Thoughts on the September 18th, Edition of Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite:
Thoughts: It was an okay episode. I thought the Chris Jericho match wasn't needed because someone else deserves his spot. Also, a twenty minute match involving Chris Jericho should be a crime. Hook gets a quick victory to prove a point at Roderick Strong which was cool only thing about Hook that he lacks a lot of is a good promo ability and really having a character. Mariah May bashes Yuka with a belt which caused her team to get a No DQ. Jon Moxley breaks one of the member of Private Party hand with a hammer, this whole Jon Moxley story has been a huge letdown so far I haven't been entertained by it I thought in the beginning it was gonna be something fresh but he been talking in riddles, and not really going into depth with things. Ricochet got his third singles victory in AEW against The Beast Mortos which was a great match by the way. Adam Page & Jeff Jarrett go at it and Jeff Jarrett made it his goal to kick Adam Page ass. The main event match was a fun trios bout which had The Don Callis Family getting the win. Overall average episode with a solid main event.
The September 18th, Edition of Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Orange Cassidy (Kyle O’Reilly & Mark Briscoe) vs. Chris Jericho (with Big Bill & Bryan Keith) - Match Rating: **.50 - Chris Jericho getting twenty minute matches in 2024 is absurd because there could be someone else who's way more talented and more needed of that type of spot instead of Chris Jericho. The match itself was nothing special whatsoever. Orange Cassidy prevails and gets the win which is cool but the thing I've an issue with AEW is the lack of young talent getting these big spots. Chris Jericho I hope disappears off of TV because without him on TV will make the shows 100 times better, please Tony Khan stop booking Chris Jericho.
2nd Match: Hook vs. JD Ink - Match Rating: N/A - This was a squash match. Roderick Strong was at the announcer desk calling the match. Hook is putting his belt on the line next week against Roderick Strong so this victory was to build more heat for him for next week match at AEW: Grand Slam in New York.
3rd Match: Queen Aminata & Yuka Sakazaki vs. Mariah May & Serena Deeb - Match Rating: N/A - A solid fight which led to Mariah May blasting the belt. Mariah May heelish ways have been a sight to see as she been excelling in that role. Yuka I'm assuming will be the next person to challenge Mariah May for the AEW Women's Championship in the near future.
4th Match: Ricochet vs. The Beast Mortos - Match Rating: ****.25 - This was Ricochet best match to date in AEW. The chemistry between these two were evident. I love the selling Ricochet was displaying, and with Beast Mortos high - flying ability which is a thing of beauty was very entertaining to watch. It's great to see Ricochet being allowed to showcase himself 100% and not be restricted.
The Main Event Match: The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher) & Will Ospreay vs. The Elite (Matthew Jackson, Kazuchika Okada, and Nicholas Jackson) in a Trios Match - Match Rating: ****.50 - A very exciting, fun main event. I didn't expect this match to be the show's match of the night but here we are. Konosuke Takeshita better get strapped up and have a monster push I'm tired of seeing him have pointless matches, that lead him to no direction for his future. There was a lot of great athleticism in this match well which is always fun to see in these type of matches. But at the end The Don Callis Family gets the victory and add more momentum to their side and helps Kyle Fletcher & Will Ospreay get more confidence for their match against The Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at AEW: Grand Slam in New York.
The September 18th, Edition of WWE Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite Match of the Night: The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher) & Will Ospreay vs. The Elite (Matthew Jackson, Kazuchika Okada, and Nicholas Jackson) in a Trios Match - Match Rating: ****.50
September 18th, Edition of Wednesday Night AEW Dynamite Show Grade: 5.75/10 (C-) - An okay episode highlighted by two great matches. The Jon Moxley stuff is okay, but I did enjoy Hangman Segment later on the show.
