My Thoughts on the July 28th Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW:
My Thoughts: This was a very enjoyable episode of Monday Night RAW, effectively setting up the final storylines before SummerSlam. The show featured entertaining tag team matches, with CM Punk giving Gunther a tough time during the promo segment. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed delivered standout moments by defeating both Jey Uso and Roman Reigns, leaving them exhausted as the show ended. Monday Night RAW has been fantastic this year; each week feels like must-watch TV, unlike SmackDown. With the upcoming WWE Draft and the promising SummerSlam, RAW continues to maintain its hot streak this summer.
The July 28th | Episode of WWE Monday Night RAW — Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: AJ Styles & The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) vs. The Judgement Day (Dominik Mysterio, Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez) in a Mixed Six-Person Tag Team Match | Match Rating: ***.75 | This was so much fun to watch a very fun opener to Monday Night RAW as The Kabuki Warriors team up with AJ Styles to take on The Judgement Day. I thought AJ Styles looked very good, and his hot tag was awesome as the crowd was loving it. I did love the intro action of The Kabuki Warriors and The Judgement Day. AJ Styles gets the win on Dominik Mysterio, hitting the Phenomenal Forearm to get his team the victory. Now he gets a pin over the man he’ll be facing this Sunday for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
2nd Match: Sheamus vs. Grayson Waller in a Singles Match | Match Rating: N/A | This was a filler match, so Rusev can come afterwards and attack Sheamus. But I must say Grayson Waller is in the best shape of his life, and I want to see how his thing with the New Day goes. But I did like some bits of the match. Sheamus is just wonderful to watch in the ring with the hard strikes and aggressiveness he brings to his matches. Rusev came out towards the end to try to get Sheamus to lose, but it didn’t work. Sheamus proceeds to hit a Brogue Kick to get the victory, then Rusev hits him with Sheamus’ Shillelagh multiple times to cause bruising on the’ body of Sheamus. Rusev and Sheamus’ feud has been exceptional as it has done wonders to build Rusev up as a monster, and O hope the final match is a Donnybrook Match.
3rd Match: IYO SKY, Nikki Bella, Rhea Ripley & Stephanie Vaquer vs. Naomi & The Green Regime (Alba Fyre, Chelsea Green & Piper Niven) in an Eight-Women Tag Team Match | Match Rating: ***.50 | This was a very fun face vs. heel Eight-Women Tag Team Match. IYO SKY, Rhea Ripley & Stephanie Vaquer on the same team is like the ’96 Bulls with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman, just a lethal big-three. This match was just a lot of fun. These all-star tag as been a fixture in wrestling as of late, as AEW has been doing a lot of them now WWE seems to want to enter that realm. The Secret Hervice were doing a great job being the nasty heels of this match, same with Naomi, as she tried to leave the match, but IYO SKY stopped her. Rhea Ripley gets the win for her team, and they prevail. I do like all-star tags, but don’t start a trend, as it’s a weekly thing because AEW does do a lot, and they are fun, but can’t be an every-week fixture of the on-screen product.
4th Match: The Judgement Day (Finn Balor & JD McDonagh) (c) vs. L.W.O. (Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde) in a Tag Team Title Match for the WWE World Tag Team Championships | Match Rating: **** | Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde are highly underrated talents. I have watched them on WWE Main Event and asked why they are doing Prelims for WWE when they can be a fun addition to the RAW Tag Team Division, which needs a lot of saving. This match was so much fun to watch. The Judgement Day looked great, Finn Balor was doing his thing, same as JD McDonagh. There was a lot of cool high-flying action by L.W.O., and we saw El Grande Americano II come out to disrupt the match, but before anything, Dragon Lee made the stop and fought him into the back. As things looked green for L.W.O., another masked man came and stopped them. This man looks quite familiar, as it seems to be Pete Dunne under a mask, helping the Judgement Day win and retain their WWE World Tag Team Titles. This was a fun match, and it seems like Ludwig Kaiser and Pete Dunne are going to team together to take down the Luchadors shortly. At least Pete Dunne has something to do, but where’s Tyler Bate?
The Main Event Match: Jey Uso vs. Bronson Reed (with Paul Heyman) in a Singles Match | Match Rating: N/A | I knew this match wasn’t going to end cleanly as Bron Breakker hit a massive spear to cause the DQ Finish. Roman Reigns proceeded to come out, but man oh man did Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed have a star-making moment as they demolished and whooped the hell out of Jey Uso and Roman Reigns. I loved this closing segment, as this might be my favorite brawl in recent memory for WWE. You see Bron Breakker taking Roman Reigns down with multiple spears, and he did a jumping clothesline onto the table, then speared both Jey Uso and Roman Reigns through a barricade. Bronson Reed hit massive Tsunami’s on Jery Uso and Roman Reigns, then proceeded to take Roman Reigns’ Retro Jordan’s and mouth at both of them. This group, since Seth Rollins’ injury, has been money in my opinion. This group doesn’t need Seth Rollins, as they have looked amazing since his leave of absence, attending to his injured knee. I do wish Seth Rollins a speedy recovery, but this group doesn’t need him whatsoever.
The July 28th | WWE Monday Night RAW — The Match of the Night: The Judgement Day (Finn Balor & JD McDonagh) (c) vs. L.W.O. (Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde) in a Tag Team Title Match for the WWE World Tag Team Championships | Match Rating: ****
The July 28th | WWE Monday Night RAW — Episode Grade: 8.25/10 (B+) — This was such a fun episode of Monday Night RAW as the go-home did a great job planting the final bits and pieces for the stories before SummerSlam. We had fun tag team matches, CM Punk babied Gunther in the promo segment, and Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed had star-making moments as they took down both Jey Uso and Roman Reigns, leaving them lifeless and gasping for air as the Monday Night RAW show was closing off. Monday Night RAW has been amazing this year; every week is like it’s must-watch TV, unlike SmackDown. With the rumored WWE Draft coming soon and with SummerSlam shaping to be a very fun show, it’s looking like RAW isn’t stopping the red-hot heat they had this summer.
