My Thoughts on the January 24th Episode of WWE Saturday Night Main Event:
My Thoughts: This was a very strong edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, and arguably the best since the show’s return in 2024. The card was consistently engaging from start to finish, and I genuinely enjoyed every match on the broadcast. Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu delivered a chaotic and compelling brawl that spilled throughout the arena, adding an exciting sense of unpredictability to the show. RHIYO also competed in an entertaining match that maintained the crowd’s energy and further contributed to the night’s overall momentum. Meanwhile, The Judgment Day came up short in their bout, which may have meaningful implications for their ongoing storylines moving forward. One of the most noteworthy elements of the show was AJ Styles’ performance. His in-ring work continues to be at an exceptionally high level, and I sincerely hope this does not signal that he is nearing retirement, as he remains a top-tier performer. Additionally, Sami Zayn appears to be building toward an anticipated clash with Drew McIntyre in Saudi Arabia, a match that has the potential to be a major highlight on an international stage. Overall, this episode showcased strong in-ring action, meaningful storyline development, and several standout performances, reaffirming Saturday Night’s Main Event as a valuable part of the current product.
The January 24th Episode of WWE Saturday Night Main Event — The Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: RHIYO (Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY) (c) vs. The Judgement Day (Liv Morgan & Roxanne Perez) in a WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Match | The Match Rating: **** — This was so much fun, this match was filled with drama, creative spots, and chaos inside the ring and outside of the ring. I did say I thought The Judgement Day was going to win, but I was clearly wrong, but hey, this match delivered, so I can’t be mad. There were a few moments in this match where I thought The Judgement Day were going to win. I loved the referee bump spot with Raquel Rodiguez; it was creative and effective, and I don’t like referee bump spots, but they did a good job with this one. Stephanie Vaquer, the WWE Women’s World Champion, returned from injury and fended off the woman who got her injured in Raquel Rodriguez as they fought in the crowd. The ending of the match was fun, and RHIYO retained. The crowd was electrified by the energy on this natch was a great, just an all-around entertaining, chaotic match. I was entertained.
The 2nd Match: AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ****.75 — This was a beautiful match, a match that told a story of two of the greatest to ever do and duel for one last time against each other. I loved how Shinsuke Nakamura reverted to his Wrestle Kingdom 10 Attire, and the same with AJ Styles paying homage to that as well. This was such a hard-hitting, technical, and chaotic match. AJ Styles still can go at his old age, and the same with Shinsuke Nakamura, because he was locked in with this match, and he gave AJ Styles one of the final good matches of his legendary career. As I get older, I realize the majority of the people I grew up watching will be all gone and retired. But man, I really hope AJ Styles doesn’t retire, we have 11 more months of fun matches and matches we haven't seen him have. But this was beautiful, and this is why I love Professional Wrtesyling. Flowers need to be given to AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura. What an amazing match, and I really loved how they allowed them to go for a long time. Now, AJ Styles has the momentum and has to take down Gunther if he wants his career to keep going.
The Main Event Match: Sami Zayn vs. Damian Priest vs. Randy Orton vs. Trick Williams in an Undisputed WWE Title No. 1 Contender's Fatal 4-Way Match | The Match Rating: **** — A very fun match, and the highlight from this had to be Trick Williams, who was awesome in this match. Trick Williams was doing everything and was involved with everything. He was jabbing back and forth with the referee and using dirty tactics. He was awesome. Damian Priest was doing his thing in this match. He was like the pin-eater of this match, but he did his part. Randy Orton was awesome. I enjoyed him just hitting the suplex on the announcer’s table, and there were many moments I thought he was about to win. Sami Zayn gets his massive shot as he will gface Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble for the WWE Undisputed Title Match. Fun all-around match, and very satisfied with this event.
The January 24th WWE Saturday Night Main Event — The Match of the Night: AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ****.75
The January 24th WWE Saturday Night Main Event — The Episode Grade: 8.25/10 (B+) — This was a very good Saturday Night's Main Event show. This was probably the best one since the return of the show back in 2024. I enjoyed every match that was shown. Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu were brawling around the arena, which was pretty rad. RHIYO had an entertaining match & The Judgement Day came up short. and man... I hope AJ Styles isn't retiring because he can go at a high level. Sami Zayn will soon clash with Drew McIntyre in Saudi Arabia.
