My Thoughts on the March 2nd Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW:
My Thoughts: This was the best Monday Night RAW episode of 2026 so far. The show was packed with great segments and three very fun, engaging matches that kept my attention from start to finish. The pacing of the night felt smooth, with each segment building on the last and adding more excitement to the overall show. One of the biggest highlights was CM Punk’s promo. What he said to Roman Reigns absolutely left my jaw on the ground. The way he delivered his lines, the intensity in his voice, and the reaction from the crowd all made that moment feel huge, like a real turning point in their story. It felt personal, heated, and exactly the kind of promo you want to see on the road to WrestleMania. Overall, this was a very fun episode that reminded me of why I enjoy Monday Night RAW. The only downside was the complete lack of women’s wrestling on the show, which was disappointing and felt like a missed opportunity, especially given how talented the women’s roster is. Hopefully, WWE corrects that going forward and gives the women more time and focus. Despite that issue, I’m really excited for next week’s episode. If they can keep up this level of energy, storytelling, and match quality, then RAW is on the right track. This is exactly how you should start the official build to WrestleMania: strong promos, meaningful segments, and matches that actually feel like they matter.
The March 2nd Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — The Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Gunther vs. Dragon Lee in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ****.75 — This was an electric match. This was poetic to me because Dragon Lee has built his way up to the card. This is probably the best WWE Match at this moment in 2026, with AJ Styles and Gunther being 2nd. Gunther is in his league of his own. This was such a fun professional wrestling match with red-hot babyface moments by Dragon Lee, as the crowd is pushing for Dragon Lee to win, but this match was something I loved. The closing moments of this match were such a gritty, physical, and strong-hitting match, with Gunther making Dragon Lee submit. I need a rematch at WrestleMania. Gunther is in the Top 5 ranking for the best wrestlers in the world today.
The 2nd Match: Original El Grande Americano vs. Rayo Americano in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: **** — A very fun technical match, this was beyond my expectations because I didn't sense an actual professional wrestling match happening Chad Gable and Pete Dunne had a very fun match, filled with outside interferences, and the build contiunes between El Grande Americano and the Original El Grande Americano as it keeps shifting between AAA and WWE. At one point in the match, I thought Pete Dunne was going to get the win as El Grande Americano attacked, headbutting the Original El Grande Americano. But Chad Gable got the win, and I assume next week, Tyler Bate gets Chad Gable next, and I expect a super fun match between these two. I would prefer the blow-off between Chad Gable and Ludwig Kaiser El Grande Americano storyline in AAA at their biggest event.
The 3rd Match: Jimmy Uso vs. Austin Theory in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: N/A — This match wasn’t need they could’ve placed a women’s match like Ivy Nile vs. Lyra Valkyria, some fun high-octane action, but we were subjected to this. I knew this would end in some whonky way. As we saw a DQ finish with Logan Paul coming out and attacking Jimmy Uso, but as he was getting ambushed by Austin Theory and Logan Paul, the injured Jey Uso came out with the crutches as they attacked Austin Theory and Logan Paul with the crutches. Now I’m fearing that The Usos vs. The Vision is possibly a WrestleMania WWE World Tag Team Title Match? Because I really don’t want that. But this whole match, and the after segment was the only negative points of this show.
The Main Event Match: Dominik Mysterio (with Finn Bálor & JD McDonagh) (c) vs. Penta in a WWE Intercontinental Title Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — This was a fun match as we kinda started to figure out this was going to be Penta’s crowning moment. This match, and Dragon Lee vs. Gunther, should’ve been on the WWE Elimination Chamber Event Card, but I digress. But Dominik Mysterio had his 1st WWE Intercontinental Title defense since winning the title from John Cena at WWE Survivor Series. This title reign was very pointless, but this match was very solid in my opinion. I liked the closing moments where now a babyface Finn Bálor told JD McDonagh don’t help Dominik Mysterio as he needed to win by himself, which caused the chaotic ending as Penta hit the Mexican Destroyer to win his 1st singles gold in the WWE Intercontinental Title, as he had the biggest crowd reaction of the night. Amazing moment for Penta, very happy for him. I’m hoping he faces some young talent and becomes a workhorse champion.
The March 2nd Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — The Match of the Night: Gunther vs. Dragon Lee in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ****.75 — Easily the best WWE Match of 2026. This was filled with chaos, drama, grittiness, and a lot of physicality. Dragon Lee had the crowd behind him, as he had his best WWE Singles Match since his JD McDonagh Match back in NXT. But I need a rematch between these two. I would love this again at WrestleMania, as the story has been properly built, and it would elevate Dragon Lee even more. But I assume Rey Mysterio is the one who faces Gunther, but if not, please run this back with Dragon Lee.
The March 2nd Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — The Episode Grade: 8.25/10 (B+) — This was the best Monday Night RAW Episode of 2026. This was filled with great segments and three very fun matches. Also, CM Punk said what he said to Roman Reigns, which left my jaw on the ground. This was a very fun episode only downside is no women wrestling on the show, which was unfortunate. But next week, I hope this continues, as this is how you should start the official build to WrestleMania.
