Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens have been engaged in a blood Feud since October of 2024. After feeling like Rhodes betrayed him at WWE Bad Blood for teaming with former rival Roman Reigns , Owens has since been rebellious, dangerous, and quite frankly losing his mind. He even sidelined put Randy Orton with a major injury. On December 14th, 2024 edition of Saturday’s Night Main Event , after losing to Rhodes, Owens put Rhodes in a Package Pile-Driver—a devastating move that is banned in the WWE—that landed Rhodes on his head and neck region. Owens feels like he won the match after Rhodes cheated to win, so he has been carrying the iconic Winged Eagle Belt that was used in the 80s and 90s ever since. Now at the Royal Rumble, they’ll hang both the current Undisputed WWE Championship and the Winged Eagles WWE Championship belts above in a Ladder Match. This is the match will potentially be the ending of their rivalry, which begs the question; Who will come out of the Royal Rumble as WWE Champion?
Since the arrival of Motor City Gun Machine there was some envy from Tommaso Ciampa because of how the group won the WWE Tag Team Championships in three matches and they never had their true one on one rematch for the titles. Tommaso Ciampa for weeks gave Johnny Gargano an order if he doesn’t stand with him the tag team is over. When Motor City Gun Machine were defending there WWE Tag Team Championships against DIY Johnny Gargano did the unthinkable and cheated to win the WWE Tag Team Championships for a 2nd Time. Now after a number one contender tournament to determine who’ll face DIY next Motor City Gun Machine won after defeating Los Garzas now, they’ll face DIY at the Royal Rumble for the WWE Tag Team Championships in there 1st ever WWE PPV Appearance. The match has a stipulation which is a Best of Two Out of Three Falls Match. This match can go either way as this SmackDown Tag Division all have their eyes on this match as whoever comes out victorious will have a huge target on their back leading into the WrestleMania Season. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are looking to be a 2x WWE Tag Team Champions will they make it happen?
