My Thoughts on the June 27th Episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown:
My Thoughts: An average episode of SmackDown before Night of Champions, with some issues, such as camera cutouts in the first segment. Only one-third of the title matches were decent. CM Punk dressed as 2004 John Cena for their final face-to-face before their Night of Champions title match. Not much else to say. Overall, SmackDown was quite poor, and it will likely stay this way until the WWE Draft following SummerSlam.
The June 27th | Episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown | Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: JC Mateo (with Solo Sikoa) vs. Jimmy Uso in a Singles Match | Match Rating: *.50 | The presentation of Jeff Cobb is so bland, you would think he would be a killer monster like he was in New Japan, but nope, he has been booked, so he is just a wingman to Solo Sikoa. This match was awful, like their previous one. I wish they could give Jeff Cobb actual people he can go well in the ring with, but this match didn't do anything. Afterwards, Jimmy Uso slapped Solo Sikoa and got jumped, but was saved by Jacob Fatu, and kinda confirmed the alliance between them two. But this wasn't good, I just wish Jeff Cobb could be used properly because he can be so great for the Mid-Card Scene of SmackDown, which lacks a lot.
2nd Match: Zelina Vega (c) vs. Giulia in a Singles Title Match for the WWE Women’s United States Championship | Match Rating: **.50 | All this match did was establish Giulia and make her the new WWE Women's United States Champion, which I'm truly happy about. Now this title can be established by someone who can put on great matches. The match itself wasn't good the chemistry between these two wasn;t there but I expected that but did this match get the job done yes because now we have giulia as the new WWE WOmen's United States Champion and I',m excited to see who'll be her first feud as champion or they going to keep the Zelina Vega stuff going.
3rd Match: Andrade & Rey Fenix vs. #DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) in a Tag Team Match | Match Rating: ****.50 | Man what a damn match I love the pairing of Andrade and Rey Fenix I hope this isn't some temporary team they are inserted into the much well-booked WWE SmackDown Tag Team Divison. This match gave me PWG and AEW vibes as the in-ring material was spectacular. It was a great needed match because before this match, the show was stalling and wasn't delivering at all. The crowd was very much into it. I loved the near-falls and chaos on the outside, loved the Tag Team Finisher of Andrade and Rey Fenix, just an all-around fun tag team match. This match is in my running for one of the best WWE TV Matches of this year because this was fun.
4th Match: The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) (c) vs. The Wyatt Sicks (Dexter Lumis & Joe Gacy) (with Erick Roawn, Nikki Cross & Uncle Howdy) in a Tag Team Title Match for the WWE Tag Team Championships | Match Rating: N/A | This match was so pointless because I even knew a No Contest or No DQ finish was going to happen. The Wyatt Sicks booking since their return hasn't been well for me. How they were presented last year was very well done, but since being put on SmackDown, they just lost a lot of their spark. All the SmackDown Tag Teams came out and took down the Wyatt Sicks, but the Street Profits stood tall at the end, which I wasn't expecting, but man, this was such a pointless match because they could have added another fun competitive match.
The Main Event Match: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Nia Jax in a WWE Women’s Championship Last Women Standing Match | Match Rating: *** | Thank goodness the feud between these two is over, because my goodness, it dragged on for the first six months of this year. This match was mediocre at best. There were some good spots, but this match wasn't all that. As expected, Tiffany Stratton was retained, which was the smartest decision because if Nia JAx won, I would be so disappointed. Now we can move on from this awful feud, and hopefully something fresh comes for both women, as they need it badly because they've been feuding for all six months of this year.
The June 27th | WWE Friday Night SmackDown | Match of the Night: Andrade & Rey Fenix vs. #DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) in a Tag Team Match | Match Rating: ****.50
The June 27th | Edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown | Episode Grade: 5.25/10 (C-) | A very average episode of SmackDown, before Night of Champions, we had some issues as the cameras cut out for the first segment of the show. 1/3 Title Matches on the show were passable. CM Punk dressed up as 2004 John Cena for their final face-to-face for their Title Match at Night of Champions. DOn’t have many words to say. SmackDown is a very abysmal show. This will be the same until the WWE Draft happens after SummerSlam.
