My Official Thoughts on the July 20th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW:
My Official Thoughts: This episode was terrible. Why I say that is because there were zero women's matches, segments, or any progression for Lyra Valkyria, who came off a marvelous performance at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. We've got Bron Breakker as a background character. Oba Femi, I really want him to have a long match. The squashes are great, but man, HBK booked him better than what Triple H is doing at this current time. Danhausen is getting way too overexposed, and I won't be shocked if the fans eventually get tired and turn on him. The fact that he has a match at SummerSlam is ridiculous because the card was looking great, but that match leaves a stain on that SummerSlam Match Card. Joe Hendry gets the win thanks to Danhausen, and IYO SKY never thought I would write a sentence like that in my life. The main event saw Jacob Fatu get the win in a somewhat decent match. This episode was very awful; the creative team simply didn't care tonight. I feel for Bayley, IYO SKY, Lyra Valkyria, and Sol Ruca, who should've had some big minutes on this show tonight.
My Official Match Ratings for the July 20th WWE Monday Night RAW Episode:
The Opening Match: The Vision (Austin Theory & Bron Breakker) (with Logan Paul & Maxxine Dupri) vs. Dragon Lee & Je’Von Evans in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — The Best Match from this episode; they opened Monday Night RAW for the first time in seven months. A wrestling match opened the show, not a promo segment. But this was a lot of fun. Bron Breakker, Dragon Lee & Je'Von Evans were flying around, having themselves a very strong performance. But as we expected The Vision came away with the win but even after the match they weren't done, but the Alpha Academy came out to start a brawl as Akira Tozawa and Otis were fighting back at The Vision for what happened last week but again Akira Tozawa and Otis were put down in the dirt by Austin Theory & Bron Breakker as next week these two teams will fight in a non-title match but I expoect the WWE World Tag Team Titles to be defended at SummerSlam in Otis home-state of Minnesota.
The 2nd Match: Oba Femi vs. JD McDonagh in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: N/A — This was a squash match as JD McDonagh threw a bag full of money by accident, and it landed onto Oba Femi, which allowed this match to happen. Oba Femi made quick work and got the win. Now my issues are this: as we saw in NXT, Oba Femi is capable of a long match. Why is Triple H just doing squashes? Why can’t we have fun long matches for Oba Femi? But I’m super happy he won; he’s one of my favorite young talents, but I wish Triple H allowed him to really wrestle on the weekly shows.
The 3rd Match: Chad Gable & Penta vs. Ethan Page & Rusev in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: **.50 — A very average match felt like I had seen these combinations of matches before. I think WWE try the can they could coexist in this match, but Chad Gable and the WWE Intercontinental Champion Penta worked very well together, as they did, in fact, put away Ethan Page and Rusev as they came away with a strong victory. The Chad Gable and Penta stuff has been okay. I do expect Chad Gable to get the WWE Intercontinental Title off of Penta, but please do something more creative instead of having these two tag together; it just shows lazy writing.
The 4th Match: Joe Hendry vs. Dominik Mysterio (with Liv Morgan) in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: *.25 — Garbage, I didn't enjoy this one bit. I don't know, I'm fine with comedy acts, but when the person in the ring is Dominik Mysterio, the Face of AAA, the AAA Mega Champion, but he's relegated to being a comedy jobber at this point because I don't remember the last time he won anything, it kinda makes no sense. I don't enjoy comedy acts like that, maybe when I was younger, but the whole Danhausen and Joe Hendry stuff throughout the show was annoying. But this match did suck; the chemistry wasn't there, and also IYO SKY being involved with Danhausen is a sentence I never thought I would ever write a day in my life. But Joe Hendry got the win, and then on top of that WWE announced at SummerSlam Danhausen vs. Dominik Mysterio; now the AAA Mega Champion will suffer a loss at SummerSlam against a Comedy Act that's actually painful to see.
The Main Event Match: Jacob Fatu vs. LA Knight in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: **.75 — It wasn't like their WrestleMania 41 match, which I enjoyed a lot, but this was very average. I did like the outside attacks involving Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Royce Keys & Solo Sikoa; that was very entertaining to me, at least added more excitement for the Six-Man Tag Team Match that's set for WWE SummerSlam. LA Knight suffered the loss as Jacob Fatu secured the win thanks to Jey Uso, but afterwards The Bloodline stood tall as they took everyone out and ended the show on top.
My Official Match of the Night for the July 20th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW: The Vision (Austin Theory & Bron Breakker) (with Logan Paul & Maxxine Dupri) vs. Dragon Lee & Je’Von Evans in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — The best Match from this episode; they opened Monday Night RAW for the first time in seven months with a wrestling match, not a promo. Bron Breakker, Dragon Lee, & Je’Von Evans performed strongly. The Vision won, but after the match, Alpha Academy started a brawl. My July 20th Official Episode Grade for WWE Monday Night RAW: 1.25/10 (F) — I don’t care what others have to say when you have zero women’s matches or segments, or even give us something for Lyra Valkyria to continue her great heel run is insane. Also, it’s like the repeated cycle of matches, nothing creative. WWE is two weeks away from their 2nd Biggest Yearly PLE in SummerSlam; they wonder why they can’t sell tickets when they produce a terrible episode like this.
