My Thoughts on the June 4th Episode of Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest:
My Thoughts: The first two hours of Fyter Fest were delighting television. I thought the Six-Man Tag and Main Event Match were a hoot; those were the matches I was excited for. Will Ospreay issued a challenge to Swerve Strickland, which is set for next week, and we saw more tension between Toni Storm and Mercedes Moné. This was a very solid episode of Dynamite.
The June 4th | Episode of Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest | Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Jon Moxley (with Marnia Shafir & Wheeler Yuta) vs. Mark Briscoe in a Singles Match | Match Rating: **.75 | This match was okay. I thought it was going to be a full-on brawl and blood everywhere, but it was a very solid opener match for the Dynamite. I liked how the storytelling element was in the match. Mark Briscoe was mad that he tapped out and gave up, and in this match, he didn't.
2nd Match: Mina Shriakawa & Toni Storm (with Luther) vs. Julia Hart & Skye Blue in a Tag Team Match | via Pin-Fall | Match Rating: *** | Toni Storm is a star. The crowd went crazy when she came out. I thought this match was okay, but I didn't think the feud between Toni Storm and Mercedes Moné elevated. She was ringside eating a steak while watching the match, and Julia Hart and Skye Blue did an okay job, but they suffered the loss against Toni Storm and Mini Shriakawa.
3rd Match: Jet Speed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey) & Komander vs. La Faccion Ingobernable (Dralistico, Rush & The Beast Mortos) in a Six-Man Tag Team Match | Match Rating: **** | This right here was a hell of a match. Jet Speed might be my favorite tag team in AEW, and they just started. This match was filled with a lot of fun action. La Faccion Ingobernable, I have to say I'm glad they're on TV a lot more often now, but wish they started to rack up wins. But Mike Baliey and Kevin Knight were my highlight from this match, same with Dralistico, he was tearing it up in the ring. But a very good Six-Man Tag Team Match, which had some chaos afterwards as Jet Speed and Komander took out the Hurt Syndicate.
4th Match: Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Max Caster | Match Rating: N/A | This was a quick squash match as Powerhouse Hobbs made quick work of The Greatest Ever of All-Time in Max Caster. Powerhouse Hobb won in forty-seven seconds, and he wasn’t even in gear, just some sweatpants. But it’s always cool to see Powerhouse Hobbs kick some ass.
The Main Event Match: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Brody King vs. Claudio Castagnoli vs. Mascara Dorada in a Fatal-Four Way Title Match for the AEW International Championship | Match Rating: ****.50 | An awesome main event, this was such a fun match. Kenny Omega, anytime he's on, you know you have to watch because he can't miss television. Thetre was a lot f cool spots in this match Claudio on the outside whooping ass and Brody King being such a beats, Mascara Dorada was flying everywhere and the crowd was loving it. Kenny Omehga retained his AEW International Championship, and then the moment happened, Kazuchika Okada came out and went face-to-face with his greatest rival as the crowd was on their feet, and they brawled. The match was set for ALL IN Texas as a winner-takes-all, so I'm assuming they will unify the AEW Continental Title, and it will be defunct after ALL IN Texas, which is smart. But I don't know who's winning that match, it's going to be an amazing match, I know that.
