My Official Thoughts on the June 5th Episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown:
My Official Thoughts: This was a decent episode. Anything passable is rare for SmackDown because you have to understand this show in 2025-2026 has been one of the worst shows in WWE, and in wrestling, but the Tournament Matches for the King & Queen of the Ring Tournament have been fun, and the other matches on the show besides the Talla Tonga Match were decent.
My Official Match Ratings for the June 5th WWE Friday Night SmackDown Episode:
The Opening Match: Raquel Rodriguez vs. Bayley vs. Jacy Jayne vs. Kiana James (with Giulia) in a Queen of the Ring First-Round Fatal Four-Way Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — This was a solid opening match in a first-round match for the Queen of the Ring Tournament. I had Bayley or Jacy Jayne getting the win for this match, as I wanted her to face IYO SKY in the Semi-Finals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament. But in the end, we saw Raquel Rodriguez get the win. I didn't expect that because why can't we have Bayley or Jacy Jayne go up against IYO SKY? After the match, Giulia finally turned babyface as she finally broke away from Kiana James. Now WWE Creative doesn't mess up Giulia Babyface’s run on SmackDown.
The 2nd Match: Talla Tonga (with Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga) vs. Royce Keys in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: * —Can we end this push for Talla Tonga? We see Ilja Dragunov reported being viewed as an interchangeable mid-card, but Talla Tonga, who, if I may add, is very much not good in-ring, can't talk, doesn't have any sense of good attributes to himself besides being super-tall. I saw him in NJPW. He wasn't good then, and isn't good now. Royce Keys is stuck in the Bloodline Vortex. It sucks because Royce Keys started great, but having him lose, I don't care if he was protected. It just doesn't make sense to have him lose to someone whom no one views as a main event caliber wrestler.
The 3rd Match: Jade Cargill & Michin (with B-Fab) vs. Charlotte Flair & Tiffany Stratton in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: **.75 — This wasn't too bad. Jade Cargill & Michin tagged together as they took on Charlotte Flair & the WWE Women's United States Champion, Tiffany Stratton, as they tried to take down Jade Cargill and Michin. I'm kinda liking where this is going if this ends with Charlotte Flair taking on Jade Cargill at SummerSlam, which would be a perfect place to have that singles match. I'm also glad Jade Cargill & Michin got the win, made most sense having them win. But this was a very solid tag team match.
The 4th Match: Ricky Saints vs. Carmelo Hayes in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ***.75 — Another good match between these two. Carmelo Hayes & Ricky Saints have been having a really fun rivalry on SmackDown as both men want to get close to the WWE United States Title, which Trick Williams holds. The in-ring action was good for the most part, now we are at 1-1-1 in this rivalry. I don’t mind them having many matches because each time they have been very fun and have had the crowd very much engaged. The ending Ricky Saints did a dirty tactic to get the win, but this feud is far from over. Hopefully, this ends in some Triple Threat Match for the WWE United States Title at WWE Night of Champions.
The 5th Match: Lash Legend (with Nia Jax) vs. Chelsea Green in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: N/A — Lash Legend took on Chelsea Green in this match. Now, Lash Legend, I wish WWE could break her away from Nia Jax. I’m tired of WWE not pushing her fully. I feel like she should be the next WWE Women’s United States Champion. I want to see her on her own because she can do really well on her own. But Chelsea Green losing is the smart choice. Glad Lash Legend got the win in the end.
The Main Event Match: Dominik Mysterio (with Liv Morgan) vs. Bron Breakker vs. Damian Priest vs. Trick Williams in a King of the Ring First-Round Fatal Four-Way Match | The Match Rating: ***.25 — This was okay, the Main Event Match, as we had our 2nd First-Round Match for the King of the Ring Tournament. All men involved were champions of some sort. Bron Breakker was my pick, like c'mon, the prospect of him taking on Oba Femi in a Semi-Finals Match is awesome, but it's WWE, they don't take risks like that. Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio in the same ring brought me back to their 2024 Feud. Trick Williams was in this match, then got taken out after Bron Breakker did a crazy spot to take both men out of contention. The Judgement Day helped Dominik Mysterio as they got the better of Damian Priest. Now we've Dominik Mysterio vs. Oba Femi in the Semi-Finals of the King of the Ring Tournament.
My Official Match of the Night for the June 5th Episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown: Ricky Saints vs. Carmelo Hayes in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ***.75 — Another good match between Carmelo Hayes & Ricky Saints, who have had a fun rivalry on SmackDown over the WWE United States Title held by Trick Williams. The in-ring action was mostly good, now at 1-1-1 in their series. I welcome their multiple matches because each is entertaining and engages the crowd. Ricky Saints used a dirty tactic to win, but the feud isn't over. Hopefully, it ends with a Triple Threat Match for the WWE United States Title at WWE Night of Champions.
My June 5th Official Episode Grade for WWE Friday Night SmackDown: 6.25/10 (C+) — Very decent episode. These tournament matches are going to bring the quality of the shows up. But this was a very solid and decent episode of SmackDown.
