My Thoughts on the July 29th Episode of WWE Tuesday Night NXT:
My Thoughts: NXT in recent memory outside of the PLE has been a very hard-watch, but this episode wasn't os of the hard-watch watches outside of Blake Monroe's abysmal promo. Some of the matches on the show were very enjoyable to watch. But I need NXT to build the male side of things up. But I'm happy Lash Legend has a big-time feud with Nia, Jax goes to show how Triple H views her, she's going to be a star. But other than that, solid show.
The July 29th | Episode of WWE Tuesday Night NXT — Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Jaida Parker vs. Jazmyn Nyx (with Fallon Henley & Jacy Jayne) in a Singles Match | Match Rating: N/A | Jazmyn Nyx had a match, and she looks okay need a lot of work in the ring, but as expected Jaida Parker got the win and I reallu hope she gets a title rtun in the future because it has been long overdue.
2nd Match: Tavion Heights vs. Charlie Dempsey (with Wren Sinclair) in a Singles Match | Match Rating: **.75 | Finally... Tavion Heights is a solo star all alone. I'm quite excited to see what he does because the upside on this kid is tremendous. He can easily be put in the Mid-Card for NXT and go after the WWE NXT North American Title. But this match was okay, I did like some of the moments and intensity as Tavion Heights’ final chance to leave the No Quarter Catch Crew. And he did it, he's finally all alone. Now only Charlie Dempsey and Wren Sinclair are left. I expect that they will conduct a rehaul and add new members to the group, as Charlie Dempsey is a formidable wrestler. I hope he can secure a Main Event slot for NXT shortly.
3rd Match: Fallon Henley vs. (with Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx) defeated Lash Legend in a Singles Match | Match Rating: N/A | This match was okay, but we saw Nia Jax make an appearance and attack Lash Legend as we see what her next feud will be as she’ll be on Lash Legend’s case.
4th Match: Je’Von Evans vs. Wes Lee (with Tyriek Igwe & Tyson Dupont) in a Singles Match | Match Rating: ****.25 | Je'Von Evans is incredible--incredible to watch whenever he's on TV. I thought Wes Was Forming his signature in-ring moves, mixed with his heelish tactics. I enjoyed this match. I'm glad Je'Vo looked like that. Je'Von Evans is now positioned in the old Wes Lee, in the Main Event Scene. After the match, Oba Femi came out holding his WWE NXT Title, just like Tricks Williams did; he's targeting Oba Femi for his title, even though he's the current TNA World Champion. A match between Je'Von Evans and Oba Femi for the NXT World Title seems like the right move because it's a David vs. Goliath situation, and I hope it happens at NXT Heatwave.
The Main Event Match: Ethan Page (c) vs. Santino Marella in a WWE NXT North American Title Match | Match Rating: *** | For his age, Santino Marella didn't look bad. That was the first time I’ve seen him wrestle since 2014. But this match was quick was it was a little filler feud for Ethan Page. I'm surprised he has held this title for this long. I thought he would drop it a while ago, but nope, he's still the WWE NXT North American Champion. The ending sequence was quite funny as Santino Marella was about to hit the Corbra, Ethan Page thumbs him in the eye and retains his title. I wonder who will be the one to take down Ethan Page.
The July 29th | WWE Tuesday Night NXT — Match of the Night: Je’Von Evans vs. Wes Lee (with Tyriek Igwe & Tyson Dupont) in a Singles Match | Match Rating: ****.25
The July 29th | Edition of WWE Tuesday Night NXT — Episode Grade: 7/10 (B-) — NXT has generally been a difficult watch recently, outside of the PLE, but this episode was more watchable, aside from Blake Monroe’s terrible promo. Some matches were very enjoyable, though I wish NXT focused more on developing the male roster. I’m pleased that Lash Legend is in a major feud with Nia Jax, as it indicates Triple H’s confidence in her—she’s going to be a star. Overall, it was a solid show.
