My Official Thoughts on the April 14th Episode of WWE NXT Revenge Week One:
My Official Thoughts: This was a very fun NXT Revenge Week One, we had both the WWE NXT Title and WWE NXT Women's Title defended as we saw the young talented future of the Women's NXT Division come out to be face-to-face with Lola Vice like Izzi Dame, Kali Arstrong, Kendal Grey & Zaria as they are targeting the WWE NXT Women's Title, and Tony D'Angelo had a very solid first title defense as he defeated Ethan Page. But this was a fun episode, and next week, NXT Revenge Week Two Episode looks to be fun.
The April 14th Episode of WWE NXT Revenge Week One — My Official Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Kelani Jordan vs. Jaida Parker in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: *** — This is an interesting feud. I obviously think a rubber match will happen at the next NXT PLE. But Kelani Jordan getting the win, split the series to 1-1. Both women, after this feud, I would hope to enter into some title program. But Kelani Jordan gets the win; she is getting better with time as a heel. She gives me babyface vibes at first because she wasn't believable as a heel, but now she's been doing a better job as a heel. I do think that if a stipulation is added should be a Street Fight.
The 2nd Match: Kali Armstrong vs. Skylar Raye in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ***.25 — What a debut for Kali Armstrong in NXT, also what a performance by Skylar Raye, both women in this match wowed me tremendously. Kali Armstrong was already in the WWE NXT Women’s Title scene after one night, after what we saw at the end of this episode, but this match was a quick preview in a good way because both women in this match shone in my eyes. Also, to note, I never thought I’d see a Shoulder Tackle as a finisher, but the way Kali Armstrong does it makes it look insane, also what sells by Skylar Raye. Both women in this match have bright futures, but Kali Armstrong, I won’t be shocked if her & Kendal Grey run this Women’s Division for the next 1-2 years before they get called up to the Main Roster.
The 3rd Match: Tony D’Angelo (c) vs. Ethan Page in a WWE NXT Title Match | The Match Rating: **** — Solid 1st Title Defense, as I think we saw Ethan Page final match in his two year tenure in NXT which was a major success because he came into NXT as someone who could be a good veteran piece as an annoying cocky heel who can be a star in the Main Roster. Tony D'Angelo was very solid in this match. He has been doing a great job since his return last year. I must say he improved in a lot of areas as a wrestler. But I'm glad we saw Ethan Page put Tony D'Angelo over on his way to the Main Roster. Ricky Saints being dragged out by Shiloh Hill was hilarious. But very fun, and solid title defense.
The 4th Match: EK Propser vs. Dorian Van Dux in a WWE Speed Title Tournament Semi-Final Round Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — Let me say this I wasn’t too familair with Dorian Van Dux I know he on WWE EVOLVE and occsionally on AAA but man, he showed me something tonight, this was one of my favorite Speed Matches in recent times, Dorian Van Dux looks like a monster, but can also mover like a high-flyer which is impressive I did some more digging on him he also worked in AJPW which is pretty neat some he got some solid expericne. Eli Knight, who is now going by EK Propser been someone rising through the NXT Roster. Next week, he’ll face Lexis King in a WWE Speed Title Match to determine a new Speed Champion. I rarely give star ratings to Speed Matches as they aren’t over five minutes, but this match was so much fun. Both men have big futures ahead of them.
The Main Event Match: Lola Vice (c) vs. Jacy Jayne (with Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid) in a WWE NXT Women’s Title Match | The Match Rating: ***.75 — Jacy Jayne probably had her last match in NXT, as we saw her lose to Lola Vice in the Main Event of this Week One of NXT Revenge. Jacy Jayne has been established because of her two WWE NXT Women's Title Reigns. After the match, we saw Kali Armstrong, Kendal Grey & Zaria set their sights on the WWE NXT Women's Title, which excites me, and Izzi Dame from above is also eyeing the WWE NXT Women's Title. We have a very competitive young division; it's going to be exciting going into the summer, seeing how everything pans out.
The April 14th Episode of WWE NXT Revenge Week One — My Match of the Night: Tony D’Angelo (c) vs. Ethan Page in a WWE NXT Title Match | The Match Rating: **** — The solid first title defense demonstrated Ethan Page’s final match during his two-year tenure in NXT, marking a significant achievement. He entered NXT as a promising veteran character, an irritating, self-assured heel capable of becoming a star on the Main Roster. Tony D’Angelo performed very well in this match, continuing his great improvement since returning last year. I’m pleased to see Ethan Page elevate Tony D’Angelo during his journey to the Main Roster. The segment where Shiloh Hill dragged out Ricky Saints was hilarious. Overall, it was an enjoyable and solid title defense.
The April 14th Episode of WWE NXT Revenge Week One — My Official Episode Grade: 7.25/10 (B-) — This was a very entertaining first week of NXT Revenge. Both the WWE NXT Title and the WWE NXT Women’s Title were defended, and we saw the young, talented future of the Women’s NXT division step up face-to-face with Lola Vice, including Izzi Dame, Kali Armstrong, Kendal Grey, and Zaria, all clearly eyeing the WWE NXT Women’s Championship. Tony D’Angelo also had a strong first title defense with his win over Ethan Page. Overall, this was a fun episode, and next week’s NXT Revenge Week Two is shaping up to be just as exciting.
