My Official Thoughts on the May 25th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW:
My Official Thoughts: This was probably the best Episode of Monday Night RAW since that Episode in March where Penta & Dragon Lee tore the house down. What's funny is that AEW delivers a classic show like they always do. Triple H locks in gives us a great episode, then half-asses everything after, but this episode is just an example of how WWE can be an enjoyable product, but when you have incompetence in the Creative Department, you won't get what you want. Now, am I happy that the King & Queen of the Ring Tournament Matches start next week, yes, but make them simple singles matches. The whole Fatal-Four Way stuff is just lazy and uninspiring. Give us some first-time matches like Je'Von Evans vs. Montez Ford, Bron Breakker vs. Dragon Lee, Ivy Nile vs. Sol Ruca & Lyra Valkyria vs. Stephanie Vaquer. Give us some good material that can be great for June. I love the involvement of Montez Ford throughout the night. He felt like a Main Event Player, and I liked how this episode was so simple, four good matches with a good opening segment and a closing segment. It's so simple and easy to give good shows, but you have to stop being complacent and lazy.
The May 25th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — My Official Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Penta (c) vs. Je’Von Evans in a WWE Intercontinental Title Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — A very fun WWE Intercontinental Title Match. This has been the best WWE Intercontinental Title reign since Gunther's reign in 2022-2024 because this reign by Penta feels like an actual good reign with great programs and stories. Je'Von Evans is getting his 2nd Title Match for the WWE Intercontinental Title, but this time it is a Singles Match, rather than a Ladder Match. The action in the ring was great. Je'Von Evans was doing his best Darby Allin impersonation as he took a landing onto the WWE RAW Announcer Table. But Je'Von Evans looked great in this match, and Penta was countering everything. There was awesomne in-ring action mixed in with some awesome selling by Je'Von Evans. Je'Von Evans, being the rookie in this match, made a huge mistake, then Penta got the win and retained. But we see Character Development by Je'Von Evans as he was frustrated and walked away from Penta, after Penta tried to show some respect, then backstage, Je'Von Evans told Penta he'll get the WWE Intercontinental Title, really liking what's going down in the WWE Intercontinental Title Picture.
The 2nd Match: Bayley & Lyra Valkyria vs. The Judgement Day (Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez) (with Dominik Mysterio & Liv Morgan) in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***.25 — A very fun tag team match. I see that Judgement Day is having some issues because they have been losing so much as of late. JD McDonagh lost to Finn Balor, Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez lost to the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, and now Bayley & Lyra Valkyria. It's like something in the air for them. I do like the fact that there's some friction brewing within the stable. But something I want to note is that I hate how Liv Morgan is just a manager, and not defending or wrestling on TV. But I did enjoy Bayley & Lyra Valkyria, they are an awesome tag team, and very happy they won. I do see them as the next WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. It's just a matter of time before they win the titles, because once they do, the matches they'll have with those belts will be so much fun, and I believe they can have the best title reigns with those WWE Women's Tag Team Titles.
The 3rd Match: Seth Rollins vs. Montez Ford in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: **** — Finally, we got Montez Ford in a Singles Match against one of the best to ever do it, Seth Rollins. Now, watching this match, I was excited, and couldn't sit down to watch it. I remember in 2022 when they had a small feud, they had a fun singles match. Again, they had a fun singles match with great chemistry. Happy to see Seth Rollins is fighting weekly on RAW because that's what weekly shows should be: to have the major players wrestle against some of the fun talents. Montez Ford was awesome in this match. The dude is a Superstar and Main Event Level Player. I liked the storytelling of Seth Rollins telling Montez Ford it doesn't have to be this way, then proceeded to be slapped by Montez Ford, and then hit multiple Turnbuckle Powerbombs. The ending was great, as with the little air Seth Rollins had left, he hit the Curb Stomp to get the win, but then Angelo Dawkins took a vicious chair to the head by Austin Theory. We saw Montez Ford & Seth Rollins agree to an alliance as they are now after Austin Theory & Bron Breakker, which is going to be very exciting television.
The Main Event Match: Rey Mysterio vs. Rusev WWE Intercontinental Title No. 1 Match | The Match Rating: ***.25 — Rey Mysterio looked like 06' Rey Mysterio with the attire, as he took on Rusev with Ethan Page being at Commentary. But this was a lot of fun. I thought this was a very fun Main Event Match with Rey Mysterio taking on Rusev. If I recall, they never had a match against each other, unless I'm wrong, and they did when Rey Mysterio returned in 2018. But Rey Mysterio got this match because Ethan Page & Rusev were irate that he got a WWE Intercontinental Title Match, with him not doing anything to earn it, so this match happened. I do like the fact that they kept Rusev strong even in defeat, as he looked via a Roll-Up pin. After the match, a beat-down started to unfold, but Dragon Lee returned to WWE, saving Rey Mysterio as he's back, and presumably in the WWE Intercontinental Title Picture, now very fun stuff, and very happy that Dragon Lee is back on Monday Night RAW.
The May 25th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — My Official Match of the Night: Penta (c) vs. Je’Von Evans in a WWE Intercontinental Title Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — I really enjoyed this match. I loved the chemistry these two had. Also, I think showing new character developments in Je’Von Evan was a very smart move to show that the young star is frustrated and wants to win. So that was a great touch after the match, I do believe he’l;l win the WWE Intercontinental Title by SummerSlam.
The May 25th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — My Official Episode Grade: 8.25/10 (B+) — To put it in a short recap, a very strong episode that had four good matches, segments that did the job, and didn’t have slop ruin the episode. WWE can easily put together great material if they want, but the WWE Creative gets sloppy and complacent to the point that they depend on shock value to make them not do a lot of stuff to make fans satisfied. But this was a great episode, the best episode in a long time.
