My Thoughts on the September 16th Episode of WWE NXT Homecoming :

My Thoughts: This episode of NXT was incredibly enjoyable and brought with it a powerful sense of nostalgia. From the opening moments, I found myself transported back to those earlier days of the brand, when NXT aired weekly from Full Sail University on both the WWE Network and USA Network. There was something truly special about seeing the show revisit its origins, especially with so many NXT alumni making memorable appearances throughout the night. Having stars like Damian Priest, Finn Balor, Sami Zayn, and Shayna Baszler return felt like a homecoming. Their involvement brought back so many memories of classic matches and moments that defined NXT’s early identity. The energy in the arena was electric, reflecting how much it meant for both the fans and the performers to return to this iconic venue. It showcased the tight-knit community that has always made NXT unique within the wrestling world. Every match on the card delivered, from hard-hitting contests to fast-paced technical showcases, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy. The segments between matches were lively and engaging, filled with meaningful interactions that celebrated the alumni’s legacies while spotlighting the current roster. Each element of the show seemed crafted to honor the past while also encouraging excitement for NXT’s future. I was genuinely impressed by how seamlessly the episode blended nostalgia with fresh storytelling. It was not just a tribute to the Full Sail era but a reminder of why NXT captured so many fans’ imaginations in the first place. Seeing beloved former stars interact with new faces was a highlight, providing both emotional moments and thrilling action. Watching this show made me wish NXT could return to Full Sail more frequently, as the intimate atmosphere and the enthusiastic crowd added so much character. Even if only for one or two special episodes each year, it would be a wonderful tradition and a treat for long-time fans. All in all, this was one of the most enjoyable NXT episodes I’ve experienced in quite some time—a fantastic and heartfelt celebration of what makes NXT so special, both past and present.

The September 16th Episode of WWE NXT Homecoming — The Match Ratings:

The Opening Match: Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair (c) vs. The Culling (Izzi Dame & Tatum Paxley) (with Niko Vance & Shawn Spear) in a WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Match | The Match Rating: **.75 — Now this was a very decent opener for NXT Homecoming after we saw Triple H and Shawn Michaels in the ring reminiscing about old times at Full Sail University. But the Culling had something to prove, and they wanted some gold, but it didn't quite go their way as planned. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair had used their veteran experience to really outsmart Izzi Dame, and Tatum Paxley as rthey had a lot of the upper hand in the first portation of the match but the Culling started to fight back and had some fresh breathe as they were aiming to get the titles but ti didn't got the way they expected as Alexa Bliss hit a Twisted Bliss to win and retain the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles. I'll say this, Izzi Dame has improved. She wasn't very high on her, but she has improved, and it shows. Tatum Paxley is so underrated. She is great in the ring and wishes she could finally get a title sooner rather than later. But this was a lot of fun, I loved that the women shine in the opening, and Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair's reign has been very enjoyable for me.

2nd Match: Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams vs. #DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: **** — Now this was a very decent opener for NXT Homecoming after we saw Triple H and Shawn Michaels in the ring reminiscing about old times at Full Sail University. But the Culling had something to prove, and they wanted some gold, but it didn't quite go their way as planned. 3rd Match: Ethan Page (c) vs. Tyler Breeze in a WWE NXT North American Title Match | The Match Rating: ***.25 — This was a very fun match. If you're unfamiliar with Tyler Breeze, he was one of the most misused wrestlers of the 2010s. He thrived in NXT, but once he joined the main roster, Vince McMahon buried him, relegating him to a jobber and lower-card act, even though he should have been an upper mid-card talent who could bolster the division. I also enjoyed Ethan Page's involvement in this match. There were several moments where it looked like an upset was possible, but ultimately, Ethan Page retained his WWE NXT North American Title. In the crowd was AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., who just last week at Worlds Collide faced Ethan Page in a Fatal Four-Way Match for his title. This hints at a developing storyline between them, which I find intriguing. As for Tyler Breeze, I really missed seeing him wrestle and wish he could stay longer, but as he now works as a trainer for WWE, this was likely a one-off appearance. I doubt he wants to return full-time. He remains one of the big "what ifs" for me--what could have been if he'd been booked well on the main roster, considering this is the same guy who faced Jushin Liger at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn.

The Main Event Match: Lyra Valkyria, Rhea Ripley & Stephanie Vaquer vs. Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx) in a Six-Women Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — Three Former NXT Women's Champions are teaming together to make a super-team to take on the Current WWE NXT Women's Champion, Jacy Jayne, and her stablemates in Fatal Influence in a Main Event six-woman tag Team Match. How enlightening NXT was popular because of the amazing women's revolution, and I loved the fact that they main-evented the NXT Homecoming show. They deserve it, as the Women have been running wrestling in 2025. The in-ring action was fun. I love seeing Rhea Ripley go in the ring. I wish she wrestled often. I don't know why they book her so weirdly, but Lyra Valkyria and Stephanie Vaquer were great in this. The same goes for Fatal Influence, as they try to take down the SuperTeam of Lyra Valkyria, Rhea Ripley, and Stephanie Vaquer, but couldn't, as the NXT Alumni got the win to close out the fun NXT Homecoming Episode.

The September 16th WWE NXT Homecoming  The Match of the Night: Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams vs. #DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ****

The September 16th Edition of WWE NXT Homecoming — The Episode Grade: 7.50/10 (B) — This was a very fun, nostalgic episode of NXT. It reminded me of the times I used to watch it back at Full Sail when it was on the WWE Network and USA Network. We saw a lot of NXT Alumni, such as Damian Priest, Finn Balor, Sami Zayn, and Shayna Baszler, making appearances. This show had such a great vibe to it, the matches on the show were enjoyable, and the segments were fun. I thought this was a great way to honor the memory of NXT at Full Sail, and they did a great job of doing that. I wish they could be back there permanently, but having 1-2 shows per year wouldn’t hurt. Probably one of the most fun I’ve had watching NXT in quite some time, very fun all-around, and it’s always good to see former stars of NXT showing up.
