Thoughts on the February 28th Edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown Episode:

Thoughts: The best SmackDown of 2025 so far! After reviewing reports, the team rewrote the show, and they did a fantastic job because this episode was delivered big time. All the qualifying matches for the WWE United States Championship were solid, and the match between Carmelo Hayes and Braun Strowman ended in an Eddie Guerrero style with a great fake-out. The Men's Elimination Chamber competitors came out, except for John Cena, and this segment was one of the main highlights of the show. Roxanne Perez pinned Bayley clean to help her team secure the win. LA Knight won in the Final Round of the Tournament, earning an opportunity for the WWE United States Championship. Cody Rhodes was confronted again by The Rock, who was given various gifts throughout the night. Tshe Rock wanted one thing: for Cody Rhodes to give his soul to him as the show closed out. I found this entire episode enjoyable. This be on SmackDown weekly, not comedy or garbage writing. Good matches with solid segments throughout the show.

The February 28th | Edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown | Match Ratings:

The Opening Match: Tiffany Stratton (with Trish Stratus) vs. Chelsea Green (with Piper Niven) in a Singles Match | Match Rating: N/A | It was an okay match up to the point where Nia Jax and Candice LeRae came out and made the match end in a DQ. Tiffany Stratton had some solid moments in the match with the dive to the outside. Also, I thought Chelsea Green had a good promo before the match in her home crowd, which led to this match. She needs to be focused on more as she's the women's mid-card champion.

2nd Match: Jacob Fatu vs. Andrade in a Singles Match in the First Round of the WWE United States Championship Tournament | Match Rating: ****.25 | See what happens when you showcase Andrade you'll always have an entertaining match. Not even two minutes in Andrade had the crowd chanting "This is Awesome" I hope he gets a push for the WWE United States Championship. I thought Jacob Fatu was fantastic in this match this was his best singles match to date in WWE I won't mind if they ran this back and gave it more time. But this was the  match of the night, and the right person got the win. But they need to start a huge push for Andrade because it's ridiculous not showcasing him every week on Friday Nights.

3rd Match: LA Knight vs. Santos Escobar in a Singles Match in the First Round of the WWE United States Championship Tournament | Match Rating: **.75 | This was an okay match. The action in this match was very average. I think what caught my eye in this match was the catching B.F.T. to end the match which was pretty sick. LA Knight winning was the obvious choice. Very unfortunate that Santos Escobar is like a job guy for people on SmackDown.

4th Match: Carmelo Hayes vs. Braun Strowman in a Singles Match | Match Rating N/A | This match was highlighted with Solo Sikoa, and Tama Tonga trying to take out Braun Strowman which didn’t work. Carmelo Hayes did a tribute to the late great Eddie Guerrero and faked getting hit with a chair to get the DQ victory over Braun Strowman to advance to the Triple Threat Match in the Main Event.

5th Match: The Judgement Day (Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez) & Roxanne Perez vs. Bayley, Bianca Belair, & Naomi in a Six-Women Tag Team Match | Match Rating: ***.25 | A very solid Six-Women Tag Team Match. The action in the match was okay. I think what everyone took away from this match was the fact Roxanne Perez pinned Bayley clean to get the victory for her team, which was eye-popping as Roxanne Perez has had a very good start to her 2025 with the Royal Rumble performance, qualifying for the Elimination Chamber match and pinned Bayley clean in the center of the ring.

The Main Event Match: LA Knight vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. Jacob Fatu in a Triple Threat Match in the Final Round of the WWE United States Championship Number One Contenders Tournament | Match Rating: ***.75 | This was a very good triple-threat main-event match. I liked how the action was in this match. Jacob Fatu looked like a monster in this match there were many moments I thought he would win and be next in line for the WWE United States Championship. Carmelo Hayes had a very good showing in the match I thought when he hit his leg drop finisher off the top on LA Knight he had the match won and finally got his opportunity for the WWE United States Championship but a crazy Jacob Fatu from the top-rope dive and broke the pin-fall up. LA Knight got the victory after dragging Jacob Fatu out of the ring to secure the win and now will have the opportunity to face Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE United States Championship.

The February 28th | WWE Friday Night SmackDown | Match of the Night: Jacob Fatu vs. Andrade in a Singles Match in the First Round of the WWE United States Championship Tournament | Match Rating: ****.25

The February 28th | Edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown | Show Grade: 7.50/10 (B) | This was a much better episode of SmackDown. This show had everything and this is the way it should be booked no corny comedy, no horrid promos, and matches that don’t always end in roll-ups. Overall great show of SmackDown.

Next Week WWE Friday Night SmackDown | March 7th Edition | Announced Matches & Segments:

  1. Chelsea Green vs. Michin in a Non-Title Street Fight Match.
