The March 9th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — The Episode Rundown:
AJ Lee wants challengers for her WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title. Now, she gets to have a fresh challenger as a Gauntlet No. 1 Contender’s Match will take place tonight. The following competitors are Asuka, Bayley, Ivy Nile, IYO SKY, Lyra Valkyria, and Raquel Rodriguez. Six of the top women wrestlers from Monday Night RAW will battle in an elimination-style match. Asuka, who hasn’t had an eventful past month, wants something, so she’ll try to earn her opportunity. Bayley, who hasn’t been lucky with losing every big-time match, but that can change tonight. IYO SKY just recently lost her WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles with the disbanding of RHIYO. Now, she wants her own direction. She’ll try to add another title to her resume as she tries to become the next No. 1 Contender. Lyra Valkyria, the former WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title holder, hasn’t had any luck since SummerSlam last year, as she has been lost in the mix, but she has a major chance as she can engrave her name to face AJ Lee next. The potenial favorite of the match, Judgement Day’s own Raquel Rodriguez, wants to get her first singles gold on the Main Roster, but has to go through a Gauntlet of amazing wrestlers. She will try to add her name to the history of the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title as she’ll try to take down every woman in the Gauntlet. Six women who’ll last? We’ll find out tonight.
After winning his singles gold against Dominik Mysterio last week, Penta is going to do something Dominik Mysterio couldn’t ever do, and that’s defend his WWE Intercontinental Title against the Original El Grande Americano. Penta promised El Grande Americano last week that if he wins, he will be first in line. El Grande Americano is capping off a successful weekend as he defeated La Parka on AAA on FOX, and now can walk into his Rey de Reyes with potentially the WWE Intercontinental Title, with a chance to become the No. 1 Contender for the AAA Mega Title. But can Penta focus as the honeymoon is over? Now it’s time to defend and honor the WWE Intercontinental Title, which lost its prestige with Dominik Mysterio. He looks to restore the honor of the title as he looks to take down El Grande Americano tonight. A huge title match as two of the top in-ring competitors on the Monday Night RAW brand go to blow, will we see a new WWE Intercontinental Champion? Or will Penta start his reign strong?
Rusev had a strong start to his 2nd run in WWE. Taking down Alpha Academy. Ending Sheamus at Clash in Paris. Had a lot of momentum, but once he came up short for the WWE Intercontinental Title, that’s when the downfall struck. Lost to Jey Uso and barely lasted a minute in the Men’s Royal Rumble. But Rusev reemerged on Monday Night RAW, having an issue with Oba Femi, who’s the hottest free agent in WWE, trying to decide which brand he’ll further his career, but Rusev took an issue with that. Rusev has been trying to build momentum to climb back up the rankings. Last week, he called out Oba Femi once more, but was made an example as Oba Femi made quick work of laying him out. But tonight, Oba Femi has his first rivalry on the Main Roster as he takes on Rusev in some Singles Action. Embrace yourself for some heavyweights clashing with each other tonight.
