My Thoughts on the August 2nd Episode of WWE Tuesday Night NXT:
My Thoughts: This was a very poor episode. The majority of the matches just weren’t up to par for me, aside from the Main Event, which was actually quite fun, especially with Joe Hendry’s appearance. My main issue tonight is that, on paper, the card seemed promising with three women’s matches. I know they’re capable of being good, but they simply didn’t deliver. As for the push with Josh Briggs—please end it. His heel run isn’t believable. I’ll give him credit for improving in the ring, but he isn’t someone who should be at the top. This feels like a filler feud for Je’Von Evans, so I’ll leave it at that. Still, I have concerns about NXT in 2025, and the Men’s Division needs saving sooner rather than later.
The September 2nd Episode of WWE Tuesday Night NXT — The Match Ratings:
The Opening Match: Lash Legend vs. Jaida Parker in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: ** — Had a lot of hope for the match as I'm a huge fan of Lash Legend, and her improvement has been a sight to see in the past year. Jaida Parjker and her didn't have that much good chemistry, it seemed like, because the match just wasn't flowing whatsoever. There were some good moments, but it just didn't do anything for me. Now I won't mind a rematch with some stipulation, but a plain singles match isn't getting the job done because I really did like the build of this feud, but this match just didn't hit for me whatsoever.
2nd Match: Candice LeRae vs. Xia Brookside in a WWE Women’s Speed Title Number One Contendership Tournament Semi-Final Match | The Match Rating: N/A — The Speed Match on NXT was okay. Xia Brookside, it was nice to see her. She’s in TNA, but she used to be in WWE. The 1st Ever WWE Women’s Speed Champion got the win in Candice LeRae, and I do expect her to win this Tournament to face Sol Rica at WWE No Mercy.
3rd Match: Jordynne Grace vs. Kali Armstrong in a Non-Title Match | The Match Rating: N/A — Kali Armstrong is someone I think will do great in WWE. However, this match wasn’t very good. Funny enough, I actually enjoy both women in this match a lot—Jordynne Grace is in my top 5 favorite women’s wrestlers in the world today, and Kali Armstrong is one of the WWE prospects I see becoming huge in NXT and on the Main Roster. Still, this match could have been much better. I hope they have a rematch in the future, once Kali Armstrong is more polished in the ring. For now, though, this was a very below-average match. Jordynne Grace got the win and is still targeting Blake Monroe.
4th Match: Josh Briggs vs. Andre Chase (with Kale Dixon & Uriah Connors) in a Singles Match | The Match Rating: N/A — Just a match for Josh Briggs to be the monster he's been booked to be in these recent months since his heel turn, they've been making this man like the Badass Undertaker from his 2000-2003 run when he was a heel. I see where it's going. I see the Undertaker confronted him in the future. But yeah, this match was acceptable. Andre Chase tried to put up a fight, but it just didn't seem to work, and Josh Briggs gets the win and shifts his focus to taking down Je'Von Evans next week on NXT.
The Main Event Match: Hank And Tank (Hank Walker & Tank Ledger), Oba Femi & Ricky Saints vs. DarkState (Cutler James, Dion Lennox, Osiris Griffin & Saquon Shugars) in an Eight-Man Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***.25 — Best Match of the Night. The Eight-Man Tag Team Match with Hank and Tank teaming with Oba Femi, and Ricky Saints to take on DarkState, who have been running hotshot since their arrival earlier in the year. But this match was quite enjoyable. Joe Hendry made an appearance to help Hank and Tank get the pin-fall for their team to get the win.
The September 2nd WWE Tuesday Night NXT — The Match of the Night: Hank And Tank (Hank Walker & Tank Ledger), Oba Femi & Ricky Saints vs. DarkState (Cutler James, Dion Lennox, Osiris Griffin & Saquon Shugars) in an Eight-Man Tag Team Match | The Match Rating: ***.25
The September 2nd Edition of WWE Tuesday Night NXT — The Episode Grade: 4.75/10 (D+) — This was a very poor episode majority of the matches just not up to par for me, outside of the Main Event Match, which was quite fun, actually, as Joe Hendry made an appearance. But my issue from tonight is that on paper, the card looked fun with three women’s matches. I know it can be good, but they just didn’t deliver. The push with Josh Briggs, please end it. His heel run isn’t believable, and I’ll give him credit; his in-ring has improved, but he isn’t a guy you have at the top. This is a filler feud for Je’Von Evans, so I’ll leave it alone. But I have my problems with NXT in 2025, and the Men’s Division needs saving sooner rather than later.
