My Official Thoughts on the July 21st Episode of WWE NXT:
My Official Thoughts: This was a very strong episode of NXT from an in-ring standpoint. I especially enjoyed the Six-Man Tag Team Match. Nikki Blackheart’s debut under the name Reina Volcan was very impressive, and I can see her winning a championship sooner rather than later. The Main Event was also very good, featuring Mike Santana’s debut on WWE TV as an official member of the roster. Overall, it was a very strong episode.
My Official Match Ratings for the July 21st WWE NXT Episode:
The Opening Match: DarkState (Cutler James, Dion Lennox & Osiris Griffin) vs. Noam Dar, Romeo Moreno & Saquon Shugars in a Six-Man Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***.75 — This match was a lot of fun. Noam Dar & Romeo Moreno helped out Saquon Shugars with his DarkState problem, but it didn't manage to help them come away with the win, as DarkState came away with the win at the end of the Six-Man Tag Team Match. I do think the future match between Dion Lennox & Saquon Shugars will have some stipulation involved to further the feud and possibly close the chapter on it.
The 2nd Match: Keanu Carver vs. Hank Walker (with Tank Ledger) in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: N/A — This was a squash match in a sense as Keanu Carver had the upper hand majority of the match, I did think this match contiunes to help Keanu Carver momentum but after the match he wasn’t standing tall as EK Prosper & Hank and Tank all started to get at Keanu Carver after the match as they all stood tall.
The 3rd Match: Jaida Parker vs. Nattie (with Karmen Petrovic & Nikkita Lyons) in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: **.50 — A very boring match. The feud is boring as well. I don't see anybody getting any momentum out of this; this feels dull. The match wasn't all of that. I do think Jaida Parker, in my eyes, has regressed as a wrestler. It's not on her, but how she's booked isn't the best. I feel like she should've held a title by now in her career in NXT. But I do think this feud could continue; maybe some spark can come out of this feud.
The 4th Match: Shawn Spears vs. Niko Vance (with Izzi Dame) in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: N/A — I'm not interested in this rivalry or feud, whatever you're going to do; it's not going to give me interest because I don't think highly of Niko Vance, and I don't expect him to be at the top of NXT. But Shawn Spears was okay in this match. The match didn't have a conclusion, as it ended in a DQ. Shawn Spears technically won, but the feud should continue throughout the summer, as I see the goal as making something out of Niko Vance.The 5th Match: Reina Volcan vs. Skylar Raye in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: N/A — This was the arrival of Reina Volcan as she made quick work of Skylar Raye in this match, as she made her destruction in this match really exciting to see how Reina Volcan does in NXT after coming from the Nikki Blackheart.
The Main Event Match: Tony D’Angelo (c) vs. Naraku in a WWE NXT Title Street Fight | The Match Rating: **** — I guess this was the conclusion of this feud, as we saw what occurred, but this was a great match from both men, and I wasn't the biggest EVIL fan in NJPW because I thought he was boring and mediocre in the ring, but in this match he did well, and I have to give props where props are due. But after the match, we saw Mike Santana make his official WWE Debut as rumors were swirling that he signed with WWE after departing from TNA, a very strong signing. He should win the WWE NXT Title, then move to the Main Roster.
My Official Match of the Night for the July 21st Episode of WWE NXT: Tony D’Angelo (c) vs. Naraku in a WWE NXT Title Street Fight | The Match Rating: **** — This feud’s conclusion showed a great match from both men. I wasn’t a big EVIL fan in NJPW, finding him boring and mediocre, but he performed well here, so props to him. Afterward, Mike Santana officially debuted in WWE amidst rumors he signed after leaving TNA. He’s a strong signing. He should win the WWE NXT Title and then move to the Main Roster.
My July 21st Official Episode Grade for WWE NXT: 7.50/10 (B) — This was a very strong episode of NXT in-ring material. I enjoyed the Six-Man Tag Team Match. I thought Nikki Blackheart’s in-ring debut was very solid as she’s going by Reina Volcan. I do expect her to win some gold sooner rather than later. The Main Event Match was very good with Mike Santana debuting on WWE TV as an official member of the WWE Roster. But a very strong episode.
