Dragon Lee Re-Signs With WWE: The Rise of RAW’s Next Breakout Superstar

Dragon Lee’s journey from a promising prospect to a featured star on Monday Night RAW has taken another major step forward, as the high-flying luchador has officially re-signed with WWE.
For months, speculation had surrounded Dragon Lee’s WWE contract as it approached its expiration. At the same time, rumors regarding his brother, Dralistico, and the status of his AEW deal fueled speculation that the two brothers could eventually reunite under the WWE and AAA banner.
Now, Dragon Lee is staying put, and his decision comes at a pivotal point in his career.
Since signing with WWE in 2022, Lee has experienced plenty of highs and lows. However, his recent run has transformed him into one of the most exciting competitors on Monday Night RAW and a featured attraction in AAA following WWE’s acquisition of the promotion in April 2025.
A Championship-Winning Career
Dragon Lee’s accomplishments in WWE continue to grow. His championship résumé includes:
1x WWE World Tag Team Champion alongside AJ Styles.
1x WWE Speed Champion.
1x NXT North American Champion.
While Lee demonstrated tremendous athleticism early in his WWE tenure, 2024 was a challenging period in which many questioned whether the company viewed him as a future main-event-caliber performer or a talented member of the lower card.
That perception began to change in 2025.
His alignment with Rey Mysterio, combined with rivalries involving El Grande Americano, Gunther, The Judgment Day, and The New Day, gave Lee greater exposure and opportunities to demonstrate that he could compete against established WWE stars.
But his partnership with AJ Styles ultimately became one of the defining chapters of his career.
The AJ Styles Partnership Changed Everything
Dragon Lee’s rise accelerated when he teamed with AJ Styles. The duo defeated The Judgment Day to capture the WWE World Tag Team Championship, beginning a memorable run against nearly every major team in RAW’s tag team division.
The partnership gave Lee something invaluable: consistent opportunities to compete in meaningful matches alongside a future Hall of Famer.
Styles also entrusted Lee with incorporating the legendary Styles Clash into his own arsenal as a signature move, creating another connection between the two competitors.
Their championship run helped establish Lee as more than an incredible athlete. He was becoming a dependable performer capable of delivering in high-profile situations.
Unfortunately, their partnership took a devastating turn at the 2026 Royal Rumble, when Gunther retired Styles in a career-threatening match.
Gunther Rivalry Takes Dragon Lee to Another Level
Styles’ retirement became personal for Dragon Lee.
Having credited Styles with helping him climb the WWE ladder, Lee pursued Gunther in an attempt to avenge his friend's career-ending defeat.
Although Lee ultimately came up short, the rivalry proved to be another important milestone. Sharing the ring with one of WWE’s most physically imposing and accomplished competitors helped demonstrate that Lee belonged in the conversation with the company’s established stars.
Sometimes, a rivalry's significance extends beyond its final result. For Lee, the Gunther feud was about proving he could stand toe-to-toe with the best, even when victory remained elusive.
A WrestleMania Debut and an Intercontinental Championship Breakthrough
Following the Gunther rivalry, Dragon Lee expanded his ambitions across WWE and AAA.
He entered the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship picture while also pursuing the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Lee challenged Penta for the Intercontinental Championship on Monday Night RAW but was unsuccessful.
He subsequently qualified on WWE Main Event for the six-man ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania, earning the first WrestleMania match of his WWE career.
His momentum continued after WrestleMania.
Lee challenged for the Intercontinental Championship in Mexico City, delivering what became a career-defining performance. Although he failed to capture the championship, the match won over more fans and further strengthened his reputation as a major contender.
Most recently, Lee competed in a RAW main event against Chad Gable and Rey Mysterio in a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship.
The results have not always gone his way, but his growing involvement in championship matches demonstrates just how far he has progressed.
Dragon Lee Is Here to Stay
Dragon Lee’s WWE career has never been a straight path to success. He has experienced setbacks, missed opportunities, and periods when his position on the card appeared uncertain.
However, his 2025 and 2026 runs have changed the conversation.
He has won championships, worked alongside AJ Styles, developed a personal rivalry with Gunther, made his WrestleMania debut, and established himself as a regular presence in important championship matches.
His re-signing ensures that WWE can continue building on that momentum.
The possibility of Dralistico joining WWE and AAA adds another exciting dimension to Lee’s future. A reunion between the brothers could create a compelling tag team for Monday Night RAW and potentially reshape the division.
For now, Dragon Lee has earned the opportunity to continue writing his own story.
Congratulations on the contract extension, Dragon Lee. The best chapter of his WWE career may still be ahead of him.
