My Official Review of the October 23rd Episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown:
My Official Review: This episode was average because it lacked strong wrestling. The Street Fight was excellent, establishing Blake Monroe and helping Giulia rebuild after an uneventful first year on the main roster. However, the rest of the show was disappointing. Why is IYO SKY being treated like a background character? Gunther feuding with Danhausen is also bizarre, especially since Danhausen supposedly retired AJ Styles, Goldberg, and John Cena. Until WWE Creative moves on from its outdated ideas, SmackDown will remain mediocre, especially after regressing from two strong months while RAW continues to be enjoyable.
My Official Match Ratings for the October 23rd WWE Friday Night SmackDown Episode:
The Opening Match: Chelsea Green (c) vs. Roxanne Perez in a WWE Women’s Title Match | My Match Rating: **.50 — Chelsea Green was carried in this match by Roxanne Perez, in my opinion. Roxanne Perez was awesome in this match, and if I were the writer, she would've won the WWE Women's Title. This match had some compelling moments, but in the end I didn't think it was all that because Chelsea Green isn't that great in the ring, in my opinion. Now we did see The Judgement Day's Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez try to help out, which didn't work, as IYO SKY, who's feuding with the WWE Women's Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez, came to equal the score, as did the Women's Money in the Bank Winner Tiffany Stratton, who almost cashed in on the WWE Women's World Champion Liv Morgan. But Chelsea Green got the win and retained her WWE Women's Title in the end.
The 2nd Match: Blake Monroe vs. Giulia in a Street Fight | My Match Rating: ****.25 — I really enjoyed this match; Blake Monroe and Giulia were rockstars in this match. This was a good way to end this feud, and I think, in my view, this feud helped both women out, as I hope this can reignite the push for Giulia and for Blake Monroe hope this leads her to bigger feuds down the line. I love how they wrestled around the arena; the spot with the chairs was very sick. They were doing a lot of extreme stuff in this match. I thought Giulia looked great; same with Blake Monroe in the ring. I think Blake Monroe winning was the right choice, but I believe this feud helped both women out a very fun feud, as this was one of the few positives from the sho happy that these women went out there and delivered a fun, nasty, and extreme Street Fight.
The 3rd Match: Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley (c) vs. B-Fab & Michin (with Jade Cargill) in a WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles Match | My Match Rating: *.75 — Very shocking that Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley reign was a transitional regin I genunley thought this was going to be a match where rthey've a first title defend going successful but we have new WWE Women's Tag Team Champions as B-Fab and Michin have won their 1st pieces of WWE Gold in the Company which I'm very happy for them as they are now the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. But I really hope Triple H puts some effort into it instead of hot-potatoes the titles; we need some actual good stories for these belts and good matches, which hasn't been the trend for the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles in the past couple of months.
The 4th Match: Rey Fenix & Trick Williams vs. Johnny Gargano & Sami Zayn (with Candice LeRae) in a Tag Team Match | My Match Rating: N/A — This match lasted only 30 seconds, as Ricky Saints attacked Rey Fenix, leading to a DQ. Then everyone started to attack Trick Williams, but Penta came and made the save for his brother Rey Fenix and the WWE United States Champion Trick Williams, as this match was turned into a Six-Man Tag Team Match for the Main Event of SmackDown.
The Main Event Match: The Lucha Bros (Penta & Rey Fenix) & Trick Williams vs. Johnny Gargano, Ricky Saints & Sami Zayn (with Candice LeRae) in a Six-Man Tag Team Match | My Match Rating: *** — Even though this was a seven-minute main event, this was a pretty decent sprint of a Six-Man Tag Team Match. I think, under the WWE umbrella, this was the first time I believe the Lucha Bros tagged with each other. I know they've done it on AAA, but on Main WWE TV this was the 1st time they did so. Trick Williams has been thriving by himself, feeling like a serious character without Lil Yachty. But seeing the team of Johnny Gargano, Ricky Saints & the Undisputed Champion Sami Zayn together was cool itself. Trick Williams got the win as he stared down Sami Zayn who he'll be facing Trick Williams next week as he defends his Undisputed WWE Title. Big spot for Trick Williams, as this would mark his 1st Official Shot at the WWE World Title. But solid Main Event, wish it was longer but can't complain because we saw The Lucha Bros dishing things out, Ricky Saints in the Main Event, and Trick Williams shining throughout the show.
My Official Match of the Night for the October 23rd Episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown: Blake Monroe vs. Giulia in a Street Fight | My Match Rating: ****.25 — I really enjoyed this match; Blake Monroe and Giulia were rockstars. It was a great way to end their feud, which benefited both women. I hope it reignites Giulia’s push and leads Blake to bigger feuds. I loved how they wrestled around the arena, especially the sick chair spot. The extreme action made it a fun, nasty Street Fight. Giulia and Blake both looked great, and Blake winning was the right choice. This was one of the show’s few positives, and I’m glad they delivered.
My Official Highlight of the Show for the October 23rd Episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown: Trick Williams is a Superstar — This episode really highlighted Trick Williams, the WWE United States Champion. What makes me happy he been serious in his promos without Lil Yachty we knew Trick Williams can deliver we saw it in NXT and when he arrived on the Main Roster. He now has an Undisputed WWE Title Match against Sami Zayn on the WWE Danhausen Very Nice Very Evil SmackDown next week, as he will try to become a Double Champion, but he got the pin for the win in the Main Event; he was really highlighted, and I loved that for him because it’s going to help him be more established as the next Main Event Superstar in WWE.
My October 23rd Official Episode Grade for WWE Friday Night SmackDown: 5/10 (C) — This episode was very average and why I say that is because the lack of great wrestling. The Street Fight was excellent; I thought it established Blake Monroe and helped Giulia rebuild herself back up after an uneventful first year on the Main Roster. But the entirety of the show stunk. Why is IYO SKY a background character? Gunther is feuding with Danhausen, the same man who retired three HOFers: AJ Styles, Goldberg & John Cena. I just think WWE Creative, until the old people leave, these shows are going to be very mediocre to average for SmackDown because RAW has been fun, but SmackDown has regressed after a solid two months.
