My Thoughts on the May 2nd WWE Friday Night SmackDown Episode:

My Thoughts: This episode of SmackDown was balanced; the matches were okay, nothing too spectacular or something that you'll remember, but I did enjoy some of the segments on the show. The only thing I hope for is a Draft to reset this roster. They need to fix this SmackDown roster because it lacks in certain areas big time, and it doesn't help that some of the depth pieces have been released from the company, but other than that an okay episode of SmackDown.

The May 2nd | WWE Friday Night SmackDown | Match Ratings:

The Opening Match: LA Knight vs. Damian Priest in a Singles Match | Match Rating: *** | It was a very solid match before the no contest. I genuinely enjoyed this matchup because it was something fresh instead of the repetitive stuff they tend to do on SmackDown, recycling the same matches instead of making new ones. Hope they can run this match back in the future because I would like a nice, long match between these two with a winner at the end of it. Overall, solid stuff by both men.

2nd Match: Fraxiom (Axiom & Nathan Frazer) vs. Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) in a Tag Team Match | Match Rating: ***.75 | This match was solid, but it was ruined by two botches by the referee, the three count which was by mistake, and the missed kick out. Fraxiom has been booked to look like a beast, and they have done a good job so far, as they booked them back-to-back weeks with victories over Los Garzas & Pretty Deadly. Elton Prince seemed to get hurt in this match. I hope everything is okay with him. But I like this booking for Fraxiom, a slow, steady build before they can challenge for the belts in a few months, which I assume. But I still want that Fraxiom vs. Motor City Match that would be a spectacular match.

3rd Match: Aleister Black vs. The Miz (with Carmelo Hayes) in a Singles Match | Match Rating: ***.25 | A good solid match for Aleister Black as he looked very good in this match probably the best he looked in the ring in quite sometime as he gave The Miz his best match in probably two years. The reversal and Black Mass that Aleister Black did was the highlight for me. But they teased his first official feud back in WWE as Carmelo Hayes came face to face with him in the ring after the match. But overall solid return match for Aleister Black.

4th Match: Zelina Vega vs. Piper Niven (with Alba Frye & Chelsea Green) in a Singles Match | Match Rating: **.50 | This was a very up-and-down match. This was Zelina Vega's first match since winning the WWE Women’s United States Championship, and it was just all over the place. The chemistry wasn’t there in this match, and I thought it lacked a lot. Zelina Vega got the win over Piper Niven. I hope eventually a new, fresh feud I on the horizon for this title because Chelsea Green has been involved with the belt's history since December, and she needs to break away and shift to being the Women’s Money in the Bank Winner.

5th Match: Rey Fenix vs. Santos Escobar in a Singles Match | Match Rating: **** | I thought this was the Match of the Night. I genuinely enjoyed this match, seeing Tey Fenix in the ring is always a joy because you know you’ll see some fast-paced action in his matches. Santos Escobar had his first singles match since February when he faced LA Knight. But this was a solid match. Santos Escobar looked solid in the match. There were some moments of sloppiness, but it started to pick up towards the end, and Rey Fenix captured the win as he got the pin-fall victory. Rey Fenix has been building his stock up, and I feel like an important feud will come, but for now, he needs to continue to rack up some wins and further establish his place on the SmackDown Mid-Card scene.

The Main Event Match: Jade Cargill & Tiffany Stratton vs. Naomi & Nia Jax in a Tag Team Match | Match Rating: ***.50 | This was a very solid tag team match to close out the night. Nia Jax and Naomi's team looked pretty solid as they had some chemistry and were putting down Cargill and Stratton. But in the end, they managed to pull it out as Jade Cargill and Tiffany Stratton came away with the win, but Naomi and Nia Jax got the final laugh.

The May 2nd | WWE Friday Night SmackDown | The Match of the Night: Rey Fenix vs. Santos Escobar in a Singles Match | Match Rating: ****

The May 2nd | WWE Friday Night SmackDown | Episode Grade: 6.25/10 (C+) | The matches were okay not spectacular but they were serviceable. The SmackDown roster needs to have a massive reset they lack major stars and they need the WWE Draft to come.

Next Week WWE Friday Night SmackDown | May 9th Episode | The Announced Matches & Segments:

  1. Jacob Fatu & Solo Sikoa vs. Damian Priest & LA Knight in a Tag Team Match.

  2. Nia Jax vs. Jade Cargill in a WWE Women’s Championship Number One Contenders Match.
