasty. There’s a stronger sense of direction, with feuds becoming more defined and stakes starting to feel higher. Moments are being given room to breathe, and the pacing of the show felt much more balanced compared to some previous episodes. Overall, aside from the odd Jericho segment, this episode did exactly what it needed to do: build momentum, keep fans engaged, and make you look forward to what’s coming next. If they can maintain this level of consistency, AEW Dynasty could end up being one of their stronger events this year.

The April 1st Episode of AEW Dynamite — My Official Match Ratings:

The Opening Match: Brody King, Jack Perry & Kenny Omega vs. The Demand (Bishop Kaun, Ricochet & Toa Liona) in a Six-Man Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: **** — I thought this was a very fun Trios Match. You've got the man, the legend Kenny Omega, teaming with Brody King & the AEW National Champion Jack Perry as they took on the Demand, but this was a lot of fun. I liked the in-ring action, and Kenny Omega's team came away with the victory.

The 2nd Match: Will Ospreay vs. PAC in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ****.50 — This was an incredible match between two elite-level wrestlers. PAC continues to come across as an absolute badass, while Will Ospreay brought serious intensity and pushed him every step of the way. The aftermath added even more intrigue, and now with Jon Moxley set to face Ospreay for the AEW Continental Championship, the stakes feel even higher. Heading into AEW Dynasty, it really feels like we could be on the verge of a title change.

The 3rd Match: The Brawling Birds (Alex Windsor & Jamie Hayter) & Mina Shirakawa vs. Triangle of Madness (Julia Hart, Thekla & Skye Blue) in a Six-Women Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: **.50 — An underwhelming Six-Women Tag Team Match that had a solid amount of talent in this match, but it didn't quite deliver like I thought it would. At the end, the babyface team came away with the victory in the end.

The Main Event Match: MJF [c] vs. Mike Bailey in an AEW World Title Eliminator Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — MJF and Speeball Bailey had a very fun match. This added a lot to the story with MJF & Kenny Omega as Mike Speedball came to the defense of Kenny Omega earlier in the night, but MJF came away with the win in the Main Event of the show.

The April 1st Episode of AEW Dynamite — My Official Match of the Night: Will Ospreay vs. PAC in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ****.50 — This was a very sick match between two amazing wrestlers. PAC is just a badass, and Will Ospreay really gave it to him in this match. We saw how it was after the match, but now the Jon Moxley & Will Ospreay Match will be for the AEW Continental Title, in which I can sense a Title Change at AEW Dynasty.

The April 1st Episode of AEW Dynamite — My Official Episode Grade: 7.25/10 (B-) — This was a very solid episode of AEW Dynamite. We saw a very confusing return of Chris Jericho, where he tried to get the crowd to pop for him, but the rest of the show, outside of that, was very enjoyable, as we are almost close to AEW Dynasty.

Next Week AEW Dynamite April 8th Episode in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Live on TBS — The Announced Matches & Segments:

  1. Brody King, Darby Allin & Jack Perry vs. The Don Callis Family (Andrade El Idolo, Konosuke Takeshita & Mark Davis) in a Six-Man Tag Team Match.

  2. Willow Nightingale (c) vs. Queen Aminata in an AEW TBS Title Match.
