My Thoughts on the December 13th Episode of WWE Saturday Night Main Event: John Cena's Final Match:

My Thoughts: This was a very fun event due to the fact that the young talent was one of the main highlights. I love the fact that John Cena wanted the younger talent to be showcased, giving back to the fans and wrestlers. The WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and the WWE NXT Champion Oba Femi match was such a hoot until Drew McIntyre, who has been booked abysmally to the point his stocks are at an all-time low, got embarrassed by Cody Rhodes and Oba Femi, and I feel like we'll see Oba Femi on the Main Roster in 2026. But I think they to run this back in the future because this is a Big Four Main Event Match. Sol Ruca shocked the world as she got the biggest win of her career. She took down the 4x WWE Women's World Champion Bayley, and this goes to show how much they value Sol Ruca because she's a cornerstone piece for the future of the Women's Division. AJ Styles and Dragon Lee had their hands full as Je'Von Evans and Leon Slater gave them a fight, even though it was a quick sprint. I do hope they run this back because this was such an electric match and probably the 2nd second-best match from the show. The Main Event we saw Gunther make the man who hasn't tapped in 20 years tap in his Final Career Match as John Cena gave a smile and tapped to end his legendary career. This was a fun show. The young talent, and seeing John Cena go on his own terms, which not a lot of wrestlers can do, is special. Have a great retirement, John Cena. We’ll all miss you.

The December 13th Episode of WWE Saturday Night Main Event: John Cena's Final Match — The Match Ratings:

The Opening Match: Cody Rhodes vs. Oba Femi in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: *** — Oh my goodness, Oba Femi is the future of this business. This was such an amazing match, and Cody Rhodes was getting thrown around like a rag doll, as he should, because he made Oba Femi look great. This match was getting into many gears until Drew McIntyre came and made it a DQ Finish. But he didn't walk away as Cody Rhodes and Oba Femi ganged up on Drew McIntyre to take him down but run this match back because oh my goodness the crowd was electric for Oba Femi this man needs a World Title less than 6 Months on the Main Roster strap the rocket he's the face of this comapny for hyearts to come what an opener I want this match again.

2nd Match: Sol Ruca (with Zaria) vs. Bayley (with Lyra Valkyria) in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — What a match, this match just elevated Sol Ruca to new heights as she defeated the 4x WWE Women's World Champion Bayley. Sol Ruca wowed the crowd as they were behind her, and this was a proper way to do this match. I liked how the finish was done with the roll-up win too a loud reception. This was such a fun match. Sol Ruca is simply one of the future cornerstones of WWE as they head into the future, and she is going to be someone everyone is going to remember because of how amazing she is.

3rd Match: AJ Styles & Dragon Lee vs. Je'Von Evans & Leon Slater in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***.75 — This was so much fun. This match was at 100% Speed. It started off with Je'Von Evans and Leon Slater just getting things started, and we saw them dominate early. This match was so quick, but it did the job. WWE can have matches like this every week if they just allow people to go at this speed. The brief moment seeing AJ Styles and Leon Slater going at it was so awesome, the first-ever TNA X-Division Champion going against the Current TNA X-Division Champion. Je'Von Evans and AJ Styles, I need that as well, same with Je'Von Evans and Dragon Lee. This was an awesome match. AJ Styles and Dragon Lee are doing a great job as a team. This was so much fun. I hope they can run it back in the future.

The Main Event Match: Gunther vs. John Cena in John Cena's Final Career Match | The Match Rating: ****.50 — A very good storytelling match of can John Cena turn back the clock one final time to deliver a John Cena classic against one of the best in the game, “The Ring General” Gunther. John Cena, who’s out of his prime, is giving one more go at one of the best in the business in Gunther. This match was filled with John Cena callbacks, seeing Super Cena for the final time, and seeing him wow us like he always did. Gunther was a masterful heel in this match, giving in with the crowd and being the chickenshit heel he has been. John Cena hit an FU through the announce table, an Avalanche FU, and hit his signature comeback all for one final time. As the match progressed, we saw Gunther weaken and dominate John Cena. When John Cena was in the sleeper hold for a very long time, grasping for air, and when he knew his time was up, he gave one last smile and tapped out — in the first time in 20 years, John Cena tapped out in his final match as Gunther managed to do what he told us he was going to do: make John Cena tap. As he lay on the mat, everyone came out — from creative, backstage personnel, and the wrestlers. I loved it when CM Punk and Cody Rhodes came in and gave their belts to John Cena to raise these titles one last time as he hit all four corners in the ring. The visual of John Cena watching his tribute video as everyone praises one of the greatest was a sight to see. John Cena was bowing, giving respect to the fans who loved him for the past 23 years. John Cena then did what many wrestlers do when they retire: he left his armbands and shoes to leave the ring, and walking his way to the back was an emotional sight to witness. As he turned around one final time, he thanked everyone again, then faded away in the closing shot. We don’t come across wrestlers like this very often, but I’ll tell you this: we will never see someone like John Cena again. The 17-time World Champion now rides off into the sunset on his own terms as he officially retires. June 27th, 2002 - December 13th, 2025 — a long 23-year career comes to an end. One thing I want to say is Thank You, John Cena, for the childhood and adulthood memories you created for me. Enjoy retirement because we all will miss you. If you want some, come get some. The career of John Cena has officially closed. Who’ll now take the brass ring and make their name next?

The December 13th WWE Saturday Night Main Event: John Cena's Final Match — The Episode Grade: 7.50/10 (B) — This was an enjoyable event, as we saw the young stars shine as Sol Ruca pulled off an upset victory, Je'Von Evans and Leon Slater shone in a quick sprint against AJ Styles and Dragon Lee, Oba Femi dominated against Cody Rhodes, and John Cena had one final woorah as Gunther managed to make John Cena tap for the first time in 20 years.
