Thoughts on the August 2nd Edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown:

Thoughts: The Opening Segment with Cody Rhodes & The Bloodline, and the Opening Match with Andrade, and Carmelo Hayes was a great way of starting off Friday Night SmackDown. Now we know the Summerslam main event will be a Bloodline Rules Match which I’m expecting plenty of returns. Carmelo Hayes, and Andadre again tear the house down in a 15+ Minute match the fans were in - tuned, and enjoying it this is what I need to see more of on SmackDown. The Logan Paul segment was cool it was cool to see LA Knight take the prime car and go for a joy - ride. The Women’s Tag Team Championship Match I enjoyed until it sadly ended in a DQ due to Blair Davenport attacking Jade Cargill, I’m not gonna lie I do like that Blair Davenport is aligned with The Unholy Union this makes them a threat and gives them something I really hope this trio works and helps each women out and finally establish them as big players on the main roster because Alba Frye, and Isla Dawn been floundering before their title win so with this stable I hope it helps them stay on top even once they drop the belts eventually. Also, I do expect Naomi to get involve as she has her own problems with Blair Davenport. New champions as well with The Bloodline, Tama Tonga & Jacob Fatu being the new WWE Tag Team Champions. But the rest of the show was okay but this was a better episode of SmackDown and a solid go - home show for Summerslam.

The Show’s Match Ratings:

The Opening Match: Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes - Match Rating: ****.50 - What. A. Damn. Match. This surpassed their first match I’m very happy they went 15+ Minutes that’s what I wanted. The back & forth was great, the pacing of this match was well, and I love how they learn from their mistakes of their previous match and had new moves to display to offset each other. Carmelo Hayes I thought was about to win once he reversed Andrade finisher but Andrade got the roll - up victory and now is 2 - 0 over Carmelo Hayes. Please make this a best out of seven series their matches are amazing, fun, and have the crowds having a good time seeing them tear it down. Amazing Match this is what I want to see more often on SmackDown.

2nd Match: Santos Escobar (with Legado Del Fantasma) vs. Apollo Crews (with Baron Corbin) - Match Rating: *.75 - Very upsetting because if given time this would’ve been a very solid bout. I don’t see this feud being over just yet because LDF cost Apollo Crews with a distraction from the outside after attacking his tag partner Baron Corbin so I’m expecting some form of tag team match to end the feud.

3rd Match: The Unholy Union (c) vs. Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships - Match Rating: - ***.50 - I thought this match was very fun, I loved how Jade Cargill had a lot of time in the match I thought she did fine. The Unholy Union looked pretty good, and Bianca Belair had a great hot tag and had some fun sequences. Blair Davenport came and attacked Jade Cargill which caused a DQ but the stable of Alba Frye, Isla Dawn, and Blair Davenport I can get behind.

The Main Event: The Bloodline (Tama Tonga & Jacob Fatu) (with The Bloodline) vs. #DIY (c) for the WWE Tag Team Championships - Match Rating: **.50 - Very lackluster, this was a Bloodline dominant performance. Sucks for #DIY but I’m hoping they regain it in the future. Overall poor main event.

The Shows Match of the Night: Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes - Match Rating: ****.50

August 2nd Edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown Show Rating: 7/10 (B-) - This was a way better SmackDown. Probably the best SmackDown since the Madison Square Garden Edition. I thought the Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes Match was amazing, this is what they need to show weekly great matches because they are capable of doing so. SmackDown really can be a solid show if they show more wrestling instead of nonsensical segments. The Women’s Tag Team Match was a fun one. And the Main Event we saw new Tag Team Champions be crowned. Overall solid go - home episode of SmackDown before tomorrow’s SummerSlam.
