My Official Review on WWE NXT Heatwave:
My Official Review: This was a very solid event from NXT, and it honestly felt like we witnessed a complete reset for the brand with so many title changes taking place throughout the night. I loved the Kendal Grey and Kelani Jordan match, which was easily one of the best women's matches WWE has put on this year. Both women delivered, and seeing Kelani Jordan become the new champion was a great moment. Grayson Waller finally did it, winning his first singles championship in WWE and becoming the new face of NXT in the process. The Vanity Project is now running NXT, as they currently hold both the NXT North American Championship and the NXT Tag Team Championships. Myles Borne also turned heel by attacking his best friend, Tavion Heights, after losing both of his titles earlier in the night, setting up what should be an interesting new chapter for both men. The feud between Jaida Parker and Nattie has officially come to an end, while we also saw the end of the WWE Women's Championship as it was unified with the NXT Women's North American Championship, with Zaria walking away as the new champion. There was a lot happening throughout this event, but it all made NXT feel fresh and unpredictable heading forward. Overall, this was another enjoyable NXT PLE that delivered plenty of memorable moments and gave the brand a completely different feel. NXT continues to prove that when it gets things right, its PLEs can be some of the most entertaining shows WWE puts on.
My Official Match Ratings for WWE NXT Heatwave:
The Opening Match: Zaria (c) [WWE NXT Women’s North American Champion] vs. Kali Armstrong vs. Wren Sinclair (c) [WWE Women’s Speed Champion] in a WWE NXT Women’s North American Title / WWE Women’s Speed Title Unification Triple Threat Match | My Match Rating: ***.25 — This was a very decent Unification Title Match, as I really was excited to see how Kali Armstrong did in this match, as this marks her first PLE Match in WWE since being signed back many years ago. This was a very fun and solid opener; it set the tempo up for the show. I really liked the near falls and the chaos that ensued in this match, but Zaria continues to impress as she defeated Kali Armstrong and Wren Sinclair to become the WWE Women’s Speed Champion, as that title is now officially retired from WWE. Solid opener, and Zaria continues to shine.
The 2nd Match: Myles Borne & Tavion Heights (c) vs. The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes) in a WWE NXT Tag Team Title Match | My Match Rating: ***.50 — This was a very fun match, with Swipe Right chasing the NXT Tag Team Championships they lost a couple of weeks ago. Myles Borne, who was working double duty, had to keep his head straight and stay focused, while he and Tavion Heights put together a strong performance. Swipe Right did everything they could to win the titles back, and eventually, the slip-up happened. Swipe Right became two-time NXT Tag Team Champions, ending Myles Borne and Tavion Heights' reign after just a couple of weeks.
The 3rd Match: Jaida Parker vs. Nattie (with Karmen Petrovic & Nikkita Lyons) in a Submission Match | My Match Rating: **.50 — I'm just happy that this feud is finally over. I do hope Nattie continues to stay in NXT and develops her own stable to help some of the younger wrestlers. My goodness, though, this match was very average to me. The stipulation didn't really add much, and I was already checked out of this story as a whole. Honestly, this match didn't need to be on this event. That said, they needed Jaida Parker to look strong, and that's exactly what happened. She managed to make Nattie tap out, seemingly closing this chapter of Nattie's career. Now we'll have to wait and see what's next for Nattie.
The 4th Match: Kendal Grey (c) vs. Kelani Jordan in a WWE NXT Women’s Title Match | My Match Rating: ****.75 — Probably the best Women's Match of the 2026 Year for WWE. HBK gave these women twenty-two minutes to go out there and give everything they got, and my goodness, did these women deliver. Kelani Jordan had her best career performance in this match. I have to say Kendal Grey might be up there for one of the most talented in-ring wrestlers in WWE. This match basically showed how, if you give women actual time to go out there and deliver, they will do so. This was an amazing match. Congratulations to Kelani Jordan as she's the new WWE NXT Women's Champion.
The 5th Match: Myles Borne (with Tavion Heights) (c) vs. Jackson Drake (with Brad Baylor, Myka Lockwood & Ricky Smokes) in a WWE NXT Women’s North American Title Match | My Match Rating: *** — This was a very decent title match, and noting that Myles Borne is tired because he endured a fourteen minute match as he lost his WWE NXT Tag Team Titles he now has to fight to find a way to keep his WWE NXT North American Title which didn’t work whatsoever as Jackson Drake managed to win his first NXT Singles Title as he defeated Myles Borne to become the new WWE NXT North American Champion as Vanity Project holds 50% of the NXT Titles on the Male Side of NXT which is insane as now they can go home happy. But it can’t be said for Myles Borne, as he turned heel as he attacked Tavion Heights. HBK caught me off guard, as I thought Tavion Heights was going to turn heel, but it went the other way around. Now we’re getting a heel Myles Borne, which is something that will be interesting to see how they will write that up.
The Main Event Match: Tony D’Angelo (c) vs. Cruz Montana vs. Grayson Waller vs. Zilla Fatu in a WWE NXT Title Fatal-Four Way Match | My Match Rating: ***.75 — This was a very fun main event, as things got started right away with everyone brawling. I genuinely had no idea who was going to win because I came into this match expecting the title to change hands, but I wasn't sure who would walk away with it. I got my surprise, and I was very happy with the result as Grayson Waller finally won his first singles championship in WWE, becoming the new NXT Champion. The way he screwed over Cruz Montana to win the title was absolutely crazy, but Grayson finally did it. And to make the moment even better, he won the NXT Championship on the same day his buddies Austin Creed and Kofi Kingston won the AEW World Trios Championship. What an awesome day for all of them!
My WWE NXT Heatwave Match of the Night: Kendal Grey (c) vs. Kelani Jordan in a WWE NXT Women’s Title Match | My Match Rating: ****.75 — Probably the best Women's Match of 2026 for WWE. HBK gave these women twenty-two minutes to perform, and they delivered. Kelani Jordan had her best career match. Kendal Grey proved she's one of WWE's most talented in-ring wrestlers. This match showed that given time, women can excel. Congrats to Kelani Jordan, new WWE NXT Women's Champion.
My WWE NXT Heatwave Official Event Grade: 7.25/10 (B) — This was a very solid event held by NXT; we had so many title changes as it felt like a whole reset when it came to NXT. I loved the Kendal Grey and Kelani Jordan match, as that was easily the best women’s match in WWE this year; they delivered, as Kelani Jordan managed to become the new champion. Grayson Waller did it; he won his 1st Singles Title in WWE as he’s the face of NXT. The Vanity Project now runs WWE as they now hold the WWE NXT North American Title & WWE NXT Tag Team Titles. Myles Borne turned heel as he attacked his best friend Tavion Heights after losing both of his titles today, and the chapter for Jaida Parker and Nattie has ended. Now we saw the last of the WWE Women’s Title as it has been unified with the WWE NXT Women’s North American Title as Zaria won that, a fun event all-around, and NXT really gives enjoyable PLE’s because this was a lot of fun.
