Thoughts on the January 8th Edition of Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite Show:
Thoughts: A very fun all - around episode of AEW Dynamite. Every match on the card rocked in my opinion. Will Ospreay opened the show with a fun match with Buddy Matthews. We saw Bobby Lashley continue to rise his stock in AEW as he beat Mark Briscoe in a very solid match. Powerhouse Hobbs is next in line for the AEW World Championship as he faces Jon Moxley next week on a Special Episode of AEW Dynamite. Kris Statlander wins an important Casino Gauntlet #1 Spot Three Way Match. Kenny Omega returns and reignite his feud with Don Callis but it's great to see The Cleaner back in AEW I missed him dearly.
The January 8th, Edition of Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Will Ospreay vs. Buddy Matthews in a Singles Match - Match Rating: ****.25 - This is a solid match to kick things off on Dynamite. Will Ospreay gets the win a very fun match. Buddy Matthews was presented very well in this match he looked very solid and I really thought that him as a solo act this year would rock as we're hearing rumors that Malakai Black is leaving AEW for WWE in the near future.
2nd Match: Bobby Lashley vs. Mark Briscoe in a Singles Match - Match Rating: ***.25 - I never thought that I would see the day where Bobby Lashley and Mark Briscoe have a singles match but it happened. This was a fine match Bobby Lashley has been unbeatable since his arrival to AEW so this match just added more of a stock boost for him. I'm really glad how they are booking Bobby Lashley as this big threat.
3rd Match: AEW World Championship Number One Contender Casino Gauntlet Match - Match Rating: ***.75 - I was very happy on who won this match because this is a great moment for Powerhouse Hobbs. I really am excited to see him battle for the AEW World Championship. My favorite moment in this match was when Ricochet tricked everything into thinking that Swerve Strickland was coming out but instead he came out and added that Jadakiss Laugh in the beginning. But overall a fine match happy that Powerhouse Hobbs won I thought he deserves this moment over everyone else in this match. I really hope his booking is great in the year of 2025.
The Main Event Match: Kris Statlander vs. Toni Storm vs. Willow Nightingale in a Casino Gauntlet #1 Three Way Match - Match Rating: ***.25 - I thought Kris Statlander winning caught me by surprise because Toni Storm having this new Character Arc where she thinks she's a newbie in AEW and her winning would've been cool because she could have played it off as some big upset in her mind because remember she thinks she's new to AEW. But Willow Nightingale had a great showing same with Kris Statlander as well. I thought having the Women Main Event was the right choice please more Women Main Event in 2025 to really make this division feel important. You have a stacked roster please utilize and make them feel like they matter.

The January 8th, Edition of Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite Show Grade: 7.75/10 (B) - I thought this was an all - around solid episode of AEW Dynamite. I enjoyed the opener it’s always a joy watching Will Ospreay. Kenny Omega makes his return and reignited his rivalry with The Don Callis Family. But overall solid episode.
