My Thoughts on the August 22nd Episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown:
My Thoughts: The 2025 Edition of Friday Night SmackDown is very much garbage. You expect them to put on high-quality matches, but they didn't, just no star-power on this show in terms of the in-ring. I don't have much to say because I didn't enjoy this episode of SmackDown. All I have to say is that until Road Dogg is gone from Co-Lead Writing the shows, and if Triple H can demote him or take him out, this show is going to be quite awful for a long time. A roster full of riches, and they decide to rehash old rivalries no one cares about and repeat the same matches with no substance. SmackDown is awful and is reaching 2019 SmackDown territory, and I didn't think it would get to that point in the Triple H Era. Garbage episode all around with no life and enjoyment.
The August 22nd Episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown — The Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Melo Don’t Miz (Carmelo Hayes & The Miz) vs. The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: **.75 — This was a very okay opener. Motor City Machine Guns, I really hope you move to Monday Night RAW. That would be one of the best moves in the pending WWE Draft, as they need a change of brands. But this match, surprisingly, The Miz was super over with the Dublin, Ireland, fans. Carmelo Hayes, in this match, was flying around, and Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin were having some good moments in this match. But he Miz did his antics as he tagged himself in and took the shine away from Carmelo Hayes as The Miz claimed to be the reason for the win, and Carmelo Hayes is slowly growing disdain against The Miz. Next week, Melo Don't Miz takes on The Street Profits in a Number One Contendership Match for the WWE Tag Team Titles.
The 2nd Match: Piper Niven (with Alba Fyre & Chelsea Green) vs. Charlotte Flair in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: **.50 — Piper Niven and Charlotte Flair were in a very standard WWE TV Match. The crowd was alive for this match as they were throughout the night in Dublin, Ireland. But I do like the fact Piper Niven got the win and now the Secret Hervice have a future title shot for next week when they are in Lyon, France.
The 3rd Match: The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) (with B-Fab) vs. MFT (JC Mateo & Tonga Loa) (with Solo Sikoa & Talla Tonga) in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: *** — This was a fun tag team match. I knew that having Jeff Cobb, a great tag team specialist, would be beneficial, and Tonga Loa was, I suppose, solid. The Street Profits get another much-needed win as they are back on track, thanks to Jimmy Uso and Sami Zayn, as they neutralized Talla Tonga and Solo Sikoa to prevent them not interfering and disrupting the match. The Street Profits. They are now going to be facing Melo. Don't Miz in a Number One Contender Match, as the winner will face the Wyatt Sicks for the WWE Tag Team Titles in the near future.
The Main Event Match: Jade Cargill & Tiffany Stratton vs. Becky Lynch & Nia Jax in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: N/A — This was a quick main event. This match wasn't needed for the show if it was going to be six minutes long. It makes no sense ds build this as the Main Event of the show, but it was boring and very stale. But that's the story of 2025 SmackDown, just an all-around abysmal, lifeless show. I have nothing else to say because this is like a rinse and repeat. We have the same woman after Tiffany Stratton's title, and I think Road Dogg forgets that the WWE Women's Roster is arguably the best women's roster in the world, filled with riches of talent.
The August 22nd WWE Friday Night SmackDown — The Match of the Night: The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) (with B-Fab) vs. MFT (JC Mateo & Tonga Loa) (with Solo Sikoa & Talla Tonga) in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***
The August 22nd Episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown — The Episode Grade: 4.75/10 (D+) — The 2025 Friday Night SmackDown was very disappointing. It lacked high-quality matches and star power. I didn’t enjoy this episode. Unless Road Dogg is removed from co-lead writing, and Triple H can demote or replace him, the show will remain poor. Despite a talented roster, they rehash old rivalries and repeats with no substance. SmackDown is declining to 2019 levels, which is surprising for the Triple H Era. Overall, a dull, unenjoyable episode.
