My Thoughts on the March 16th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW:
My Thoughts: This indeed felt like a Road to WrestleMania episode of Monday Night RAW; we had a fiery crowd. Oba Femi made his presence known as he challenged Brock Lesnar to a match at WrestleMania. We had some solid matches on the show, and CM Punk and Roman Reigns had a flop, but I do think they could've done a better segment. I've been enjoying Monday Night RAW the past three weeks. I hope this keeps up, but this episode felt chaotic, and I hope they keep this up.
The March 16th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — My Official Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: El Grande Americano (with Bravo Americano & Rayo Americano) vs. Original El Grande Americano in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ***.25 — This was a pretty solid match between Chad Gable and Ludwig Kaiser. I assume this will be a Best Out of Three as the final match will be some Masks. Mask stipulation at WrestleMania or a Major AAA Event. But the action in the match was fine, and the pacing of the match was well done. The only thing I didn't really like was the finish when Bravo Americano came into the ring to insert the metal plate into El Grande Americano’s mask to get the Original El Grande Americano to hit a flying headbutt to be knocked out. I just wanted a cool ending where they're trying to get their finishers off. But Ludwig Kaiser's rendition of El Grande Americano continues to ride the hot hand as he picked up the win. He wins Rey de Reyes and is now the No. 1 Contender for the AAA Mega Title; he beats the Original El Grande Americano. Now on NXT, he faces the WWE NXT Tag Team Champions, and WWE EVOLVE World Champion Jackson Drake, Vanity Project as Los Americanos take them on in a Six-Man Tag Team Match. El Grande Americano has been a busy man, who has been gaining a tremendous amount of momentum. But I really hope this story does end with Chad Gable being back, and letting Ludwig Kaiser be El Grande Americano.
The 2nd Match: AJ Lee (c) vs. Bayley in a WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title Match | The Match Rating: *** — AJ Lee’s best match to date in her 2nd Run for WWE. Bayley got her chance after winning a No. 1 Contender's Gauntlet Match last week, but Bayley also hasn't had luck on her side as she lost to Flammer at AAA Rey de Reyes for the AAA Reina de Reinas Title. This was a lot better than AJ Lee and Becky Lynch at WWE Elimination Chamber. AJ Lee looked so much better. There were good sequences; she had solid chemistry with Bayley, like everything was flowing in the right direction. AJ Lee got the win as she made Bayley submit to the Black Widow, but things didn't end in a good way for AJ Lee as Becky Lynch unleashed a vicious attack against her, brutally beating her down. She also cracked AJ Lee with the WWE Women's Intercontinental Title. We all know the rematch is happening at WrestleMania, so I hope the build for it goes well.
The 3rd Match: Penta (c) vs. Dragon Lee in a WWE Intercontinental Title Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — The Match of the Night, Penta has restored the WWE Intercontinental Title, already had two good title defenses, and we get Dragon Lee answering the call? Yeah, this had me excited. The action in the ring kept me glued to my TV. Dragon Lee is someone who has been elevated in many ways in the recent months, and this match matched the chemistry that was off the hook. Dragon Lee and Penta were trading back and forth. There were many spots in this match where I was left in awe. I really enjoyed this match a lot. This might be one of mt favorite WWE TV Matches so far this year. The idea of a WWE Intercontinental Open Challenge is great. Dominik Mysteiro didn't do much with the belt, but now Penta did more than Dominik Mysteiro in the months Dominik Mysteiro had the belt. Dragon Lee’s outside dive was insane. He flew almost into the crowd. The ending of this match was so awesome. Dragon Lee rips off his Elbow Pad to inflict pain, but Penta caught him, then proceeded to hit the Mexican Destroyer to get the win. I hope Penta continues these Open Challenges. The man who should dethrone him, if I had to choose, is Dragon Lee or Je'Von Evans. But I need more Open Challenges. I would like JD McDonagh to answer next week, but man, amazing match, this was awesome. Keep this up.
The 4th Match: Nattie vs. Maxxine Dupri in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: N/A — Nattie and Maxxine Dupri’s feud, I assume, is finally over. Nattie has won 3-0 against Maxxine Dupri in an easy defeat. Each match was Maxxine Dupri getting dismantled, and she had no single chance. Nattie is being built up. I can see her being in some title feud after WrestleMania, maybe something filler, but Maxxine Dupri's stock hit an all-time low now, and to add something, we saw Austin Theory talking to Maxxine Dupri backstage, which hinted maybe she joins The Vision? I’m very confused, but please end this feud. I hope this is it because it adds nothing to the show, and just makes Maxxine Durpi look like a deer in headlights.
The Main Event Match: Stephanie Vaquer vs. Raquel Rodriguez (with Liv Morgan) in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: **.50 — Funny enough, this match was all better than the previous title matches they had against each other. Stephanie Vaquer, I'm glad she was wrestling. She was always entertaining to watch. However, Raquel Rodriguez and her never seem to make magic in the ring; the chemistry is just never there whatsoever. But they needed to add to the Liv Morgan vs. Stephanie Vaquer story. I was really happy to see IYO SKY, but I really hope Raquel Rodriguez isn't IYO SKY's opponent. I'm still hoping for Asuka to be her opponent. Liv Morgan got taken out by Stephanie Vaquer, as Stephanie Vaquer comes away with the win. I do like the build between Liv Morgan and Stephanie Vaquer, but I feel like it could've been a lot better because these are two talented wrestlers. I just want WWE to do some crazy angles with those two. But we have a month to go before WrestleMania, so let’s hope some chaotic angles occur.
The March 16th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — The Match of the Night: Penta (c) vs. Dragon Lee in a WWE Intercontinental Title Match | The Match Rating: ****.25 — Penta restored the WWE Intercontinental Title and had two strong defenses. Dragon Lee answered the call, and their match was incredible, full of impressive spots and chemistry. Lee’s outside dive was insane, and the ending with the Mexican Destroyer was fantastic. I hope Penta continues these Open Challenges; Lee or Je’Von Evans could dethrone him. More challenges like JD McDonagh next week would be great. Overall, an awesome match, I really enjoyed it.
The March 16th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — The Episode Grade: 7/10 (B-) — This felt like a true Road to WrestleMania edition of Monday Night RAW, powered by a fiery crowd from start to finish. Oba Femi made a big statement by challenging Brock Lesnar to a match at WrestleMania, and the show delivered several solid matches overall. The CM Punk and Roman Reigns segment flopped, but I still believe they’re capable of producing a much better one. I’ve really enjoyed Monday Night RAW over the past three weeks and hope that momentum continues. This episode was chaotic in the best way, and I’d love to see them maintain that same intensity going forward.
