My Thoughts on the WWE Premium Live Event — WWE SummerSlam:
My Thoughts: Night One was a solid start, notably better than WrestleMania Night One. It kicked off with an entertaining match where Roman Reigns and Jey Uso defeated Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair became the new Women’s Tag Team Champions. Sami Zayn concluded his storyline with Karrion Kross and moved on to bigger pursuits. Tiffany Stratton made history as the first woman to beat Jade Cargill clean, delivering a shocking defeat. Jelly Roll and Randy Orton were defeated by Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. CM Punk captured the World Championship, but Seth Rollins, The Visionary, interrupted his celebration. Overall, a fun Night One, but Night Two must deliver with a stronger match card and more title bouts.
WWE Premium Live Event | WWE SummerSlam — The Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Jey Uso & Roman Reigns vs. Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed (with Paul Heyman) in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: **** — This was a perfect opener for SummerSlam as we kicked things off with Jey Uso and Roman Reigns taking on Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. This was fun, I enjoyed a lot of this match and liked the fact that Roman Reigns was trying in this match, pulling out, oves I haven't seen him fdo in years. Jey Uso looked solid as he's a tag team specialist. Bron Breakker was flying around and being a disruptor in this match, same like Bronson Reed. The only thing I didn't like was how Jey Uso and Roman Reigns won. I felt like the Bronsons should've won; they needed it more, and Jey Uso and Roman Reigns are established individuals in their own right. But a really fun opening match with a lot of high-stakes, and a lot of really fun moments, that's how you open up SummerSlam.
2nd Match: The Judgement Day (Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez) (c) vs. Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair in a WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Match | The Match Rating: ***.50 — This match started very slow for me, but it did pick up as the match went on. I liked the fact that the Judgement Day unit of Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez have gel together, they are a really good unit, and I must say Raquel Rodriguez has done better with Roxanne Perez, she plays her role well. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair were hitting on all cylinders latter part of the match. It started to kick up, and we saw the fun back-and-forth action. I liked how Alexa Bliss was in this match. She and Raquel Rodriguez were my MVPs of this match. I liked the chaos at the end. I was surprised that Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair won. Now they're the new WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, and I do feel like The Judgement Day is going to lose all their titles shortly.
3rd Match: Sami Zayn vs. Karrion Kross (with Scarlett) in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ** — This was the worst match of the entire show it was a filler match to finish the storyline between Karrion Kross and Sami Zayn, which has been going on since January of this year, and Sami Zayn got the win. We know Karrion Kross is on the cusp of having his Contract going to be finished, so this could potentially be his last match in his WWE Career unless he has resigned. But there were some good moments, but they should have had a stipulation to further this match to make it a lot better. But now Sami Zayn can put Karrion Kross in the rearview window, but is Karrion Kross done? Or will he reappear and start something new with someone? I'm a fan of Karrion Kross, and I do feel as though he needs to improve in the ring. But he has everything else to succeed, but the wrestling aspect is the most important part. Maybe the Era of Kross has officially ended at the hands of Sami Zayn.
4th Match: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill in a WWE Women’s Title Match | The Match Rating: **.75 — This match was up-and-down for me. I did like some parts, but giving them seven minutes wasn't a good idea. I get that Jade Cargill isn't the type of wrestler to last long in matches, but this should've at least gone to twelve minutes. But I did like some moments, the two of them have some chemistry, their match on SmackDown earlier in the year wasn't bad so I do think a better match is in both of them, but I was super shocked how easy Tiffany Stratton beat Jade Cargill wasn't any dirt tactics, a clean finish, which I was so surprised about. I had Jade Cargill winning this match and having her feud with Bianca Belair starting, but Tiffany Stratton's reign still prevails. Wonder what's next for both of these ladies.
5th Match: Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul vs. Jelly Roll & Randy Orton in a Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: **.50 — Now I'm shocked that Jelly Roll and Randy Orton didn't win this match I had them 100% winning this match knowing how celebrity matches go with them winning 99.9% of the time but we got Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul standing tall. Jelly Roll didn't look bad, but didn't look good. He had some moments, like the frog-splash through the table from Logan Paul and taking a Claymore, and I must say his Chokeslam is nice. Randy Orton had his hot tag and did his thing, hitting RKO's with everyone going wild. Now, after all of this, sheganians have Drew McIntyre revert to a serious heel and target the World Title. It has been long overdue, and I think it's time for him to get his 4th World Title in WWE. With Randy Orton hope that the pending heel turn comes soon.
6th Match: Gunther (c) vs. CM Punk in a WWE World Title Match | The Match Rating: ***** — Seeing CM Punk and Gunther was like watching an old-school technical classic. Gunther looked like a final boss, and I was so happy he got a Main Event Match on the 2nd Biggest Wrestling Event in WWE. CM Punk is rocking his Fantastic Four Attire as he walks to the ring. This match is a WWE Classic, a straight technical classic, no interference, no shoegians or referee bumps, just pure wrestling as the fans cheer on. I loved watching the chain grappling and the punches being thrown. They didn't go outside a lot; it majority was in the ring, which I liked. Gunther manhandled CM Punk with the chops as he made his chest bleed and turn into ground beef. Gunther had some weak Powerbombs, which I was surprised to see that'sn't something he usually does. There were so many great moments in this match; this is a true SummerSlam Classic, and both men delivered. CM Punk got Gunther to be busted open as blood poured profusely as he fell in the corner, seeing the blood coming down his face. The fight on the ending stretch got more intense, and CM Punk finally hit a GTS, then another GTS to win and become a 5x WWE World Champion. It was long overdue, and even if it lasted for five minutes and ten seconds, it was great seeing him become champion, even if it was for a couple of minutes. A great match and a special moment for CM Punk as he achieved what he wanted to achieve, and Main Eventing now at WrestleMania and SummerSlam in big-time memorable matches, they don't call him Best in the World for a reason because it's a straight fact. The 2nd City Saint took down the Ring General, something not a lot of men can do.
The Main Event Match: CM Punk (c) vs. Seth Rollins (with Paul Heyman) in a WWE World Heavyweight Title Match | The Match Rating: N/A — The Swerve of the Century has happened as Seth Rollins made his wishes come true and ruined CM Punk moment as he became World Champion for the 1st time since 2013 in WWE as he became a 5x World Champion the “Burn It Down” echoed through MetLife as everyone exploded out oif their seats and saw Seth Rollins on crutches but he turned around and dropped both as he charged to the ring and cashed in his Money in the Bank Briefcase. He hit the Curb Stomp and became a 6x WWE World Champion. With Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed coming to the ring and celebrating, the group has officially started their reign of terror as Seth Rollins is back on top of the WWE World. CM Punk broke hearts after his marvelous performance against Gunther and had his moment snatched away from Seth Rollins and the Money in the Bank Briefcase.
WWE Premium Live Event | WWE SummerSlam — The Match of the Night: Gunther (c) vs. CM Punk in a WWE World Title Match | The Match Rating: *****
WWE Premium Live Event | WWE SummerSlam — The Event Grade: 7.50/10 (B-) — This was a solid Night One, a lot better than the WrestleMania Night One Show. We had a very fun opener with Roman Reigns and Jey Uso taking down Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair are the new Women’s Tag Team Champions. Sami Zayn ends the chapter between him and Karrion Kross once and for all and now moves on to bigger things. Tiffany Stratton is the first woman to pin Jade Cargill clean as he makes a shocking defeat against Jade Cargill, Jelly Roll and Randy Orton got taken down by Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul, and CM Punk became World Champion, but his celebration got ruined by the hands of The Visionary, Seth Rollins. Just a fun all-around night one, but Night Two has to deliver as it’s a better Match Card and filled with Title Matches.
