My Official Thoughts on AEW Redemption:
My Official Thoughts: One of the rare times I felt an AEW PPV was Boring at some points of the show. It started very strong, but after The Dogs match, that's where we had some average matches, but the show ended in a good way with the ALL IN London Main Event program finally getting some added heat. But now the Road to ALL IN London has begun.
The Opening Match: Mike Bailey vs. El Clon vs. Jack Perry vs. Komander vs. Nick Wayne vs. The Beast Mortos in an AEW International Title No. 1 Contender's Six-Way Ladder Match | The Match Rating: **** — This was a very fun opener. Ladder Matches in general are always can't-miss matches. But in this match, I was rooting for Mike Bailey, as he was before match predicition to win this match. I did like the chaos and drama that filled the match. But in the end, Mike Bailey, in his home country, got the No. 1 Contender's Contract now at AEW Grand Slam Mexico for the AEW International Championship.
The 2nd Match: The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) vs. Death Riders (Jon Moxley & Will Ospreay) in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — This was very much story-driven, with the story being told that Will Ospreay is very much caring for others, but the teachings that Jon Moxley is trying to instill in Will Ospreay. But Will Ospreay didn't pull the trigger, which led to The Young Bucks capitalizing to get the win. I don't like the fact that the Death Riders are inserting themselves into the ALL IN London Main Event Story; it's not needed, but besides that, the match was very solid. I didn't like the no-selling of the 450 Splash that connected beautifully, but it did no damage; that is the certain stuff that annoys me, but overall solid match.
The 3rd Match: Kyle Fletcher (c) vs. Bandido in an AEW International Title Match | The Match Rating: ****.75 — Best Match of the whole show. This match was rockstar-level Bandido; this should be his last PPV loss for a long time because he needs a title. I know he's the current ROH World Champion, but the prestige of that title now doesn't hold that much weight; he needs to have something for ALL IN. Kyle Fletcher was marvelous. Now he put Bandido down; now he focuses on the new No. 1 Contender in Mike Bailey, as at AEW Grand Slam Mexico, he'll defend his title against Mike Bailey.
The 4th Match: The Dogs (Clark Connors & David Finlay) vs. Bang Bang Gang (Jay White & Juice Robinson) in a Double Chain Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: *.75 — This was a poor match. It should’ve just been Jay White taking on David Finlay. This whole Double Chain Tag Team Match wasn’t needed. They could’ve excluded this match from the show. Then the Death Riders came to attack the Bang Bang Gang, which allowed The Dogs to get the win. All around, it was just a boring match. This shoots down the stock of everyone involved, and the match has also been receiving poor reviews. One of the rare times where an AEW match was horrendous.
The 5th Match: Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Maya World in an AEW TBS Title Match | The Match Rating: *** — It was an okay match, but super happy with the ending results. This is how you reward wrestlers after seeing them working hard, and on her birthday, she becomes the AEW TBS Champion as Maya World pulled off one of the biggest upsets in 2026 in AEW as she defeated Hikaru Shida for the AEW TBS Title. The match itself was okay. But I'm just happy that Maya World's work paid off; now she's champion, and I hope this run establishes her as one of the next AEW Women's World Champions in the future.
The 6th Match: Cage And Cope (Adam Copeland & Christian Cage) (c) vs. Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli & PAC) in an AEW World Tag Team Title Match | The Match Rating: ***.25 — This was another match on the card I thought could've been excluded. But Adam Copeland and Christian Cage do need to defend the titles, as they took down the Death Riders B-Team in Claudio Castagnoli & PAC. But they retained, which was expected. Then we got the 3rd Match for ALL IN London as The Young Bucks will be challenging Cage And Cope for the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
The 7th Match: Jericho vs. Tommaso Ciampa in a No Holds Barred Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — One of the rare times a Chris Jericho Match actually was good to me, and I generally enjoyed it. Tommaso Ciampa should be in the AEW World Title Picture after this match because his performance was the main highlight of this match, feeding into being a heel putting on a Boston Bruins Jersey mixed in with the fact he started jumping the plushie of the Montreal Canadiens Mascot. But the match ended with Jericho getting the win, and I don't think this feud is over, knowing the Jericho Vortex.
The 8th Match: Mark Davis (c) vs. Andrade El Idolo in an AEW National Title Match | The Match Rating: **** — How You Know? Andrade El Idolo finally got his 1st Singles Title in AEW as he defeated Mark Davis to become the Brand New AEW National Champion. This match was solid, but it had clunky moments. Mark Davis was marvelous in this match, same with Andrade El Idolo. This was one of the matches I expected to do well, and I was satisfied with what I saw.
The 9th Match: Thekla (c) vs. Willow Nightingale in an AEW Women's World Title Match | The Match Rating: ***.75 — Good Match; I have some issues. I was upset by the way Willow Nightingale won. I feel like they could've done a story to make it feel more special for her winning the AEW Women's World Title. Thekla had a great title reign; she did a great job, hoping she has something for her at ALL IN London. But the match was good; we have now at ALL IN London Willow Nightingale defending her AEW Women's World Title against Mercedes Moné in one of the marquee matches for ALL IN London.
The Main Event Match: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Kevin Knight in an AEW World Title Match | The Match Rating: ****.50 — Kevin Knight: This is his first of many future AEW PPV main events, but this was a great performance by him. So happy he's in the Main Event Scene; even though coming up short, he made himself more of a star. Kenny Omega had an awesome performance as well in retaining his AEW World Title. After the match, the Death Riders came out, and we saw Will Ospreay strike Jon Moxley; then we saw the shocking moment where Kenny Omega hit the One-Winged Angel to send a message before ALL IN London next month. Now the tensions are going to start growing, and this is where I hope the feud becomes amazing.
My AEW Redemption Match of the Night: Kyle Fletcher (c) vs. Bandido in an AEW International Title Match | The Match Rating: ****.75 — Best match of the entire show. This was rockstar-level Bandido, and this should be his last PPV loss for a long time because he needs a major title. Yes, he’s the current ROH World Champion, but that belt doesn’t carry the same prestige right now; he needs something meaningful heading into ALL IN. Kyle Fletcher was outstanding. Now that he has put Bandido down, his focus shifts to the new No. 1 Contender, Mike Bailey, as he will defend the AEW International Championship against Bailey at AEW Grand Slam Mexico.
My AEW Redemption Official Event Grade: 6.50/10 (C+) — One of the rare times an AEW PPV felt boring in parts. It started very strong, but after The Dogs match, the card dipped into some average bouts. Thankfully, the show closed on a high note with the ALL IN London main event program finally heating up as the Road to ALL IN London begins.
