My Thoughts on the May 7th Episode of Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite:

My Thoughts: AEW Dynamite has been one of the more consistent shows for weekly shows in AEW. Dynamite had a couple of matches that were solid, but some didn't hit the mark. I'm enjoying the multi-man matches they put together weekly because they are filled with a lot of fun. I thought the women's Fatal-Four Way was very solid. Rhino made his AEW Debut, the ECW Legend lost to Nick Wayne in a ROH World Television Title Match. The Six-Man Tag Team Match was the best match of the night. The Young Bucks looked so locked in since their return. Swerve Strickland suffered the pin-fall loss, which furthers his feud with The Young Bucks. Kazuchika Okada and Kevin Knight had a very fun match, and Okada looked very solid in this match. It's nice to see he tried in this match. The Main Event had a cry fest as Samoa Joe put away Claudio Castagnoli to focus on next week's match against Jon Moxley, as he'll be in a Steel Cage for the AEW World Title. This episode was solid, and the road to Double or Nothing has been very pleasant, to say the least.

The May 7th | Episode of Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite | Match Ratings:

The Opening Match: Toni Storm [c] vs. Anna Jay vs. Penelope Ford vs. Thunder Rosa in a AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Four-Way Match | Match Rating: ***.25 | This was a solid way to open up Dynamite. The only issue I have is these Eliminator Matches. These matches make no sense. I wish it could've just been a title match. These types of matches make no sense and add no value. But Toni Storm came away with the win in this Fatal-Four Way Match. I'm enjoying Toni Storm's reign as champion.

2nd Match: Nick Wayne (with Christian Cage, Kip Sabian & Mother Wayne) (c) vs. Rhino in a Singles Title Match for the ROH World Television Championship | Match Rating: N/A | Nick Wayne was challenged by the ECW Legend in Rhino. This was a quick match, but I would like Rhino to reappear in AEW in the future.

3rd Match: Ricochet & The Young Bucks (Matthew Johnson & Nicholas Jackson) vs. Mark Briscoe, Mike Bailey & Swerve Strickland) (with Prince Nana) in a Six-Man Tag Team Match | Match Rating: ****.25 | A quick, fast-paced match that was filled with great moments and exciting spots. The Young Bucks have been amazing, they look like they are locked in since their return. They pinned Swerve Strickland to get the win in the Six-Man Tag Team Match. But I enjoyed these matches every week, it's insane the multi-man tag team matches AEW produces.

4th Match: Kazuchika Okada [c] vs. Kevin Knight in an AEW Continental Championship Eliminator Match | Match Rating: ***.25 | Kevin Knight has been great since arriving from NJPW to join All Elite Wrestling. Kazuchika Okada looked solid in this match. We know Okada doesn't try unless it's a big-time match, and this was a solid performance by him. Kevin Knight has been made to look strong and protected in every match, which I liked because he's a young talent who has a lot of upside, and you throw him into the deep end, and he has been swimming.

The Main Event Match: Samoa Joe vs. Claudio Castagnoli in a Singles Match | Match Rating: *** | The Main Event was okay. Samoa Joe looked very good in this bout. As he's a week away from his Steel Cage Match against the AEW World Champion in Jon Moxley, at AEW Dynamite: Beach Break. Claudio Castagnoli has been having a down year. He has regressed in the rung, and it shows, and that also comes with a lot of stuff his body has taken in recent years, with the amount of matches he has done, which has done a lot to his body. But in this match, he was very average. Samoa Joe has been one of my favorite baby faces in wrestling. He's just cool, and I do think he and Jon Moxley next week will have a hell of a Steel Cage Match.

The May 7th | Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite | Match of the Night: Ricochet & The Young Bucks (Matthew Johnson & Nicholas Jackson) vs. Mark Briscoe, Mike Bailey & Swerve Strickland) (with Prince Nana) in a Six-Man Tag Team Match | Match Rating: ****.25

The May 7th | Edition of Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite | Episode Grade: 7.50/10 (B) | This was a very solid episode of Dynamite. What sparks me about this episode is the quality of the in-ring matches. And I enjoyed the opening segment with Hangman Page and Will Ospreay.

Next Week Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite: Beach Break | May 14th Edition | The Announced Matches & Segments:

  1. Jon Moxley (c) vs. Samoa Joe in a Steel Cage Match for the AEW World Championship.

  2. Adam Page & Will Ospreay vs. The Don Callis Family (Josh Alexander & Konosuke Takeshita) in a Tag Team Match.
