My Official Review of the September 15th Episode of WWE NXT:
My Official Review: I found this episode of NXT to be very solid. It featured Grayson Waller’s first challenger for the WWE NXT Title, Mason Rook. Saquon Shugars is currently engaging in an entertaining feud with Tristan Angels. Myles Borne has officially turned heel and kayfabe fractured his former best friend Tavion Heights’ ankle. The Women’s Division is becoming more complete, highlighted by the appearance of La Catalina, the new AAA Reina de Reinas Champion, who will compete next week. The NXT Tag Team Division also showcased exciting action, especially with BirthRight causing chaos and many teams getting opportunities to shine. NXT does a great job of making every division feel important. Overall, it was a very good episode, and next week marks the return of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic after its hiatus since 2024. I’m excited to see which 14 teams from AAA, EVOLVE, NXT, RAW, and SmackDown will compete in this historic tournament.
My Official Match Ratings for the September 15th WWE NXT Episode:
The Opening Match: Kali Armstrong vs. Lizzy Rain in a Singles Match | My Match Rating: **.75 — This was an okay opener, as we saw Lizzy Rain and Kali Armstrong go at it in this match. I thought this match could’ve been a lot better, as I wish there were more moments where the intensity and tone of the match picked up. In the end, Kali Armstrong got the win, but the bigger story came after the match when EVOLVE’s Skylar Raye attacked Armstrong. Raye made her return to NXT with a message, and she clearly wants to make an impact right away.
The 2nd Match: DarkState (Cutler James & Osiris Griffin) vs. Dorian Van Dux & Sean Legacy in a Tag Team Match | My Match Rating: *** — This match was pretty decent. DarkState has cooled off, but now they have another piece for the awesome NXT Tag Team Division. The team of Dorian Van Dux & Sean Legacy has probably been my NXT Tag Team with The Creed Brothers, and they are my 2nd favorite team. But this match was very good for me. What I like is the importance of the WWE NXT Tag Team Titles for these teams. I was shocked that DarkState got the win, but this division is heating everyone is getting wins, and if I’m Swipe Right, the WWE NXT Tag Team Champions, I would be worried about the titles because a lot of teams are eyeing those WWE NXT Tag Team Titles.
The 3rd Match: The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes (with Jackson Drake & Myka Lockwood) vs. Cruz Montana & EK Prosper in a Tag Team Match | My Match Rating: ***.25 — This match was another good tag team match as the WWE NXT Tag Team Champions were going up against Cruz Montana and EK Prosper, as this match was made official today on Social Media. This was a very solid tag team match. The team of Cruz Montana and EK Prosper had some good Tag Team chemistry. I don’t know if this is a one-off or if they’ll continue, but we also saw in this match Jackson Drake and Myka Lockwood insert themselves into this match as the referee saw, but it didn’t matter as Vanity Project came away with the win, as they found a way. I don’t think this is over between Cruz Montana and Vanity Project; maybe we might see a little bit more of Cruz Montana and EK Prosper.
The Main Event Match: Mason Rook vs. Tony D’Angelo vs. Saquon Shugars in a WWE NXT Title No. 1 Contender Triple Threat Match | My Match Rating: **** — Mason Rook did it; he’s the first challenger for the WWE NXT Champion Grayson Waller. As we saw throughout the episode, he was running on a treadmill, which I found funny. This was my Match of the Night; I thought this match was pretty solid. We saw some new stuff beginning as Tristan Angels cost Saquon Shugarts, which took him out of the match, and now we have another new thing with Grayson Waller and Mason Rook, as the future WWE NXT Title Match is going to be very good. Now, for Tony D’Angelo, I think it’s time for him to be on the main roster.
My Official Match of the Night for the September 15th Episode of WWE NXT: Mason Rook vs. Tony D’Angelo vs. Saquon Shugars in a WWE NXT Title No. 1 Contender Triple Threat Match | My Match Rating: **** — Mason Rook became the first challenger for WWE NXT Champion Grayson Waller. His treadmill training was amusing, and this was my Match of the Night. Tristan Angels costing Saquon Shugarts added a new storyline, while the upcoming Waller-Rook title match should be excellent. As for Tony D’Angelo, I think it’s time for him to move to the main roster.
My Official Highlight of the Show for the September 15th Episode of WWE NXT: The Return of the WWE NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic — This was such a great moment, as AAA, EVOLVE, NXT, RAW & SmackDown will be involved, and there’ll be 14 Teams involved in this tournament. The NXT Tag Team Division is being brought back; it has been electric, as HBK has been doing a good job; the same can be said for The Undertaker with AAA. I hope this tournament can get the Main Roster going with the Tag Division, with this Tournament Starting next Tuesday.
My September 15th Official Episode Grade for WWE NXT: 7.25/10 (B-) — I thought this was a very solid episode of NXT. What I thought about this episode was that we have Grayson Waller’s first opponent for his WWE NXT Title in Mason Rook. Saquon Shugars is entertaining a feud with Tristan Angels. Myles Borne has officially turned heel and kayfabe fractured his ex-best friend Tavion Heights ankle. The Women’s Division is becoming much more complete, as we even saw the new AAA Reina de Reinas Champion La Catalina make a stop, and she’ll be wrestling next week on the show. There was a lot of good stuff even with the NXT Tag Team Division, with how BirthRight is causing havoc, and how we’re seeing so many teams getting chances to shine. NXT really makes every division feel important, and that’s such a good thing, but a very good episode in my eyes, and next week we’ll have the start of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic as it’s back for the first time since 2024. Very excited to see what 14 Teams from AAA, EVOLVE, NXT, RAW & SmackDown decide to enter this very awesome and historic tournament.
