My Thoughts on the February 17th Episode of WWE Tuesday Night NXT:
My Thoughts: This was a very decent episode of NXT. What I enjoyed from this show is the week to week shaping of the newer NXT Roster being in-place in which all the wrestlers are settling in their roles we kinda know who's going to be big-time with the next crop of talent that has been coming in. Another thing I throughly enjoyed from this episode was Ricky Saints cutting a cut-throat promo on the WWE NXT Champion Joe Hendry. He made some valid points, also attributing Joe Hendry being a Meme Champion, which you can't deny; his catchphrases put him in the position he is in today. But this episode shows a lot of improvement. We know the final remaining call-ups will be Ethan Page, Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne, Sol Ruca, and Ricky Saints, as the newer talents will now take over the reins to lead into the new future of NXT.
The February 17th Episode of WWE Tuesday Night NXT — The Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Kelani Jordan vs. Lola Vice in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: **** — A very fun match. Kelani Jordan has been a very good heel. I thought at first it wasn't going to work, as I always saw Kelani Jordan being a super babyface, someone everyone would cheer. But she did a Roxanne Perez; she really changed a lot during her heel turn. Now we're seeing that with Kelani Jordan. One nugget I liked from this match is how it ended; we didn't see it end with a high-flying move or in some acrobatic way. Kelani Jordan made Lola Vice tap out. I really liked how this match went, and I enjoyed the finish of this match. Both ladies killed it. I do assume this feud ends in some stipulatuon maybe a submission match or an NXT Underground Match. But great job by both women, and can't wait for their next match.
2nd Match: Tony D’Angelo vs. Cutler James (with Dion Lennox) in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: N/A — Tony D’Angelo, with a new look and new aggresison made quick work of Cutler James of DarkState as he won in less than 90 seconds. Afterwards, it looked like he was going to completely end Cutler James with a steel-steps but DarkState saved him. I do like the new presentation of Tony D’Angelo; he acts like neither a face nor a heel, just a guy who is trying to get back at people who took away months of his career and took everything away from him. But I’m excited to see how this version of Tony D’Aneglo goes because he could be an NXT Grand Slam Champion if he manages to win the WWE NXT Championship in the future.
3rd Match: The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes) (with Jackson Drake) vs. Hank And Tank (Hank Walker & Tank Ledger) and OTM (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price) and The Culling (Niko Vance & Shawn Spears) in a WWE NXT Tag Team Title No. 1 Contender’s Fatal-Four Way Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***.25 — A very fun Fatal-Four Way Tag Team No.1 Contender's Match for the WWE NXT Tag Team Titles. This was a very good match for the NXT Tag Divison as a whole they have been featured a lot as of the last few weeks given the importance of WWE trying to rebuild NXT with new faces rthey signed, and developed in EVOLVE we saw Vanity Project again shine in back-to-back weeks as they're now facing DarkState next week for the WWE NXT Tag Team Titles. It isn't crazy to say we can see new Tag Team Champions in NXT. With DarkState dealing with Tony D'Angelo, noting he wants to make all their lives a living hell, we can see new champions thanks to Tony D'Angelo.
4th Match: Eli Knight vs. Elio LeFleur in a WWE Speed Title No. 1 Contender’s Tournament Final Match | The Match Rating: N/A — Two of the future stars of NXT, Eli Knight and Elio LeFleur, both had a very fun wrestling match, which ended in a Time Limit Draw. But the Interim General Manager of NXT, Robert Stone, came out to declare that next week, a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Speed Title will happen with a seven-minute time limit. In my opinion, they should scrap the WWE Speed Title to turn it into an NXT Television Title. This is probably the least prestigious title in all of WWE. But I’m excited for the time next week, as it includes Eli Knight and Elio LeFleur, two wrestlers I’m highly invested in with this new roster for NXT.
The Main Event Match: Ethan Page (c) vs. Shiloh Hill in a WWE NXT North American Title Match | The Match Rating: **.50 — Shiloh Hill is still green in the ring. I consider him a raw prospect who has been making some strides and has also been improving every week. But this match, to me, was very mediocre and average. There were some solid moments in this match, but once again, Ethan Page retains with him doing that broke the record for the most title defenses for the WWE NXT North American Title. Next week, another record can be shattered as he can become the longest-reigning WWE NXT North American Champion ever. But I don't think that'll happen see because after the match Myles Borne appeared with a chair attacking Ethan Page he put the chair around Ethan Page ankle as Ethan Page pleads but he gives in to promise Myles Borne a match next week for the WWE NXT North American Title as Myles Borne didn't pull the trigger we saw Ethan Page telling him he couldn't get the job done with enraged Myles Borne to shattering the ankle of Ethan Page. Now, Myles Borne has a huge advantage, as Ethan Page’s ankle is severely damaged; we might see Myles Borne finally becoming the next WWE NXT North American Champion.
The February 17th Episode WWE Tuesday Night NXT — The Match of the Night: Kelani Jordan vs. Lola Vice in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: **** — This was a very fun match. Kelani Jordan’s heel run has been very enjoyable. She has tapped into different elements of herself. Her personality is more out there with this run. Lola Vice is on the cusp of being called up, but I do assume this is one of her final feuds in NXT before departing for the Main Roster.
The February 17th Episode of WWE Tuesday Night NXT — The Episode Grade: 6.50/10 (C+) — This was a very decent episode of NXT. What I want more of is seeing the younger talent getting the limelight, in which what they’ve been doing with this new crop of talent that came from EVOLVE now onto NXT. But I’m excited for next week’s episode, we have seven matches with four title matches, so let’s see what transpires in that episode.
