My Thoughts on the August 19th Episode of WWE Tuesday Night NXT:
My Thoughts: The recent special episode of NXT, held in Philadelphia, was commendable. Three out of the four matches featured on the card were particularly enjoyable. It is important to note, however, that there is an urgent need to focus on rebuilding the men’s division, as the departures of Oba Femi and Trick Williams are anticipated in the near future.
The August 19th Episode of WWE Tuesday Night NXT — The Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Josh Briggs vs. Yoshiki Inamura in a Philadelphia Street Fight | The Match Rating: ***.75 — This was a very fun opening match; it started right away as the show aired. Josh Briggs attacked Yoshiki Inamura, and the bell rang. Josh Briggs is a very solid big-man wrestler. What I have an issue with is that he can't cut a promo to save his life, but his in-ring has improved a lot, and he can be a valuable big man on the main roster. Yoshiki Inamura, who has been one of my favorites in NXT, who came from NOAH-Pro, did a good job in this match. I thought Yoshiki Inamura would win this match, but Josh Briggs got the win, so I see this feud being a three-match feud, and I would have Yoshiki Inamura win this feud to help him out because he's awesome and very enjoyable to watch in NXT.
The 2nd Match: Ricky Saints vs. Jasper Troy in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: *.25 — This wasn't a good match; their first match against each other was a lot better and actually decent to watch. This match did nothing. I think there's nothing left for Ricky Saints to do in NXT; it's time to move him up and have him wrestle some of the best in WWE. Jasper Troy and this program aren't working out, and I know they want Jasper Troy to be the guy, as he won LFG Season One. But have him destroy some of the big challengers to really help establish him more as a huge threat in NXT.
The 3rd Match: Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx) vs. The Elegance Brand (Ash By Elegance, Heather By Elegance & M By Elegance (with The Personal Concierge) in a Six-Woman Tag Team Match with Masha Slamovich as the Special Guest Referee | The Match Rating: **.50 — This was a very fine Six-Woman Tag Team Match with Masha Slamovich as the special Referee. This match didn't start to really heat up until the ending portion of this match. I thought this match could have been a lot better, but I'm glad that Masha Slamovich is on WWE TV because she is a hell of a talent. She can go in that square circle.
The Main Event Match: Je’Von Evans vs. Trick Williams in a WWE NXT Title Number One Contendership match | The Match Rating: **** — Best Match of the Night. Je'Von Evans is amazing. This kid better be one of the next faces of WWE because this kid can be something rare for WWE, and if Triple H doesn't book him well, then I lose hope. This match was awesome. I loved the spot that was everywhere as Trick Williams threw Je'Vin Evans like an anime character as he crashed through the table. The match itself was very fun. Mike Santana cost Trick Williams the match, and now the David vs. Goliath is set for WWE Heatwave as Oba Femi defends his WWE NXT Title against Je'Von Evans in the Main Event of that PLE.
The August 19th WWE Tuesday Night NXT — The Match of the Night: Je’Von Evans vs. Trick Williams in a WWE NXT Title Number One Contendership match | The Match Rating: ****
The August 19th Edition of WWE Tuesday Night NXT — The Episode Grade: 7.50/10 (B) — This was a very good special episode of NXT as they were in Philadelphia. I really liked three of the four matches on the card. Like I have said many times, they need to rebuild the men’s division soon, as Oba Femi and Trick Williams will be gone sooner than later.
