The February 27th Episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown — The Episode Rundown:
RHIYO will have a sorta rematch with the Irresistible Forces for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. After what transpired during Giulia and Rhea Ripley’s match on SmackDown last week, the title match came together. Now, weeks back, they had a solid title match which ended in a No Contest, but tonight we’ll hope to have a clear finish, and possibly we could see a brand new tag team champion if Lash Legend and Nia Jax can take down IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley for their WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.
Carmelo Hayes is opening up his WWE United States Title Open Challenge tonight. Who'll step up to the plate to accept his open challenge to try to become potentially the next WWE United States Champion? Or will Carmelo Hayes have another successful title defense?
All of the men involved in the Men's Elimination Chamber Match for tomorrow's match will all meet inside the ring. Cody Rhodes, Je'Von Evans, Jey Uso, LA Knight, Randy Orton, and Trick Williams will be on SmackDown tonight. We'll hear everyone's final parting words tonight.
Candice LeRae will have her first singles match of 2026 as she takes on Jordynne Grace. This match came together in a backstage segment last week as we saw Johnny Gargano lying on top of a crate having a sorrowful feeling, but an interaction between Candice LeRae and Jordynne Grace prompted this match for tonight. Candice LeRae is one of the most underrated women’s wrestlers in WWE. Let’s see if she makes people remember how great she is when she takes on Jordynne Grace tonight.
A rule was implemented in this match that no members from The MFTs and The Wyatt Sicks will insert themselves into this match for tonight. With no one at ringside, the leaders of their respective groups come together in a singles match tonight as Solo Sikoa, who obtains the Lantern that the Wyatt Sicks have been fighting to get back, has caused Uncle Howdy to have his first singles match since August of 2024 as they go head-to-head tonight.
In a funny backstage segment last week, Oba Femi ran into The Miz, in which The Miz started to praise Oba Femi, asking him to be under his wing, which would promise Oba Femi he would be successful. Oba Femi didn’t care and even went one step ahead to say he’ll go to General Manager Nick Aldis to discuss that, which later on announced that Oba Femi and The Miz will be fighting. So tonight, the 2x WWE World Champion will be going up against the hottest prospect in WWE in Oba Femi.
