Thoughts on the July 29th Edition of Monday Night RAW:

Thoughts: I thought this episode of Monday Night RAW go – home show for Summerslam was a letdown. I thought them having a lot of in – ring time that we would get some solid matches but out of the seven matches on the episode only one really was decent which was the main event. I really want them to use the talented wrestlers on the RAW roster like instead of having a Karrion Kross or Carlito match let’s have a showcase match for Dragon Lee to get him going and start to have Ilja Dragunov run hot – shot on the whole Monday Night RAW and start to gain momentum and rack of wins. Monday Night RAW was a great show and was consistent for weeks. But the past couple weeks, in – ring wise the matches haven’t been like how they were from the beginning of the year when we had 2 – 3 banger of matches per week. Let’s look on the Brightside of things from this episode, the opening segment was very solid. Damian Priest continues to make fans get behind him as champion, and the return of a babyface Damage CTRL which I’m super excited about. Overall, just a let – down of an episode.

The Shows Match Rating:

The Opening Match: The Creed Brothers (with Chad Gable) vs. Alpha Academy (with Maxxine Dupri) – Match Rating: **.25 – This match was a huge let – down I really wish this match hit because it had a good ceiling for it to deliver. It felt flat at certain moments. Otis had a hot tag moment, and the crowd erupted for him. But overall, the match didn’t hit but I’m glad The Creed Brothers are back in the win column and starting to build with the new stable they’re in with Chad Gable as their leader.

2nd Match: Bronson Reed vs. Sheamus – Match Rating: ***.25 – I enjoyed the ending of the match where Pete Dunne emerged and cost Sheamus the match which builds more fire to their ongoing feud. Bronson Reed gets a much-needed victory to get back on track. But this match was decent at best.

3rd Match: Jey Uso vs. Carlito – Match Rating: *.75 – This match wasn’t good it was slow, felt flat, and just didn’t do anything. Carlito wrestling in 2024 shouldn’t be happening only time he should be used are in tag matches so they can hide how washed he is now. This isn’t 2004 – 2010 he isn’t that fast exciting wrestler he used to be he’s a comedy act now. And for Jey Uso past couple months, he been on a downward swing hasn’t had any important feuds. I think they are waiting for Jimmy Uso to return then he’ll insert himself in the ongoing The Bloodline story.

4th Match: Karrion Kross (with The Final Testament) vs. Xavier Woods – Match Rating: *.25 – Karrion Kross before the match displayed his great promo skills which everyone knew. Karrion Kross has the look, presentation, and promo ability but once that bell rings it doesn’t even matter. This match wasn’t good whatsoever it felt like a squash match. Karrion Kross wins again continue to build his stock and continues to drive the feud he has with The New Day. Please end this feud.

5th Match: Sami Zayn vs. Dominik Mysterio – Match Rating: **.50 – I was looking forward to this match because I thought this could be a sleeper of the show that a lot of people would enjoy but it didn’t sadly. Outside of The Judgement Day attacking and Jey Uso coming for Sami Zayn aid, but the match wasn’t that good.

6th Match: Shayna Baszler, Sonya Deville, and Zoey Stark vs. Katana Chance, Kayden Carter, and Lyra Valkryia in a 6 – Women Tag Team Match – Match Rating: *** - I fairly enjoyed watching this. I like seeing Lyra Valkryia wrestle she’s so fun to watch. There was some good back – and forth in this match. But Sonya Deville team won, and then afterwards we saw the return of Damage CTRL.

The Main Event: Gunther vs. Finn Bálor – Match Rating: ***.75 – This was my favorite match of the night, back and forth chops, some fun wrestling which all ended with Gunther making Finn Bálor pass out. This match was solid and did the job. Damian Priest came out afterwards and fought Gunther to further the feud before the match at Summerslam.

The Shows Match of the Night: Gunther vs. Finn Bálor – Match Rating: ***.75

July 29th Edition of WWE Monday Night RAW Show Grade: 6.25/10 (C+) – This episode was a huge let – down I expected more but it just didn’t deliver.
