My Official Review of the September 14th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW in Mexico City:
My Official Review: This was a really strong episode of RAW, especially coming out of Mexico City. The show delivered several memorable moments, from El Grande Americano making his first appearance as AAA Mega Champion to Lola Vice qualifying for Money in the Bank and Je’Von Evans earning his spot in the Men’s Ladder Match. The Young OG continues to shine, while Lola Vice and Kelani Jordan showed why they could be major pieces of WWE’s women’s division for years to come. But the highlight of the night was undoubtedly Chad Gable vs. Dragon Lee. It was one of the best WWE TV matches of the year and easily one of the best matches of Dragon Lee’s career. Gable’s Intercontinental Championship reign is off to a legendary start, while Dragon Lee continues to establish himself as one of WWE’s biggest breakout stars. The Main Event delivered as well, with Roman Reigns and Penta putting on an amazing World Heavyweight Championship match. Penta proved he belongs in the world-title picture, while Roman continues to have some of his strongest in-ring work in years. LA Knight attacking Roman afterward and making their Money in the Bank championship match official was the perfect way to close the show. Overall, this was a very enjoyable RAW with plenty of momentum heading into Money in the Bank.
My Official Match Ratings for the September 14th WWE Monday Night RAW in Mexico City Episode:
The Opening Match: El Grande Americano & Stephanie Vaquer (with Rey Mysterio) vs. The Judgement Day (Dominik Mysterio & Liv Morgan) in a Mixed Tag Team Match | My Match Rating: N/A — I thought this was a very fun match with the hot Mexico City crowd behind it. El Grande Americano made his first appearance as AAA Mega Champion, while Stephanie Vaquer celebrated her WWE Women’s World Championship victory in Chile. The Judgment Day interrupted, leading to a Mixed Tag Team Match that I thought was given plenty of time and delivered in the ring. I really hope WWE continues keeping El Grande Americano on WWE TV instead of limiting him to AAA. The match ended in a DQ after the rest of The Judgment Day came out, with Dominik Mysterio torturing his father Rey and trying to rip off his neck brace, while JD McDonagh delivered a vicious headbutt to Americano. The Judgment Day stood tall, making it clear this feud is far from over as Dominik and Liv Morgan want their championships back.
The 2nd Match: Je’Von Evans vs. Austin Theory vs. Big Cass in a Men’s Money In The Bank Qualifying Triple Threat Match | My Match Rating: ***.25 — This was a very fun match for me. Je'Von Evans looked great in this match; he was pulling out every stop. He even hit a sick Slice Bread, which made me pop. Je'Von Evans was the best part of this match. I enjoy the fact that he does everything so smoothly; he's super over now, and Austin Theory even looked solid in this match with that sick moment with Big Cass on his shoulder. I loved the finish of this match: a Slice Bread, which lands on Austin Theory as Je'Von Evans is rushing to hit the OG Cutter on Big Cass, as he finally did so to get the win and become the 2nd Entry of the Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match, joining Bron Breakker. Big Cass taking the pin shocked me, but I guess Triple H gave up on him unless this makes him snap. But Je'Von Evans, the Young OG, is heading to Money in the Bank.
The 3rd Match: Chad Gable (c) vs. Dragon Lee in a WWE Intercontinental Title Match | My Match Rating: ***** — This was one of the best WWE Matches of this decade and of Dragon Lee's career in WWE. Chad Gable has already had two classic title defenses; he is one of the best wrestlers in the world. This match simply showed that if you give us this every week, people won't complain. Dragon Lee this year is one of the breakout stars of WWE. He became a very fun babyface who's super over with the crowd. This match could've been on a PPV because it was that amazing. This match is in my Top 3 TV Matches of this Year because, man, there were so many amazing moments, and I loved how Chad Gable kept locking in the Ankle Lock to make Dragon Lee tap. The Style Clash moment was insane, and the last two minutes of the match were some of the best in-ring work I've seen all year. Amazing Match, a Match of the Year candidate and TV Match of the Year candidate. Chad Gable is having a legendary start to his WWE Intercontinental Title Reign.
The 4th Match: Lola Vice vs. Kelani Jordan vs. Raquel Rodriguez in a Women’s Money In The Bank Qualifying Triple Threat Match | My Match Rating: ***.25 — We got to see two of the future pieces of the WWE Women’s Roster on display as Lola Vice and the WWE NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan had a great showing in this match as they were dueling, and Raquel Rodriguez couldn’t even keep up. But this was great, as Lola Vice had a successful debut as she qualified for the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match as she joins Sol Ruca in the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. I’m really excited for Lola Vice and Kelani Jordan's main roster run. I hope they get consistent booking and are positioned well; the Women’s Roster is going to be so deep and elite for the next decades.
The Main Event Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Penta in a WWE World Heavyweight Title Match | My Match Rating: ****.50 — Roman Reigns is at his best when he’s away from the Bloodline and his usual small circle, and this match was another example of that. His World Heavyweight Championship reign has featured some of his strongest in-ring work in years. Penta had a WrestleMania-level entrance, with the Mexico City crowd completely behind him throughout. He hit two Mexican Destroyers but couldn’t put Roman away, while Roman no-selling one and turning it into a Spear was absolutely wild. Penta proved he’s a future World Champion, and I hope he eventually gets that moment. Roman retained in an amazing match, but LA Knight attacked him afterward with a BFT. Roman had enough and made it official: at Money in the Bank, he’ll defend the World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight.
My Official Match of the Night for the September 14th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW in Mexico City: Chad Gable (c) vs. Dragon Lee in a WWE Intercontinental Title Match | My Match Rating: ***** — This was one of the best WWE matches of the decade and easily one of Dragon Lee’s best matches in WWE. Chad Gable has now delivered two classic Intercontinental Championship defenses and continues to prove he’s one of the best wrestlers in the world. Dragon Lee has also become one of WWE’s breakout stars this year, turning into a hugely popular babyface. This match could have easily been on a PLE. The Ankle Lock sequences, the insane Style Clash moment, and especially the final two minutes were incredible. This is easily one of my Top 3 TV Matches of the Year and a Match of the Year candidate. Chad Gable is having a legendary start to his Intercontinental Championship reign.
My Official Highlight of the Show for the September 14th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW: Dragon Lee & Penta — I have to say Dragon Lee is one of the best wrestlers in the world today. His performance against Chad Gable shows he is more than capable of winning the Intercontinental Title and United States Title, and even the World Title. He’s amazing, and his match against Chad Gable was the best match of his WWE Career. Penta had a WrestleMania Style Entrance which was so awesome. Penta was awesome against Roman Reigns. When Roman Reigns isn’t doing Bloodline Material and steps outside of it, he always has fun matches. I hope he contiunes once in a while to do these RAW Matches because this was awesome. But very happy for Dragon Lee and Penta. I hope they get something in the future because they are too damn good to ot have their own special moment.
My September 14th Official Episode Grade for WWE Monday Night RAW: 9.25/10 (A) — This was a very strong episode of RAW, with plenty of momentum heading into Money in the Bank. Je’Von Evans and Lola Vice qualified for their respective Ladder Matches, while El Grande Americano continued his WWE presence alongside Stephanie Vaquer. The biggest highlights were Chad Gable vs. Dragon Lee, which was one of the best TV matches of the year, and Roman Reigns vs. Penta, another excellent World Heavyweight Championship match. Overall, RAW delivered some great wrestling, exciting moments, and set up several important stories for Money in the Bank.
