Thoughts on the Show / July 19th Edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown Show Recap:
Thoughts: SmackDown is a funny show because they have a roster that can deliver great shows weekly but for a while now there hasn’t been an eye - popping episode. I felt like this episode was very boring, and flat that’s all I can really say.
Recap: Nothing much too recap we saw LA Knight get an victory against Santos Escobar then get attacked by Logan Paul. The Bloodline prevail and became the number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship, and in the Main Event Tiffany Stratton pinned the WWE Women’s Champion in a Tag Team Bout.
The Show’s Match Ratings:
Opening Match: LA Knight vs. Santos Escobar (with Elektra Lopez) – Match Rating: - **.50 - This match felt flat, the crowd was kinda into it. But as expected LA Knight gets the victory to add momentum for his bout against Logan Paul for the WWE United States Championship at SummerSlam. After the match Logan Paul attacks LA Knight with the help of Santos Escobar.
2nd Match: The Bloodline (Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa) vs. Apollo Crews & Baron Corbin vs. Legado Del Fantasma vs. Pretty Deadly vs. The O.C. vs. The Street Profits in a WWE Tag Team Championship #1 Contendership Six Pack Challenge Match - Match Rating: **** - Only match that was really solid. I love the pairing of Apollo Crews, and Baron Corbin their chemistry was off the hook they got a elimination taking out LDF. They had a good fight against The Street Profits until they got eliminated. The Street Profits had a great showing beating three teams. The Bloodline came and defeated The Street Profits to get the #1 Contender’s Spot to face #DIY next week for the WWE Tag Team Championships. I thought this was fine nothing too special but overall solid tag gauntlet match.
The Main Event: Nia Jax & Tiffany Stratton vs. Bayley & Mia Yim – Match Rating: - ***.25 - This match was average but I was happy to see Mia Yim getting a main event spot. The match was slow in the beginning started to pick up but then halted then started again but again halted. I thought Tiffany Stratton getting the win on Bayley was fine to add more drama for the story.
Match of the Night: The Bloodline (Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa) vs. Apollo Crews & Baron Corbin vs. Legado Del Fantasma vs. Pretty Deadly vs. The O.C. vs. The Street Profits in a WWE Tag Team Championship #1 Contendership Six Pack Challenge Match - Match Rating: ****
July 26th Edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown Show Rating: 3.25/10 (D) - This show just was boring from start to finish the only thing that was solid was the Tag Team Gaunlet Matches, but outside of that the whole show just felt flat, dry, boring, and no substance. That has been the case with SmackDown for a while now sadly, they have been putting up lackluster / boring shows that people don’t enjoy. I hope once they move from FOX to the USA Network the show quality gets better. Like Monday Night RAW is a great show probably the best weekly shows in wrestling right now then there’s SmackDown a liveless show that’s hanging by a thread. Hopefully with the pending return of “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns the show quality improves and the matches get betters and more marquee matchups.
