My Thoughts on the February 9th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW:
My Thoughts: I just wonder what WWE is doing when it comes to writing these shows lately. It feels like they don’t have a clear vision for how to book the matches or build compelling storylines. It’s as if they’ve forgotten how to craft matchups that feel important, or how to really hit the nail on the head when it comes to character development and long-term storytelling. There were a few things I genuinely enjoyed from this episode, some segments had potential, and a couple of matches were solid from an in-ring standpoint, but the majority of the show felt like it dragged. There were long stretches where nothing felt urgent or meaningful, and I found myself losing interest instead of getting more invested as the show went on. And why are we still doing this Austin Theory experiment? At this point, it’s clear he just isn’t the guy they’re trying to make him out to be. WWE keeps presenting him as a major player, but the character isn’t connecting, the presentation feels forced, and the momentum simply isn’t there. Every time they try to reboot or rebuild him, it comes off more like the company insisting he’s a star rather than actually making him one through strong booking and natural progression. The Vision has also been awful as a unit recently. Whatever they initially wanted this group to be, it hasn’t translated to engaging television. Their segments feel repetitive, the chemistry doesn’t click, and their storylines haven’t added anything exciting to the show. Instead of elevating the card, they’ve become another reason parts of the program feel flat and skippable. It’s just unappealing TV, and it drags down the overall quality of the episodes. What would fix a lot of this, at least as a starting point, is a proper WWE Draft. They desperately need one. The rosters don’t feel fresh at all; it’s basically been the same combinations and rivalries cycling in and out since 2024. When you see the same faces interacting week after week with very little change or progression, it becomes predictable. A draft could shake things up by creating new feuds, new alliances, and new opportunities for talent that’s been stuck in the background. If WWE truly wants fresh, exciting, and consistently good content on their weekly episodes, they have to change things up in a meaningful way. That means a serious roster reshuffle, a renewed focus on long-term storytelling, and a willingness to move on from experiments that clearly aren’t working. Until then, we’re going to keep getting shows like this, a couple of bright spots buried under a lot of stale, uninspired television.
The February 9th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — The Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: The Usos (Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) (c) vs. Alpha Academy (Akira Tozawa & Otis) in a WWE World Tag Team Title Match | The Match Rating: ** — This was a mediocre WWE World Tag Team Title Match. The Usos looked horrendous in this match; they couldn’t keep up with Alpha Academy at all. I thought it was quite funny seeing how The Usos couldn’t keep up with Akira Tozawa at all in the ring as Akira Tozawa was going off in this match, but if you know Akira Tozawa, he’s probably one of the better wrestlers in WWE. Otis looked solid in this match. I really missed watching him wrestle on RAW. But the Usos got the win against Alpha Academy as they hit a 1D on Otis to retain their WWE World Tag Team Titles in their first title defense. The Usos, if I were WWE Creative, need to drop the belts because every Tag Match they have had since they reformed has been average to below in-ring quality.
The 2nd Match: Rhea Ripley vs. Ivy Nile vs. Lyra Valkyria in a WWE Women’s Elimination Chamber Triple Threat Qualifying Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — Ivy Nile showed out in this match; she was the best wrestler in this match, which included Lyra Valkyria and Rhea Ripley. This was a very fun sprinit I thought this match was very fast-paced, and hard-hitting with some sick moments like Ivy Nile suplexing both Lyra Valkyria and Rhea Ripley at the same time. What I also liked was the chemistry we saw between Lyra Valkyria and Rhea. Ripley, when they started to trade blows, that’s a match I would be highly interested in if they were allowed to give us that match. But man Ivy Nikle is someone I have been high on she been overlooked and always booked on the prelims like WWE Main Event before RAW ehenevcer she is given the ball she always hoops in the ring I really hope they can give her something becauise she didn’t even eat the pin it was Lyra Valkyria so they need to figure something out for her in the future. But Rhea Ripley joins Tiffany Stratton as the only qualified participants for the WWE Women’s Elimination Chamber Match.
The 3rd Match: Maxxine Dupri vs. Nattie in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: N/A — This match was very pointless I don’t think it lasted two minutes but Nattie is her alter persona the “Lowkey Legend” the match started with Maxxine Dupri having the Ankle Lock instiched but that didn’t last for long as Nattie dismantled Maxxine Dupri which ended in a DQ even after the bell rung Nattie kept hammering away on Maxxine Dupri as she looked to lock in the Sharpshooter we saw AJ Lee make the save as Nattie ran off through the crowd. I saw where this was leading to as AJ Lee was helping to attend to Maxxine Dupri to the back, we saw Backy Lynch throw AJ Lee into the ringpost as the crowd boo’d, as Becky Lynch sends a warning shot before their match at WWE Elimination Chamber for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. But the match was pointless, but the after-match segment puts a lot of interesting directions. Maybe we see an AJ Lee & Maxxine Dupri vs. Becky Lynch & Nattie Tag Team Match before the WWE Elimination Chamber Match between AJ Lee and Becky Lynch. We shall see.
The 4th Match: Je’Von Evans & Original El Grande Americano vs. Los Americanos (Bravo Americano & Rayo Americano) (with El Grande Americano) in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: *** — I thought it was going to be Leon Slater, but the Original El Grande Americano is here. I find it funny how in WWE, Chad Gable’s version is a babyface, and in AAA, it’s a heel version, but for Ludwig Kaiser’s version, he’s a heel in WWE but a mega babyface in AAA. But the start of the match was cool, seeing Je’Von Evans get some cool offense in. I thought he was done with the Los Americanos, but I stand wrong. Original El Grande Americano comes in with a hot tag and takes out both Bravo Americano and Rayo Americano as Je’Von Evans and Original El Grande Americano hype up the crowd. I was really enjoying this match. But that ending where Je’Von Evans hit a insane OG Cutter and an outside dive as the Original El Grande Americano gets the win for the team but after the match we saw El Grande Americano take out the Original El Grande Americano and try to rip the mask off to reveal who the mask man is but the Original El Grande Americano got a hand of El Grande Americano to rip his mask off but was saved by Bravo Americanio & Rayo Americano nut man Je’Vin Evans had an highlight reel moment he’s special.
The Main Event Match: LA Knight vs. Austin Theory (with Paul Heyman) vs. Penta in a Men’s Elimination Chamber Triple Threat Qualifying Match | The Match Rating: **.25 — I have to say this Austin Theory experiment needs to end. The Vision as a whole is awful now. But this match was below average. Man, why did Austin Theory need to be in this match? LA Knight, now known as the Vision Hunter, is trying to stake his claim to be in the Men's Elimination Chamber Match same could be said for Penta. But the match started very slowly, and I really was bored at the beginning of the match. There were some moments when the match started to get better, but this company is creatively bankrupt; it's very evident, and it shows a lot. But the masked man reappears to help out LA Knight secure the win as the Masked Man, who eventually will be revealed as the returning Seth Rollins, took out Austin Theory to help LA Knight. WWE, please get better. This feels like the people writing have no inspiration or desire to write. Shows have a WWE Draft to shake something up because these rosters and everything need a fresher start.
The February 9th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — The Match of the Night: Rhea Ripley vs. Ivy Nile vs. Lyra Valkyria in a WWE Women’s Elimination Chamber Triple Threat Qualifying Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — Ivy Nile stole the show in this match she was hitting beautiful German Suplexes, and on top of that she was really involved in this match. Suprisingly she didn’t even eat the pin-fall to lose it was Lyra Valkyria who suffered the loss. But this was a lot of fun, easily the Match of the Night. Now, Rhea Ripley is inserted into the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match.
The February 9th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — The Episode Grade: 4.25/10 (D+) — I just wonder what WWE is doing when it comes to writing these shows. It’s like they don’t know how to match-make, or they don’t know how to really hit the head on certain things. There was a few things I enjoyed from this episode but the majoity of the show felt like it dragged sometimes and why are we still on this Austin Theory experiment again he isn’t the guy The Vision has been awful as a unit as of recent it’s just unappealing TV what will fix all of this is a WWE Draft they need one despartely because this is not fresh rosters now because they been like this since 2024 they need to change it up if they want fresh, and good content on their weeky episodes.
