My Official Thoughts on the June 22nd Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW:
My Official Thoughts: This episode didn't hit strong for me for a couple of reasons, one, because there were two duds of matches on the show, and I felt like there wasn't a very great importance for the King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring Tournament. But the few positives are the Chad Gable segment with Alpha Academy. What a wonderful segment, it felt real. Chad Gable wants this redemption arc, but also wants to undo the wrongs he tried to apologize to everyone, from Akira Tozawa, Maxxine Dupri, and Otis. I do think eventually Otis will give in because we know Maxxine Dupri is rumored to join The Vision in the near future, as this segment kinda soft-launched her heel turn with the attitude change, granted her feelings were very validated with what Chad Gable did to all three, but this was great stuff, and Chad Gable is straight money. I enjoyed Dragon Lee vs. Ethan Page, that little feud with Dragon Lee, Penta, and Rey Mysterio, with Ethan Page and Rusev, has been very enjoyable for me. Lyra Valkyria turning heel was well-done, and needed, as I felt she hit her ceiling as a baby face, and with this heel turn and run, it can unlock more of her character and have a mean streak. Very excited to see where that goes. Lastly, I really liked the Main Event as the Street Profits became 4x WWE Tag Team Champions.
My Official Match Ratings for the June 22nd WWE Monday Night RAW Episode:
The Opening Match: Brie Bella & Paige (c) vs. Bayley & Lyra Valkyria in a WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Match | The Match Rating: ** — The match itself, this was Brie Bella and Paige’s best title defense, even though it was very average to me. Bayley and Lyra Valkyria, over the past months, have been on the losing end of a lot of matches, and it has been evident that a change was needed for Lyra Valkyria, as her character has reached that stale portion of being a babyface for many years. So this heel turn that occured after they lost their shot at winning the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles, I think this can something very good if WWE really does a good job establishing this heel character, and her and Bayley gave great chemirsty to niote their Two Out of Three Falls Match last year is ana example so i'm excited to see how this feud goes, and hoping their match lands on SummerSlam.
The 2nd Match: Ethan Page vs. Dragon Lee in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ***.25 — Ethan Page and Dragon Lee had a very fun singles match, I thought. Ethan Page, who has been feuding with all the Luchadors on Monday Night RAW, Dragon Lee, Penta & Rey Mysterio, has been trying to torment all of them, trying to make his name on the Main Roster, as he has been getting help from Rusev. Dragon Lee, who hasn't wrestled a Singles Match since March of this Year. Had a very strong performance; he had the crowd behind him as he showed off his awesome aerial offense. But Dragon Lee had the upper hand, but because Ethan Page used his dirty tactics, we saw a low blow, which helped Ethan Page secure the victory. This whole feud is far from over.
The 3rd Match: LA Knight vs. Jimmy Uso in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: **.25 — A very unnecessary match, as we have seen this before, and why can't LA Knight just do something fresh instead of The Bloodline Vortex? Jimmy Uso wasn't all that in this match; he had a few good moments, like the Spulex onto Apron. LA Knight was about to do his signature run-up suplex off the top rope, but it was halted as Solo Sikoa appeared, as he at first seem to help Jimmy Uso, but he hit the Samoan Spike to help LA Knight in a turn of events to get the win for himself. Now I want LA Knight to do something notable, not this Bloodline stuff. Imagine if he can feud with someone like Penta for the WWE Intercontinental Title, or Ethan Page, someone new for him, but it's WWE Creative once again, always recycling old matches and feuds.
The Main Event Match: The Vision (Austin Theory & Bron Breakker) (with Logan Paul) (c) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) in a WWE World Tag Team Title Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — Finally, after a great two months for The Street Profits, especially from Montez Ford, as he evolved as a character and has been one of the key players for Monday Night RAW, now The Street Profits are 4x WWE Tag Team Champions. This match was very good; it went for twenty minutes. The action in the ring was high-energy, and Bron Breakker was flying everywhere he was like that: power-up from that Mario Kart DS Game where you bullet everywhere that was Bron Breakker. Austin Theory was okay, I'll say he was very decent, I can give him that. We saw Logan Paul try to give the brass knuckles, but before he could do so, Joe Hendry made his return, running off Logan Paul. Then to add more drama and chaos Seth Rollins came out distracting Bron Breakker as he didn't come through the entrance ramp came though the crowd, and hammered Austin Theory with the Brass-Knuckles as he ran off but Bron Breakker ran to get Seth Rollins leaving Austin Theory alone which allowed Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford to captlized as they're the new WWE World Tag Team Champions, and they deserve this. Super happy this was a great match, and a great ending.
My Official Match of the Night for the June 22nd Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW: The Vision (Austin Theory & Bron Breakker) (with Logan Paul) (c) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) in a WWE World Tag Team Title Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — Finally, after a great two months for The Street Profits, especially for Montez Ford, who evolved as a character and has been a key player for Monday Night RAW, they are now 4x WWE Tag Team Champions. The match was very good, lasting twenty minutes, with high-energy action. Bron Breakker was flying everywhere, like in Mario Kart DS, where you bullet around; Austin Theory was decent. Logan Paul tried to give brass knuckles, but Joe Hendry returned and ran him off. Seth Rollins then distracted Bron Breakker and attacked Austin Theory with brass knuckles, allowing Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford to become the new WWE World Tag Team Champions. They deserved this. It was a great match with a great ending.
My June 22nd Official Episode Grade for WWE Monday Night RAW: 5.25/10 (C) — This episode didn’t fully work for me because two matches were weak and the King and Queen of the Ring tournament didn’t feel important enough. The highlights were Chad Gable’s strong segment with Alpha Academy, Dragon Lee vs. Ethan Page, Lyra Valkyria’s heel turn, and the Street Profits winning the WWE Tag Team Titles for a fourth time.
