My Thoughts on the WWE Premium Live Event — WWE Crown Jewel:
My Thoughts: This was a WWE Event where we didn't have cinema moments, random uncalled interference, and no Jelly Roll or Logan Paul, and guess what? WWE put together one of their best PLEs of the 2025 Year Calendar. You don't need to have chaos, just have good matches and great storytelling in the ring. In the opener, we saw Roman Reigns get taken down by Bronson Reed in an Australian Street Fight. Stephanie Vaquer did her thing and broke Tiffany Stratton's undefeated streak to become the WWE Women's Crown Jewel Champion. John Cena and AJ Styles had a clash for the ages, paying tributes to many of their classic rivals, and had a beautiful final match with each other. IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley tagged together to take on the villainous Kabuki Warriors in an electric Tag Team Match. The Main Event we saw was the 4th Edition of the Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins Story, and this match was a hoot as Seth Rollins, using the watch that Cody Rhodes gave cracked it across the head of Cody Rhodes to win the WWE Crown Jewel Title, and finally getting a win over Cody Rhodes. This was a very fun event, and I'm glad WWE just gave us a proper PLE instead of a cinema, interference-filled show.
WWE Premium Live Event | WWE Crown Jewel — The Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Bronson Reed (with Paul Heyman) vs. Roman Reigns in an Australian Street Fight | The Match Rating: ***.75 — I rate this match because Roman Reigns looked very solid, and he actually tried again in a match. You know how Roman Reigns is when it comes to some matches; he wouldn't give it his all, but in this match, it was a lot different, as her looked like he was having a lot of fun in this match. Bronson Reed got his moment in his home country of Australia. In the past year, alone has defeated Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins. He has been elevated from a mid-card to a main-event level individual. It's so fun that the same man who defeated Kazuchika Okada has now been one of the top stars in WWE. You have to capitalize on that and not let his hand start to freeze. The chaos in this match was fun, Roman Reigns throwing a rugby ball and using a Cricket Paddle to hit Bronson Reed. But Bron Breakker made his mandated appearance and started to get at Roman Reigns, but before anything could further more The Usos came out to make the save, but actually cost Roman Reigns after Jey Uso accidentally speared Roman Reigns through a table to help Bronson Reed get his special moment in his home country. Afterwards, Roman Reigns had some words for the Usos and told them that he doesn't want to see them until Christmas. But this was a solid opener, and I think this helps Bronson Reed a lot, and I'm super happy for him as he deserved this moment.
The 2nd Match: Stephanie Vaquer vs. Tiffany Stratton in a WWE Women’s Crown Jewel Title Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — A quick sprint of a match, but this match was highly entertaining to say the least. Tiffany Stratton came into this match undefeated all in the 2025 Calander Year which is something I didn't realize until months back so I thought this would contouine as I thought Tiffany Stratton would defeat Stephanie Vaquer and win the WWE Women's Crown Jewel Title but that didn't happen as Stephanie Vaquer got the win, and ended Tiffany Stratton undefeated streak, and now in a year won four titles in the WWE NXT Women's Title, WWE NXT Women's North American Title, WWE Women's World Title, and the WWE WOmen's Crown Jewel Title. She has been a force to reckon with, and I'm so glad they have booked her the way she has to be booked because she has had an all-timer year for quote on quote "Rookie" in WWE. Now, Tiffany Stratton shifts back to a new challenger on SmackDown. However, this was an entertaining match, and I actually enjoyed the fact that she faced someone other than Jade Cargill or Nia Jax, the same rotation of people she's been facing all year.
The 3rd Match: John Cena vs. AJ Styles in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***** — This match was the definition of damn, my childhood is about to end. I remember in 2008 being introduced to John Cena, and in 2013 being introduced to AJ Styles in TNA when they were on Spike TV. This was a beautiful match filled with tributes by both men to their previous rivals, and one of John Cena's greatest rivals being in the same ring as him was great. AJ Styles coming out in his 2000s TNA and ROH Attire was great. I loved the introduction both men got, and the match itself was amazing. These men are about to retire this year, and next year, and it makes me sad I won't be watching these men go toe to toe with some of the best in the business anymore. One of my favorite moments of this match was the Bray Wyatt Tribute in which John Cena hit a Sister Abigail, and looked up in the heavens as everyone got the fireflies out, paying tribute to the Late Great Windham Rotunda. The ending of the match was great, and it's crazy how John Cena and AJ Styles never had a bad match against each other. Their Money in the Bank (2016), SummerSlam (2016), Royal Rumble (2017), and SmackDown TV Match were amazing, and now the Crown Jewel (2025) is added to that list. End of an Era is coming, but I'm glad these men tore the house down, two legends who deserve the world in the world of professional wrestling.
The 4th Match: IYO SKY & Rhea Ripley vs. The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley teaming up must be some kind of punishment because two of the best in the business are on the same team to take on the Kabuki Warriors. A great match is coming, and we have to see it. Rhea Ripley was in her home country, and the crowd popped loudly for her. They were on their feet when she came out, and IYO SKY was getting a lot of love. The Kabuki Warriors have been one of the most interesting parts of WWE today, with Asuka being one of the best heels lately, tormenting Kairi Sane and punishing IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley. The match itself was fun, packed with action and exciting moments, and we saw the chemistry of IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley really shine as they worked together. Kabuki Warriors did suffer a loss, but I think they should have won to add more heat to their team. However, I understand--Rhea Ripley is in her home country and needs the win. Still, I hope the Kabuki Warriors get their revenge soon. This was a really fun match before the Main Event, and I hope IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley continue teaming up after the Kabuki Warriors feud for a little longer. Effectively.
The Main Event Match: Seth Rollins vs. Cody Rhodes in a WWE Crown Jewel Title Match | The Match Rating: ****.50 — This match was great, it had great storytelling between the two with their long history, and it's Seth Rollins' goal to beat Cody Rhodes, as it has been eating away at him for a while. Great in-ring action, Seth Rollins unleashed himself because this was one of his best performances in recent times, and he was pulling out all the stops to beat Cody Rhodes. He pulled a coast-to-coast headbutt, which I believe injured his arm, but he did it for the love of the game. Cody Rhodes hit an Avalanche Cross Rhodes in which Seth Rollins kicked out. The Cross Rhodes might be one of the weakest finishers if someone kicks out of an Avalanche Cross Rhodes. The closing moments were great. Seth Rollins used the watch Cody Rhodes gave him because of the help from WrestleMania 40 and bashed across the head of Cody Rhodes in which helped Seth Rollins win and get the WWE Crown Jewel Title. This is where I get in my creative juices. This still process, Seth Rollins can't beat Cody Rhodes clean, he had to cheat to win, so did he really do what he said he was going to do? Seth Rollins knew during the match he couldn't do it clean, so he chose to cheat, and in the end, he went on a rant about his he's the greatest. This is where I'm at, but I believe a 5th Match should happen eventually. But now we shift towards WarGames, and I wonder what happens next in the story between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.
WWE Premium Live Event | WWE Crown Jewel — The Match of the Night: John Cena vs. AJ Styles in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***** — This episode of SmackDown was enjoyable and chaotic, with Cody Rhodes opening the show and a fun WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Match. Sol Ruca and Zaria deserve a main roster call-up for their energy. Ilja Dragunov made a shocking return, defeating Sami Zayn to become the new U.S. Champion in one of the year’s best TV matches. Motor City Machine Guns marked their WWE anniversary with a win, and Jacob Fatu was bloodied before his main event. The show closed with Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre ending in a DQ, keeping their feud alive. The creative shuffle seems to be working well so far.
WWE Premium Live Event | WWE Crown Jewel — The Event Grade: 9.25/10 (A) — This was a WWE event without cinema moments, random interference, or celebrities like Jelly Roll and Logan Paul—and it was one of the best PLEs of WWE’s 2025 calendar. Great matches and in-ring storytelling took center stage. Roman Reigns was taken down by Bronson Reed in an Australian Street Fight. Stephanie Vaquer ended Tiffany Stratton’s undefeated streak to become WWE Women’s Crown Jewel Champion. John Cena and AJ Styles delivered a classic, referencing their past rivals. IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley teamed up against the Kabuki Warriors in a high-energy tag match. The main event featured the fourth chapter of Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins, with Rollins using Cody’s gifted watch to win the Crown Jewel Title. Overall, it was a fun, straightforward event showcasing great wrestling without the usual chaos.
