My Thoughts on the October 7th Episode of AEW Dynamite:

My Thoughts: The opening match between Jon Moxley and Tomohiro Ishii set a brutal pace, with both men trading stiff shots and power moves. Moxley’s win by submission was hard-earned in a contest that left both looking strong and respected. The street fight between The Hurt Syndicate and The Demend amped up the chaos, leaning into pure violence with creative teamwork, standout performances from Ricochet and Lashley, and an emphatic table finish. The Syndicate’s chemistry and raw athleticism made them shine. Jurassic Express’s quick win over KM & Orion was a fun showcase, displaying the duo’s chemistry and serving as a reset for their tag ambitions. Kyle Fletcher’s TNT Title defense against Kyle O’Reilly was the episode’s technical highlight. Fletcher, guided by Lance Archer, survived targeted attacks on his arm and responded with agility and grit, winning a hard-fought and highly praised bout that drew a standing ovation. Mercedes Mone proved her dominance in a short-but-competitive TBS Title defense against Lacey Lane, showcasing her ring IQ and control, and further establishing herself as a pillar in the women’s division. The Don Callis Family’s victory in the high-stakes Double Jeopardy tag match was chaotic, featuring quick tags, power exchanges, and Okada’s signature Rainmaker—it solidified them as a force and underscored the stakes when champions collide. The main event between Orange Cassidy and PAC delivered both the entertainment and the drama that a main event should. Cassidy’s laid-back opening gave way to an intense back-and-forth, filled with clever counters and big spots, with Cassidy’s roll-up win capping the show on a high.

The October 7th Episode of AEW Dynamite — The Match Ratings:

The Opening Match: Jon Moxley (with Marnia Shafir) vs. Tomohiro Ishii | The Match Rating: **** — In a classic, hard-hitting affair to kick off the show, Jon Moxley—accompanied by Marina Shafir—went to war with the legendary Tomohiro Ishii. Their intense, striking-heavy exchange set the crowd ablaze from the bell. Moxley’s rugged style clashed nicely with Ishii’s tenacity; both men traded stiff blows and power moves. The match saw several near-falls after big lariats and suplexes. Ultimately, Moxley capitalized on a misstep, locking in a submission to secure the win, but both men left the ring looking battered and earned the respect of the fans.

2nd Match: The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley, MVP & Shelton Benjamin) vs. The Demend (Bishop Kaun, Ricochet & Toa Liona) in a Six-Man Tag Team Street Fight | The Match Rating: ***.75 —This chaotic street fight saw both teams utilize the no-DQ stipulation. The Hurt Syndicate relied on their experience and chemistry, working together to isolate their opponents at key moments. MVP’s crafty leadership orchestrated several creative spots involving chairs and tables. Ricochet’s aerial offense was a highlight, electrifying the crowd; however, Lashley’s brute strength and Benjamin’s athleticism provided the deciding edge. After a spiraling brawl around the ringside and high-risk moves from all participants, Lashley secured the pinfall after a Dominator through a table, sealing a hard-fought victory.

3rd Match: The Jurassic Express (Jack Perry & Luchasaurus) vs. KM & Orion in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: N/A — A relatively short match, Jurassic Express returned to television with purpose. Jack Perry’s energy and Luchasaurus’ dominance were on full display against the debuting team of KM and Orion. Despite some early offense from the newcomers, Perry and Luchasaurus quickly took control with tandem maneuvers. The match ended with Jurassic Express picking up a decisive victory, signaling their intent to climb the tag team rankings once again.

Both men received a standing ovation for their efforts.

5th Match: Mercedes Mone (c) vs. Lacey Lane in an AEW TBS Title Match | The Match Rating: **.25 — In a brief yet spirited contest, Mercedes Mone defended her TBS Title against the upstart Lacey Lane. Mone’s experience showed early as she controlled the pace, grounding Lane with technical holds. The match was short but showcased Mone’s dominance in the division.

Okada and Takeshita dominated early, isolating Bandido and utilizing quick tags. Krody King’s power shifted momentum briefly, leading to some brutal exchanges with Takeshita. Bandido brought the crowd to its feet with athletic dives, but Okada’s poise and experience kept his team in control. After a wild series of finishers and near-falls, Okada hit the Rainmaker on Bandido for the victory, solidifying The Don Callis Family as a dominant force.

The Main Event Match: Orange Cassidy vs. PAC in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: **** — The main event showcased the rivalry between Orange Cassidy and PAC.
