Thoughts of the Paper View Event | AEW Dynasty in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | Live Event Show:

Thoughts: It was a very odd event, I must say. There were some bright spots, such as the Owen Hart Tournament matches, but the main event left a nasty stain on everything else as the Young Bucks returned and cost Swerve Strickland a chance to become a two-time AEW World Champion. Overall, it was a rather mediocre event, to say the least. Now, the road to Double or Nothing begins as we shift our focus toward that event. some bright spo

AEW Paper View Event | AEW Dynasty in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | Match Ratings:

The Opening Match: Will Ospreay vs. Kevin Knight in the Owen Hart Foundation 2025 Men’s Tournament Quarter Match | Match Rating: ****.25 | What an introduction to Kevin Knight on his 1st ever PPV Match for AEW. I enjoyed this opener a lot. Kevin Knight had a very good showing, and he looked like a million bucks. Will Ospreay win and advance into the next round in the Owen Hart Tournament. He's my pick to win it all. But it is a very good match to start everything off.

2nd Match: The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin) (c) vs. The Learning Tree (Big Bill & Bryan Keith) in a Tag Team Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championships | Match Rating: **.50 | This was an okay tag team match. I thought this match could've been a lot more, but the Hurt Syndicate had some help as MJF blasted Big Bill from the crowd to help out the Hurt Syndicate. I knew they weren't going to lose the title, yet I expected them to hold it for a very long time, but it was an okay tag team match.

3rd Match: Mercedes Moné vs. Juila Hart in the Owen Hart Foundation 2025 Women’s Tournament Quarter Match | Match Rating: *** | Solid match. Mercedes Moné seemed to carry this match a lot because she had a very good performance. She has a lot on her hands at the moment with the Owen Hart Tournament and Athena. But this was a solid match between both women, and I wouldn't mind if they ran this back in the future time.

4th Match: Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, PAC & Wheeler Yuta) (c) vs. Rated FTR (Cash Wheeler, Cope & Dax Harwood) in a Trios Match for the AEW World Trios Championship | Match Rating: ***.25 | This was a lot better than I expected, but people weren't talking about the match. People were talking about the insane attack that FTR did on Adam Copeland as they turned on him, and both men battered Adam Copeland to give him multiple blows to the neck area, which is a super sensitive area for Adam Copeland. This turn was needed for FTR as they haven't done anything notable in quite some time.

5th Match: Toni Storm (with Luther) (c) vs. Megan Bayne in a Singles Match for the AEW Women’s World Championship | Match Rating: **** | A hell of a match. This was such a good women's title match. Toni Storm's current reign had some of the best matches in her time in AEW during this reign with Mariah May now Megan Bayne. This match also manage to put over Megan Bayne a lot I can see her be the one who dethrone Mercedes Moné but what a damn match between both of these ladies. This is what happens when you let the women get a lot of time and trust they deliver every time.

6th Match: Kyle Fletcher vs. Mark Briscoe in the Owen Hart Foundation 2025 Men’s Tournament Quarter Match | Match Rating: ****.50 | Every match these two had against each other has been marvelous. This match was so damn good. Kyle Fletcher got the win and advanced to the next round, but man, this was some top-notch wrestling that was seen in this match.

7th Match: Chris Jericho (c) vs. Bandido in a Title vs. Mask Match for the ROH World Championship | Match Rating: ** | This match made no sense they waved off the original result and had the match redone, and Bandido became a 2x ROH World Champion. Chris Jericho needs to be off TV because he isn't good anymore he's very horrid in the ring, and his matches aren't enjoyable anymore.

8th Match: Daniel Garcia (c) vs. Adam Cole in a No Time Limit Match for the AEW TNT Championship | Match Rating: **.75 | Adam Cole's run since returning hasn't been good to me, but he managed to finally become a singles champion in AEW now he's the new AEW TNT Championship. Daniel Garcia, I feel like, has run his course in AEW I don't see him doing major notable things other than mid-card work.

9th Match: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Mike Bailey vs. Ricochet in a Triple Threat Match for the AEW International Championship | Match Rating: ***** | The Match of the Night. Kenny Omega, Mike "Speedball" Bailey, and Ricochet all tore the house down. This should've had a main event the show would've been a better thing to end with than what was originally slotted for the main event. This was a fantastic match. Nothing I can say that was bad about it because the match was perfect. One of the best matches of 2025 for me.

The Main Event Match: Jon Moxley (with Marina Shafir) (c) vs. Swerve Strickland (with Prince Nana) in a Singles Match for the AEW World Championship | Match Rating: * | This match wasn't good. I'm highly disappointed that Swerve Strickland didn't win. This was the perfect time, as AEW was on a hot streak with how everything was going for them. Jon Moxley looked sluggish, slow, and horrid in the ring. The highlight of this match was Hangman Page coming to help Swerve Strickland. The Young Bucks made their return and helped Death Riders Leader Jon Moxley retain his AEW World Championship. This match caused a lot of media backlash due to the result of the match. Now, Jon Moxley is still the champion. I'm assuming Swerve Stickland will shift his focus to The Young Bucks.
