Thoughts on the February 15th Edition of the AEW Grand Slam in Australia:
Thoughts: This was very enjoyable. I think the crowd elevated this event even more with their roars. The best match of the show was the show opener. We got to see Toni Storm win in her home country, Adam Copeland passed out from Jon Moxley, and we saw a super-team combined with Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay.
The February 15th | Edition of AEW Grand Slam in Australia | Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay vs. The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher) (with Mark Davis) in a Tag Team Match | Match Rating: ****.75 | This was an awesome opener—the best match of the night. Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay as a Tag Team is like Goku and Frieza teaming together both men hated each other at one point and became an unstoppable force. Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita delivered big time. Kyle Fletcher was in front of his hometown of Australia. Kenny Omega combined his finisher with Will Ospreay to hit the One-Winged Hidden Blade for the victory.
2nd Match: Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Harley Cameron in a Singles Match for the AEW TBS Championship | Match Rating: ***.50 | A very solid match. The crowd was hoping for the hometown girlie to get the win. Mercedes Moné got the win as the crowd booed but I thought Harley Cameron should've won this match in my opinion.
3rd Match: Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli & Jon Moxley) vs. Adam Copeland & Jay White in a Brisbane Brawl Match | Match Rating: **.75 | This was the weakest match on the show. I didn't enjoy this match. Very surprised that Adam Copeland lost this match. Now I'm assuming at AEW Revolution that Jon Moxley might drop the title to Adam Copeland.
4th Match: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Buddy Matthews in a Singles Match for the AEW Continental Championship | Match Rating: ****.25 | This was a very good match. Buddy Matthews shockingly carried the match. Okada didn't seem to be very intuned with this match and seemed sluggish. Buddy Matthews had the hometown hero pop as they were hoping for him to win. This was the 2nd best match of the show easily Buddy Matthews had a great showing.
The Main Event Match: Toni Storm vs. Mariah May in a Singles Match for the AEW Women’s World Championship | Match Rating: ***.75 | A great way to end the feud. Toni Storm reclaims the title she lost in front of her hometown. This match wasn't close to their ALL-IN Match at Wembley but it was very solid in my eyes.
The February 15th | AEW Grand Slam in Australia | Match of the Night: Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay vs. The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher) (with Mark Davis) in a Tag Team Match | Match Rating: ****.75
The February 15th | Edition of AEW Grand Slam in Australia | Episode Grade: 8.75/10 (A) | A very good TV Special Event. Four of the five matches have been delivered. I thought the crowd was electric and I hope they come to Australia in the future.
