My Official Thoughts on the June 26th Episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown:
My Official Thoughts: Very awful episode. SmackDown isn't watchable. Now I know they may have some rare episodes, but it'll appear to be good. But in general, these shows just add nothing. It's an empty feeling when watching SmackDown weekly, you think they'll progress, and get better, and now that it'll be 2-Hours again until January of 2027, I hope the two-hour format can help this show because I don't know what WWE even writes for these shows. After all, it comes off if they are lazy and have nothing to offer.
My Official Match Ratings for the June 26th WWE Friday Night SmackDown Episode:
The Opening Match: B-Fab & Michin (with Jade Cargill) vs. Alexa Bliss & Tiffany Stratton in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: *.25 — This match lacked a lot of things. This match added nothing to further the Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill stuff, because we know Tiffany Stratton is retaining at Night of Champions. I was shocked to see B-Fab pinning Tiffany Stratton. I didn't expect that. This is a very not good tag team match, and I do like everyone in this match, but man... this wasn't good whatsoever. Because I didn't even care when Chelsea Green came out.
The 2nd Match: Rey Fenix (c) vs. Nathan Frazer in a AAA World Cruiserweight Title Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — This is what happens when you allow Rey Fenix to hoop, because when you do, these are the match outcomes you receive. This was such a great match; Nathan Frazer and Rey Fenix really went out there and showed why they are among the best wrestlers in WWE today. Rey Fenix and Nathan Frazer had some great offense against each other, awesome sequences, and I looked for the near-falls in this match. At one point, the crowd was chanting for Rey Fenix. But the ending of this match was great, as both men got a standing ovation from the London Crowd. WWE sees it's so simple, have good wrestling, people will react.
The 3rd Match: Paige (with Brie Bella) vs. Jacy Jayne (with Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid) in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: DUD — WWE, what are we doing here? Fatal Influence came into the Main Roster riding a hot-hand now they have fallen off, and now they lost to Brie Bella and Paige. Why's Jacy Jayne losing? She should be someone who should be winning at every chance she gets. Paige is not the wrestler we knew back in 2014-2017. I just don't get WWE’s whole process when it comes to this insane booking, because why is she losing? What does this gain for her? The momentum for Fatal Influence has been halted because of this inconsistency in booking. But it's what it is. We've seen how WWE books with the young talent like Je'Von Evans lost to Jey Uso, now Jacy Jayne lost to Paige for no reason.
The 4th Match: Danhausen & Matt Cardona vs. Los Garza (Angel & Berto) in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: N/A — I have no interest in Danhausen fighting, I do think his segments do be a fun part of the show, but this tag team of Danhausen & Matt Cardona give me the vibe that Zack Ryder persona will return, and Los Garza is coming off a great segment on AAA now they lose? Like, what’s up with this booking for them in WWE, in AAA, they feel important, even in NXT, HBK had them feeling really important.
The 5th Match: Jade Cargill vs. Chelsea Green in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: N/A — This match wasn’t all that. I do think Jade Cargill is improving a lot as a wrestler, but obviously, I knew Jade Cargill would come out on top with how she’s fighting Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s United States Title at Night of Champions.
The Main Event Match: Giulia vs. Kiana James in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: *** — Nothing groundbreaking, but very happy that Giulia Main Event SmackDown for this match. I knew she was going to win; it only makes sense as she's now a babyface. Kiana James was decent in this match. She'll be fine alone. I think she will be someone who can thrive on the SmackDown Women's Mid-Card, but this match was fine, afterwards Blake Monroe made her official debut, attacking Giulia, and now we have that feud on the horizon.
My Official Match of the Night for the June 26th Episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown: Rey Fenix (c) vs. Nathan Frazer in a AAA World Cruiserweight Title Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — This is what happens when you let Rey Fenix go all out: you get matches like this. It was an excellent bout, with Nathan Frazer and Rey Fenix both showing why they’re among the best wrestlers in WWE today. They exchanged great offense, delivered awesome sequences, and had me invested in every near-fall. At one point, the crowd was even chanting for Rey Fenix. The ending was especially strong, with both men receiving a standing ovation from the London crowd. WWE proves it’s simple: give people great wrestling, and they’ll react.
My June 26th Official Episode Grade for WWE Friday Night SmackDown: 3.25/10 (D-) — SmackDown isn’t watchable right now. Sure, it may have the occasional good episode, but overall, it feels empty and like it adds nothing. I keep hoping the show will improve, and with it going back to two hours until January 2027, maybe that helps. But honestly, WWE’s writing for SmackDown feels lazy and uninspired.
